He's the greatest snl host ever period
Never missed a Weekend Update
He drags you to deep waters. lol
SHERRYS BERRRIESSS(I know she did this, just also an amazing vid)
“Norm Macdonald loses his sponsors” is also hilarious. It’s from his podcast.
This!
YES! Please react to it. You will love it.
Legendary
The mangrate
Haha mangrate, I think I watch that clip at least once a week
"Norm macdonald is married to a real battle axe - Conan" one of his best appearances imo, flawlessly lining up the jokes.
3:21 I liked that you said it's an escape when watching norm thats how I feel watching him having a break from this hellish joke we call life
Norm on Conan with Courtney Thorne Smith is probably his greatest moment on Conan 😊
One of the greatest comebacks ever. B-o-r-e-d.
Box office POISON!!🤣
Or so the Germans would have us believe...
I think the uncle Hector story is funnier
To truly appreciate Norm, you need to watch "the moth joke", with the full understanding that he didn't know he was going to continue being on the air, so created this joke on the spur of the moment and its not a rehearsed sketch.
Yes and no.
czcams.com/video/R07ijRHIdgM/video.html
Oh god yes. Plus the "Dirty Johnny" joke, which is my personal fave
I’ve watched these clips a million times, but it’s so fun to watch your reaction…
Norm knows exactly what hes doing with his language and delivery
It's insane that he makes it sound like he's just holding a conversation but every bit of it is deliberate
Watching Norm is forever a joy. So sadly missed
He's making the angels cry laughing now. The one legged angels that is, 'cause you can't eat an angel all at once.
Please check out Norms final standup on the David Letterman show, it was the week of Dave’s retirement and he picked Norm to be the final standup on his show. Norm always looked up to Dave and they’ve had many many great interviews on the show.
This is what's known as a shaggy dog story. The joke is that he makes us listen to an unnecessarily long setup for the tiniest punchline.
True, though this one's setup does add to the punchline. I've heard Jerry Clower tell a version of this one.. a little shorter....
Norm on SNL as Turd Ferguson is a must reaction ! 😂
Norm and Conan - the moth joke
Very funny
I never knew Norm grew up so close to my home. Monkland is a very small town very rural. I love his story telling.
Do they have a bunch of pigs?
That’s always been by 3 legged dog joke. Whenever I cross paths with a 3 legged dog I say to the owner, “I guess a dog that good shouldn’t be eaten all at once.” More often than not it gets a laugh. However, when it doesn’t go over… I get the laugh.
Norm was born in Quebec, a lil town of 500k people :D
Norm did the “Weekend Update” and there’s tons of videos from that. Gotta check them out, especially the ones about OJ Simpson 😂
For real
he also did a David Letterman , Larry King, impersonation on the show and his Burt Reynold was a reoccurring character on the jeopardy sketches.
bahh stop making black ppl watch weekend update 🤣 its the wrong comp / least funny every time
Word is that Norm got fired from SNL because he kept roasting OJ and the Clintons. The terrible part is that he got fired right before the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
Norm MacDonald “Saving Interviews”
Please of course. 😊
I advise against this, isn’t this the clip that’s like all mixed up in the order ? It really loses its original flow
@@grunntalll
Yes but there’s not a clip I’m aware of that shows them in order/doesn’t skip in and out of interviews. But if you find one please post the link!
she can just watch one at a time. much better @@abducteeofearth1703
Saving Interviews is fantastic. It's cut from a handful of interviews but it makes sense and the jokes land.
His joke on alcoholism is one of the funniest😊
Norm was the King of the convoluted joke.
Jerry Clower told that same joke better back in the 1970's.
Just dont get this guy talking about the holocaust...
Conan talks about how no one had really done this on talk shows. Norm would just tell made-up stories, which were actually old jokes from their grandfather’s time that he would adapt
Love from 🇨🇦. I watch you to feel better about life. Your smile and attitude are antedotes to the stresses of life; for my at least. Keep doing you, boo! 😏
This is one of my favorite jokes but had no idea Norm did it. Best told with an Inspector Clouseau accent.
I suspect it is the model for many corporate-employee awards.
My favorite version of it was Jerry Clower's, back in the 1970's! It's pretty good in his accent too as he used to be known as "The Mouth of The South", lol.
Norm once; Made it a quest. To tell the shortest joke ever. He announced this challenge to all the comedic world. He then announced, with completion of his task. When and where he would tell this monumental achievement.
The result:
“Julia Roberts, Lyle Lovett. Still married.”
Norm did weekend update on SNL. The best to ever do it! You should check out some compilations of his OJ jokes or just “best of” Norm from weekend update. Then there’s an awesome video from his appearance on letterman after he got fired from SNL which is hilarious as well. Norm truly was the goat for me
it is the journey with Norm! Love it!!
We need more Norm! ❤️
I love it, Norm on Gotham Comedy live is my favorite:)
That's a good one, for sure
Agreed
Better than comedians Unleashed??
@@liljoe31 oh you couldn’t be more leashed
"Norm's married to a real battle-axe" on Conan please
Heyyyyy from 🇨🇦! And Norm was not joking about crazy stories from small town farmer folk! I grew up on a farm, outside of a town that had 50 people in it! I wouldn't have traded living there for my childhood for anything. ❤
Britt, great reaction. I love it!
Norm McDonald was a national treasure.
There’s a video called Bill Burr can’t help but laugh when he watches the news. He’s talking with Conan. I hope you’ll react to it.
Check out Norm's OJ montage....which got him fired from SNL. But his OJ jokes were great!
The Moth Joke is a classic.
Any Conan/David letterman appearance clip is funny
He did his own podcast for a bit called “The Norm Macdonald Show” which has some solid clips/compilations on CZcams
The Norm rabbit hole is vast and you really can’t go wrong with any of it
Not just because I’m a fellow Canuck, but I love norm so much. It’s the journey and the intentional additions/asides to his lines and gibberish that we come to love. the punchline is just gravy :)
I don't think Norm grew up in poverty, because his parents were teachers, but he read a lot and read classic literature. He read Dostoevsky, Turgenev and others that he referred to that I don't know. Norm also liked poetry.
I really appreciate Norm now. Listening to him was always a great journey
I truly love Norm and I also love what you add.
Norms "Dirty Johnny" on Howard Stern is gold.
Norm and you are great! ❤😊🇨🇦
Loved Norm! You have to watch the story about his uncle Terry.
He got his start writing for the Roseanne show and then he was most famous for doing the weekend update on Saturday night live after the great Chevy chase started that skit !!!
Thx, I am a real Norm Macdonald fan. I have never seen that appearance on Conan.
To answer your questions about Norm: he was the "Weekend Update " guy for years on SNL. Conan was a writer on SNL, also.
There are very few talk show guests who always brought something special. Norm, God rest his soul, is on that short list.
so i had seen plenty of videos of people stating that Norm was a "genius" and they all swore he was super smart. But then I googled him and this kinda backs up that claim....
He attended Quebec High School[19] before his family moved to Ottawa, Ontario. In Ottawa, Macdonald attended Gloucester High School. He claimed to have dropped out at 16, but in fact graduated at 14.[20][21] At 16, he enrolled at Carleton University where he studied mathematics and philosophy before dropping out.[22][23] Macdonald was later also briefly enrolled in Algonquin College's programs for journalism and broadcasting-television, following his elder brother Neil Macdonald's footsteps. He worked a variety of manual labor jobs in between periods of school and before starting in comedy.
Norm used to do the weekend update (or fake news, as he called it) segment on SNL. He and SNL writer Jim Downey basically got fired for doing too many "O.J. Simpson is guilty" themed jokes by the studio head who was a personal friend of O.J.'s. (actually they fired Downey, so Norm quit). Norm also played Burt Reynolds on some Celebrity Jeopardy segments - see the one on the 40th Anniversary show. 🍁🍁
Canadian here. Keep in mind that just about everything Norm says is totally made up.
Probably emergencies solved by Lassie or something
Yes, but his tales are based on a true story
@@Freeleaper A good number of the stories he told were actually really old vaudeville acts. He had the inhuman ability to never break character while intentionally bombing. That's why so many comedians loved him. He had no fucks to give, ever.
@@gonzojed "Based on a true story" is Norm's book, with a very little truth in it!
Or so the Germans would have us believe.
Sit back relax, Norm has a story
This is really good advice.
The first time I heard that joke was from Pete Barbutti on Johnny Carson. I also heard Rich Hall use it on Letterman
THIS is one of those like Traveling salesman/farmers daughter type old timey outdated jokes he would just launch into and ride it out at length. It's evident that he is TOTALLY enjoying the audience agitation going on as he drags it out. HILARIOUS!!
Could you react to Sam Kinison's stand up bit called "World hunger"? I think you'll love that one.
Naturally, you would have to watch either all his Weekend Updates or all his Conan appearances
Love Norm so much!!!
I love how Norm claims John Neil said "We escaped the inferno.", then Norm says, "He didn't say a big word like inferno, he's just a simple farmer"....then Norm clarified that John Neil actually said, "We escaped that conflagration", a larger even more learned word to describe a fire 🤣🤣🤣
The pacing of Norm's jokes is the point he can get to it because he is masterfully in it the entire time. Have a little patience when watching Norm
I saw Buddy Hackett do the same joke (with minor variations) on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Norm and his relentless attacks on OJ Siumpson during and after the trial is one of the funniest things you will ever seen. Its during his weekend update segment on SNL
Norm did the fake news on SNL, and he was the best one they ever had do it. He rarely appeared in sketches, but occasionally he did some impersonations, and the ones he did were awesome--Burt Reynolds, David Letterman, and Quentin Tarantino spring to mind. Would love to see you react to some of his best SNL work.
React to his Turtle joke lol
Norm was a comedic genius.
Norm was on SNL, he did the weekend update and got let go because he kept making jokes about OJ Simpson after Lorne Michaels told him to stop.
I will love Norm forever ❤
Yes, you're being played!😂
His Weekend News bits from SNL are wickedly funny. Whether he is taking out after Michael Jackson, OJ Simpson or Hillary Clinton…..the man was ruthless. In fact, he was fired from SNL because he refused to stop doing the OJ jokes (OJ was friends with the president of NBC).
The one and only "Professor of Logic from the University of Science!"
His Turtle Joke on Conan, or the Letterman episode when he got fired from SNL.
Lovin the hair Britt.
I’m telling ya. That’s Norm. He’ll take you on a 10 mile hike just to tell you a dad joke at the end of the trip. Man, I miss him :/
Norm on Conan, telling his famous "Moth" joke
What kind of meat comes from a pig leg I asked John Neil, he replied "pork"
More Norm Macdonald!:
-loses his sponsors
-moth joke
-Courtney Thorne Smith on Conan
-professor of logic
-wife is a battle axe on Conan
-norm Macdonald live best moments
-norm Macdonald Conan best moments
-norm Macdonald Letterman best moments
That is an old, old, joke. I guess old Norm must have thought no one would remember it, but I remember Jerry Clower "The Mouth of The South" telling that joke back in the 1970's! In fact, here's Jerry Clower telling that joke in 1983 in Cleburne, TX. Skip ahead to 4:35 in the video to hear his version. czcams.com/video/ojRfoRVUbUM/video.html
Don't think you noticed, but you missed one of the funniest bits - when he says that the farmer wouldn't use the word "inferno", and then corrects himself with the word "conflagration" 😂
never has a comedian been able to stretch out a story sow =well that you just enjoy the journey no matter what the punch line was.
The journey was always more important that the destination. He is totally missed.
you haveto watch his Weekend Updates from SNL.
3:34 That's a good observation.
I love your reactions
What kind of meat comes from a pig leg," PORK"... haha Ham hocks, ham
Hi, from Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada...Most of the comments emphasize Norms' storytelling, standup comedy, SNL skits, etc, but I feel you might also wan't to check out his sitcom [simply titled Norm] that ran from 1999-2001. He plays an ex hockey player who has been banned from the game for gambling/tax evasion, and must now do community service to avoid jail. It co-stars Laurie Metcalf from Roseanne....I think you will really love it.
You are a stunner Britt
The stammering and stuttering is done on purpose. It’s part of the Norm MacDonald charm. He’s also admittedly pretended to be dumb even though he’s a genius, because he feels it makes it easier to get laughs.
Canadian here. Love you channel
Yes!!! I requested this one a couple times. My kids dont think this joke is funny, but thats because they are KIDS.
Check out Norm’s appearance on The View from when Barbara Walters was still on it.
You have to watch the movie "Screwed", Norm's hilarious in that movie!
When I was a lad I used to flirt with the gals at Hooters by ordering a big plate of chicken wings. When the wings showed up I would take a few bites and tell the waitress I would never eat a whole chicken, that would be crewel. Most times I got a funny look and she would ask me why there is any difference? I would tell her you can amputate a wing or two and the chicken can still live a long happy life. Then she would say, no they kill them. Then I would ask why? I just wanted a few wings, why kill the whole chicken?
You might get an eye roll or laid depending on your luck.
If you haven’t done it yet Britt, you have to do Norm McDonald’s 12 minute joke. It’s hilarious! 😂
I wish I knew how much of the funny ways norm talks was intentional
I'm Swedish and I met a Canadian for the first time when I was 16 haha
Check out the story of when his wife was in a coma
There's no "get to it". With Norm, it's all about the journey, not the destination.
He was a cast member on SNL, but was rarely in sketches. He hosted Weekend Update for a good long time. Eventually he got fired because he wouldn't stop making OJ Simpson jokes, by a higher up that was friends with OJ. Afterward Norm appeared on David Letterman's CBS show talking bout what happened. (Conan also did when he lost the Tonight Show.) Norm had at least 2 sitcoms on CBS and was in some movies including "Dirty Work" with Artie Lang. At some point he did host a sports show or two. Didn't watch those as I'm not into sports.
the first of many hilarious appearances with Conan
There are no unintentional stutters, mispronunciations, etc. He has gone over his material time and again. Everything is the result of writes and re-writes. What you see is the result of a tremendous amount of work. His craft is a result of attention to detail; every detail.
You get Norm. A+ to you.
Just get that the more difficult the name is the more ludicrous his story is
you gotta check out the people telling stories about norm....

Alright, I have a pig farmer joke for ya....Man's walking by a farm and sees this farmer struggling mightily to lift a pig up to a tree branch to eat the acorns off it. The man stood there scratching his head after a few minutes of watching this and walks up to the farmer who is still laboring with the pig on his shoulders. Man asks the farmer, "Sir, I hope you don't mind me asking, but isn't that a very time-consuming way to feed a pig?". Farmer grunts and sets the pig back down on the ground, takes off his hat and wipes his brow and looks the man straight in the eyes. Farmer says, "Son, don't you know time means NOTHING to a hog!"
You should check out some of his standup. A lot of it is on CZcams. Norm was amazing. Maybe the funniest guy to ever do it.
I’ll check it out!
This story was from his (in)famous "Makin' Bacon" album.
Ham comes from the hind legs of a pig.
Yeah I've only met 2 canuks in 40 yrs in the south
