I just found a baby raccoon 🦝 in my yard, I can’t watch it die. I am trying to nurse it back to health. Please for any advice you can give me to get it to survive and thrive
Step one, try to reach out to a sanitary in your region that will take them. If they will, great if not, this might help. Determine the age of the baby. I started raising mine at 3 weeks of age (eyes barely open yet). If they are very young, they will need a milk supplement. Kitten Milk Replacement seemed to be the go to from the sanctuary that coached me though the process. Depending on the age, you will need a bottle. Be sure to select the right size and keep the opening in the nozzle small so they don't inhale the formula. You don't want to over feed but don't underfeed either. There are size charts out there that help you determine ounces of formula to weight of baby. If they are old enough to eat solid food, I stuck with dog food and all healthy fruits and veggies. Super easy when they get to that stage. As I said, really try to reach out to a sanctuary first. They are the best experts.
That's awesome. We just started the adventure with a 5 week old named Rocky.
You have your hands full there... what a wonderful problem to have though! Take good care of them and cherish them every day!
