🇬🇧 La Coruña or A Coruña, as it is also known, is the capital of the province of La Coruña, located on the Atlantic coast, it’s a beautiful, but immense city, on quite a different scale to the other Galician capitals of Pontevedra, Ourense and Lugo, and it is quite unique in many ways.
The old medieval district of Coruña City is a good place to seek out if you are interested in the history of the city, and you will find Roman ruins, churches, and museums.
Walk among the emblematic buildings on the Modernist Route, the narrow streets and monuments in the old City and experience some of the places that inspired Pablo Picasso in his work.
The main city square Maria Pita Plaza, which it bears her name because she was the protagonist of one of the most important historical events in the city, such as the humiliating defeat in 1589 of the English privateer Francis Drake thanks to the resistance of the people of A Coruña led by this heroine.
As a curious fact, in this city is the first ZARA store that was opened in the world.

🇪🇸 La Coruña o A Coruña, como también se la conoce, es la capital de la provincia de La Coruña, situada en la costa atlántica, es una ciudad hermosa y de una escala bastante diferente a las otras capitales gallegas de Pontevedra, Ourense y Lugo, y también resulta bastante singular en muchos sentidos.
El antiguo barrio medieval de la ciudad de Coruña es un buen lugar para visitar si está interesado en la historia de la ciudad, y allí podrá encontrar ruinas romanas, iglesias y museos.
Puede pasear entre los edificios emblemáticos de la Ruta del Modernismo, las callejuelas y los monumentos de la Ciudad Vieja y conocer algunos de los lugares que inspiraron a Pablo Picasso en su obra.
La plaza principal de la ciudad es la Plaza María Pita, que lleva su nombre ya fue protagonista de uno de los acontecimientos históricos más importantes de la ciudad, como fue la humillante derrota en 1589 del corsario inglés Francis Drake gracias a la resistencia del pueblo de A Coruña liderado por esta heroína.
Como dato curioso, en esta ciudad se encuentra la primera tienda ZARA que se abrió en todo el mundo.

Hola. Just finished watching the video, very enjoyable to watch. I just took a look at a map and A Coruna seems to be on the very northwestern part of Spain. I think this might be the first one in this part of Spain? Sort of near Portugal too.
If I remember correctly, the date you recorded it was May 21, and when that flashed up on the video, I thought - oh, that was only 4 days ago, he usually doesn't upload videos that quickly. Well, I just now remembered that it's JUNE already, not May! 😄 Time sure does fly, and it's almost July. Anyway, I had noticed that people were still wearing jackets and I thought that was unusual, but since it was over a month ago, maybe not.
So I guess they call it the 'crystal city' because of the glass that covers the windows on the building exteriors? When I looked at the map too see where the city is in Spain, I think I read something like that. So this is where Zara was born. 😀 I didn't know that. (although I knew it was a Spanish company). I often see Zara clothing in stores (mostly TJX stores) but I've never bought any for myself, but who knows, maybe something will catch my eye. 😄
I noticed at the beginning the sound went off a few times. Did you edit that for some reason? I used to have to edit sound out when there was recorded music playing so as not to get the copyright thing. At 9:53 when you first walked into Plaza de Maria Pita, that was a wow! Really impressive there. And the City Hall is really spectacular. I knew that would be the city hall, and I thought - quick, quick, what's the word for city hall - ayuntamiento. I remembered (before it was on the screen)! 😆
At 14:32, the front of that church (Jorge Iglesias) with the three statues carved into the wall was really amazing. I really liked the shot at 18:00 of the city hall brightly lit while you were in the shadow in the archway. Nicely framed and it really highlighted the city hall building.
At 25:25 you walked past The Black Dog Tavern, and I had to laugh because there's a well-known restaurant around here (Martha's Vineyard) by the same name. Their logo is a black dog, and it's extremely popular on clothing here. Guess it's not the same Black Dog. 😁
At 35:00, that's a beautiful white building. Is that a hotel? And then, down to the sea! Ah the beautiful ocean. And a nice view out to the Castle. Very enjoyable video, lots of interesting stuff to see along the way. I enjoyed seeing all the people in this one too.

Hola! How's it going? I am glad that you liked this tour of La Coruña (or A Coruña as they say in Galician, which is the official language of Galicia along with Spanish). Yes, you're right, La Coruña (it's a shame you can't use the Ñ too 😄) is located in the northwest of Spain, in fact not far from there is Finisterre (which in Latin translates as End of the earth ) since the ancient Romans considered that from that point on there was no more land, that was the limit of the known world (it would be funny to know what they would think if someone told them that there would be cities like Boston 2000 years later). As you well say, it is also very close to Portugal, the Galician language is very similar to the Portuguese language.
This tour belongs to part of my trip to Galicia a few weeks ago, where I also filmed Lugo and Betanzos, which is a few kilometers away.

As far as I remember, I have never bought clothes at ZARA either 😄 (only household utensils at ZARA HOME) First Zara store was opened in La Coruña in 1975 and it is still open, although it has been remodeled, it looks similar to any ZARA store, it's a shame because it would have been interesting that they had kept their initial appearance.
Regarding the sound, you are also right, I realized that error when I had already uploaded the video to the channel. At first I thought that maybe it was a mistake while editing it but I also listened to the original raws and the sound was muted too. I don't know what could have been the cause. hahaha Ayuntamiento is a word that quickly gets into your head 😆 I think you already know Spanish urbanism perfectly, the city hall is always in the main square or an important square in the city. In my opinion it is one of the most beautiful town halls in Spain.
I agree with you, church of San Jorge is very beautiful, although it is a pity that a mass was celebrated at that time and I could not film it inside, to make up for it I wanted to enter the church of Santiago but as you can see on the tour, just as I was going to enter, a woman appeared saying that they were going to close the temple at that time. It was not my lucky day!!😆
I was curious to know about The Black Dog Tavern on Martha's Vineyard so I looked it up on google maps, it really is nicer and more picturesque than the Spanish Black Dog Tavern is surely 😄 (if this is a copy it's of very poor quality 😄 )...Also the island looks like a fantastic place to visit with beautiful Victorian houses and amazing views of the sea, I'm sure I would enjoy there.
White building you mention is not a hotel, it is a military hospital, although I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being converted into a hotel 😄 As I told you at the beginning, on my next tour I will focus more on the promenade since it hardly appears on this tour.

Tiene edificios de Villanueva (el antiguo Instituto, primero tecnológico de España) de Gaudi (la Basilica del Sagrado Corazon, basada en un boceto de su autoria) y el mayor edificio de España la Universidad Laboral. Además de grandes palacios y casonas en Somio y parroquias (Villa Maria, la Quinta Bauer, la Casona de los Quirós...)
