      But wow so sad to see so much graffiti ? Is there gangs or bad crime? I'm really shocked a bit by all the graffiti.. it distracts from all the gorgeous Medieval churches and architectural features.

    I thought you were American. That was a lovely video and it looked quite, certainly in the old part, I love history. What are to costs like when it comes to taxes, bus and bikes? I always look forward to your videos they are so well put together and you are so cheerful. Thank you for sharing your home town.

    • @MuchoHop
      @MuchoHop  Před 6 lety +1

      I was born here but moved to NYC when I was 5. I lived in NY for nearly 30 years! Half of my family is American. I'm a citizen of the world!! Taxes can be expensive, about 30-40% of your salary goes to taxes, depending on how much you make. General sales tax is 21%, ouch. A bus ride is about 1.30 euros but you can get a discount, down to 85 cents. Remember, all our health care is covered! which is amazing. Property is pretty expensive in Coruña. We are surrounded by water on 3 sides so land is limited in the city. Rent can be 500 euros on up. This is more or less. It is not cheap also considering that many people only make 1000 euros a month, average salary is 22,000/yr. The thing is that food and clothes are not expensive. Quality of life is good here. Glad you enjoyed it!!

      You are so funny. That's what happens when you speak English in school and Spanish and Galego at home. I wasn't allowed to speak English at home. As a result you get two people in one body with one brain that sees three languages as one. Crazy shit!

    Beautiful sights in A Coruna. Is A Coruna cloudy in August? Thinking about the eclipse in August 2026: clear western view, sun low in the sky

      @MuchoHop  Před 6 dny

      Normally, July and August are the warmest months in Coruña, but you never know about clouds and rain. We do have extensive areas of clear western view as there is so much coastline. Fingers crossed we have clear skies!! I'm so looking forward to the eclipse!!

    I will be for 3 nights in Coruna in the end of October. Why are the streets so empty? Could you tell me how it is there in October. I will be walking before the Camino from Sarria and plsn to end the trip there.

    • @MuchoHop
      @MuchoHop  Před 6 dny

      Oh wow, sounds wonderful walking the Camino!! The weather in Coruña is never boring. You can have the 4 seasons in one day, haha. I always tell people to wear good shoes, just in case it rains, and layers. The streets were empty because either it was lunch time or a Sunday afternoon. I don't remember exactly. You'll see Coruña is a very lively city!!! In this video, although it was Christmas, the wine streets for tapas are like this all year round!!! The shopping areas are always full, too. czcams.com/video/w9HV36eXTSI/video.htmlsi=MnrCpZzccUYj6oA9 Hope this helps and Buen Camino!!

      Uii, que mala leche. A Coruña!!! Of course! For those of you who don't know what we are talking about. In the old days, when people spoke Spanish, we would call this city, La Coruña. When people spoke Galician, we would say, A Coruña. In recent years, the official name of this city is the Galician version, A Coruña. So, that is what this person is reminding me of. Not being raised in Spain, I don't understand things like this. I just LOVE being Galician and LOVE the Galician language and culture!!!
