  • The Front headlock is a very powerful position with many options. In this video I demonstrate one of my favourite go to moves that I like to use. In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu passing the Guard one of the most important aspects of ground fighting since the man on the bottom has so many options for sweeping and submissions. In this sequence we bypass the Guard all together and avoid the dangers that come with it, instead of taking you opponent down, passing and then looking for a submission this sequence gets you the checkmate immediately.

    Thank you for posting. Always enjoy your videos. Every time I come back to watch them there is always something new I didn't pick up on the last time. Could you please share some details on staying off your back when there is heavy pressure on you. Ex: side control defense

    This is awesome and the detail on the hips is great. I would have let them drop for sure.
    We learned a quick guillotine from this position, same grips as you, just drive the top of the top hand into the trachea. Works a charm if you reckon the guy's too big to throw :)

    the fact that many fighters put their back on the ground while doing this,reminds me of how it is the same when their doing the original (classical) uranage :)

    That was great I have been studying front headlock and body lock alot lately your videos are very well shot and we'll explained. I would try to choke the guy out right in front headlock like Matt Hughes did in the U.F.C or turn it into a nasty catch style neck crank great position good control and lots of options.

    Thanks Firas I tried the knee bump and different grips you showed off in past tutorials for the clinch as well as some arm trapping and framing in striking and that supported elbow frame in the guard while sparring today and it worked pretty well--not as pretty as when you guys do it but with a few hundred more reps I should be able to make it looks decent.
    BTW how is Rory doing? Heard him on Ariel Helwani's show and he sounds great amazing how quick he recovers. Clearly he has great genetics for recovery and I'm sure he'll get that belt soon enough based on how well he did.

      I like to teach Darce to everyone and tell them to only to use what feels right. Not everyone has the same style this is for certain.

    The darce is my favorite technique, and all of your videos are great but I always find your material on the darce mind blowing (especially the knee slice vid!) I was wondering why you opt to finish with the foot on the hip at 2.45 is this to maintain the angle to create shoulder pressure? or trap the opponent against a cage? I really look forward to your future videos on the choke! Thanks for all the great vids!

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  Před 9 lety +3

      GambleDub Thank you! and yes I sometimes finish with the foot on the hip, this help prevent possible escape and also give me a foot hold to push off of and apply pressure. Lots of ways to finish the Darce more to come!

    in mma is this something you could set up from a clinch or would you use after you defend a double leg and get control of the head. if once you catch him in the front headlock he is stuck on his knees could you still do the suplex or just snap him down and go behind

    Hey Coach, first of all i‘m a huge fan of yours, I rly enjoyed this move and did it in todays sparring i‘m doing normal NOGI BJJ training, my coach is questioning the legality of this move. Is this ADCC/IBJJF legal ?
    thx in advance merci beaucoup!

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi Dingstar thanks for the kind words!
      Yes to my knowledge it is legal but I'm not totally certain. I have never hurt anyone using this maneuver nor have I ever seen anyone getting hurt using this move. I try to make sure not to circulate risky moves online. it may look risky but if done correctly it's not dangerous in my opinion.
      hope that helps.

    The person who disliked this video has arms too small for a darce choke..Please give us some videos on your favorite ashi garami/single leg X-guard enteries & finishes!! Thank you in advance!

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  Před 9 lety +1

      Corey McWilliams If you arms are too small fro the Darce I still recommend you learn this attack simply to be aware of it. Knowing how the Darce works if the first thing when it come to defending it.

    Excellent. I look forward to playing with some of the big boys with this.
    Question: If they're large enough to stand up and lift me with their lower back, would I sprawl out and try to do the throw on the way down by tucking my legs in at the last second?

    • @CoachZahabi
      @CoachZahabi  Před 9 lety

      +ShinkaTV Yes spawn him out first and only go for the throw if you are able to stuff the head down with you body. Once you dominate the head he cannot lift you anymore.
