Trevor Francis RIP. I was fortunate enough to meet him as he played for the Detroit Express for a season while we were living in the US. He played on synthetic grass in a pair of Adidas Country trainers. He wiped the floor of all the teams we played against. Absolute Legend!

Years ago the European press lambasted the South American Cup because it took over 80 matches to knock out a handful of clubs. This was to satisfy the TV channels who wanted the big clubs in the kos. The "Champions League" satisfies them but no one else. I also remember this final as being somewhat dull, but most finals are. In hindsight it is much better than the dirge served up today

Now looking back what forest did with Clough (Peter Taylor deserves a lot of credit too) was without doubt the greatest achievement in football. From absolutely hating them, they've kind of become my second team, and I always look out for their result. What they did will never be bettered.
You would be more surprised to know that Nottingham has only one league tittle which produced them two European cup tittles in two seasons. Back then you have to be a champion of domestic league or be the reigning champions of European cup to be able to participate again in this competition.
