Using a amplifier with a cheap UV-5R is like someone that uses to make a lot of noise at your street and neighberhood shouting stupid things and annoying everyone, deciding to buy a PA (Public Adress) sound system:
You can imagine the havoc........😪😪😪
Using a amplifier like this on a cheap, RF noisy radio is so dangerous for the other radio spectrum users that you cannot even imagine.
Even if you use a decent portable radio, you MUST allways check harmonics levels going into the air (with a good quallity spectrum analyser).
Even much worst at a Base Station than at a mobile station.
Beware........🤬😠
(you can minimize this by using a narrow band passband filter for the ham bands (yes, the ham bands !!! If you are not a licenced radioamateur you have no business transmiting. Remember: you can listen but you CANNOT transmit, so why would you need a amplifier ???!!!!!!!)
Each year over 5,000 children are killed because irresponsible parents fail to check the harmonics on their UV-5Rs with a spectrum analyzer....
I am so glad that you have your CZcams FCC Police Badge to save us all..
Who said they don't have a license?
The Old Guard 💂♂️
@@TheNotaRubicon you always manage to hook one. Take that luck to the casino!! 👍
@@TheNotaRubicon it has to be a high quality spectrum analyzer, not just any old spectrum analyzer.
EVERY time you lovingly caress your UV-5R I giggle like a 12-year-old! Thanks!!!
I giggle like a 50 yr old! (ok, that's weird). but true.
Likewise!
I get excited and wish he would stop stroking the radios. It's like porn and some of us have issues🤣
Except he cuts out all the good parts 😭
I do too. Randy cracks me up. 😂
Thank you for being human and less awkward than everyone else in radio
I agree.
I don't know....some of those caresses get pretty akward😂
As a Ham Radio Operator, with a General class license I just want to say that I loved this video. It is concise and to the point. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks!
This is one of the most informative AND funny channels on ALL the CZcamss.
You deserve a nice cold one. NEVER STOP!
Thank YOU!

Keep up the dry humor - I love it - it's better than Monty Python!
However - if you change, I'll demand a refund... in US Pennies, Nickels, and/or small shinny pebbles.
Preferably gray ones.
Might be the best non-mainstream youtube content provider in the genre out there. Thanks man! Recommend you to all my friends that got into ham for the off-road support stuff.
Yes!, my own Baofeng UVMILF-5R...
Lol😂😂😂
Give credit where its due.
After surfing tons of channles, your explanations are the clearest/simple, thus beneficial.
Stellar audio with the new mic. Good job Lenny.
Makes my heart flutter just knowing I’m your favorite viewer 🥰
Mine too! lol
Me too lol
Wait, What? I though I was his favorite viewer!
My virtual friend, I enjoy every single comical comment you throw at us. Thanks for making me laugh. I have no interest in bumping up my UV-5R to 40 watts of power but I knew I was in for a fun and well informed show as usual here. Keep up the great work!
Ditto
I laugh every time “ sad ham” shows up. 🤣
Too stupid not to play right into the trap. I love it! :D
I just got my, lovely, amazing, and beautiful UV-5Rs. They came in a secure package that protected my two little gems. I then found your channel, and subbed. My life has changed now that I know where to get the most excellent UV-5R information. YOU ROCK, thank you for your videos and information. Be well.
Love your videos. It's helped me so much. I am a widow, and not to good with all these new fangled equipment. It was so easy with your instructions. Again thanks a bunch
Your audio is clear and perfect. I am slightly deaf and your speach is top quality, I can hear everything clearly. I like it when you rag the critics too.
Came here for the information. Stayed for the humor, and information. This is the first video of yours I have seen, and will NOT be the last. Amazing :D
So glad I watched this video! I watch all your vids but, somehow, I missed this one. Totally solves a problem for me to get a GMRS base station going (yes, I need the U25, not the v25). Thanks so much!
Love this channel. One of the most informative and entertaining channels on comms in CZcams, Thanks.
You consistently make me laugh more than anyone I watch on CZcams. Thanks for that. You’ve also given me a lot of good information. Thanks for that also.
Yes, confirming the audio from your new setup is sounding nice & stable, well done sir.
I just started watching your channel, Love it. I think my UV-5R has been working better since I started caressing it. Thanks for posting great helpful videos for "Me", Your favorite viewer...
😂 that's great, but I'm pretty sure he was talking to me. His actual favorite viewer 😜🤣🤣🤣🤣
New mic sounds great!
sounds great video great ,, love your videos and passion for the uv-5r . appreciate your teaching videos
I am grateful that you make these informative & entertaining videos
Awesome sense of humour, brother!
This is a game changer for anyone on a budget!
Love your Beretta 92 matt !!! Learning about GMRS and Ham . Thanks !!!!!!
I really appreciate how all your videos get right to the point!
Half the video was about Lenny the Sound engineer. Not right to the point.
Sarcasm :-)
sounds great. love your videos. i ordered the uv-5r 3 , i should have it in a couple days. thanks 👍👍
Thanks for this Vid.
I bought one tuned for the 2 meter band.
I am currently participating with my normal Tuesday night net.
I am testing with it in place of my normal home setup of my UV-5R going to a TPL brand 50 watt amp, hand held mic, and a J pole antenna 25 feet in the air.
Everyone so far has said that it sounds good and has a strong signal on multiple repeaters.
I'm going to bump the UV-5R output up to 5 watts for my next texts.
* test
Audio is spot on!
I was waiting for the video on this item to come out, Great Job (Again) and a plus mentioning the different bands so people buy the correct one for their beloved Baofengs...MIke D. WRMM242
Sounds GREAT -- noted the new mike (and the new sound) previously!
New sub. Just picked up two Baofang UV-5Rs for emergencies. Unlike many, I RTFM front to back and watch videos. Appreciate the settings to change tutorial video. Great content and the guy cracks me up by caressing his radio. 🤣
thanks , I have one it's been working great for over a year now .
Thanks for helping me out on using the radio because I had no idea what the buttons meant
I have the same setup in my car but with the DMR DIGITAL AMP.Also I the new GT-5R conncted to it along with other different radios.Very nice.
Wow! Now that’s pretty cool! I have a I’ve 5R but my Anytone would be perfect for this device. Thanks for the info.
Sounding smooth and cool.
So friggin entertaining. Your videos are informative and fun to watch.
Simple and Sweet.
I've had one of those over a year , mine works great
Sad Ham, always makes me laugh when I see him show up
February 2022 I got my GMRS license. I got my Tech ham license in March 2023 and now I got my General license a couple weeks ago. Each to their own. Radio is radio. It’s a hobby. Do what you enjoy. That’s all I have to say.
Booming and clear voice.... nice job on the audio setup.
I've been using it on my Yaesu VX-6R for a couple years. Works great.
This guy just cracks me up!
Thanks for the useful and hysterical content Brother. Its much appreciated.
Sounds like it could make for a great portable field comms setup.
Thanks for the info Randy!
Like the improvements you have done on your channel
Liked the video. Going to purchase the amp for my radios. Willing to experiment!!!!
Love your vids and your content. Thank you for all the great information and laughs😂
Excellent information, thank you.
"I wont waste your time with tangents" procedes into sound quality tangent. 😂 love this dude.
Back in the 80's, I had a CB in my car, when I decided to add an amp to my car radio. The install tech SOMEHOW managed to link in the CB radio transmit to the 100w amp...'bout blew out my friends CB a mile away. I DID enjoy it for a while.
I currently have a BAOFENG BF-F8+ that I sure would HATE to have something like that happen to !!!
You are hilarious with your devotion to the boafeg uv 5r
Informative and entertaining, thank you. Big thumbs up!
Greetings from Sweden!
You, Sir, just got yourself a new subscriber 🎉
You are psychic, I watched your range increase video for the UV-5T and wondered if it could be run through an amp and here is the video, niceee
Just got one for my tidraido off your link. Thanks Randy you Rock Bro! 👍 Thanks
I have one in my off-road buggy it works great they were only $60 a few years ago
I love your humor radio dude.
Dude.. I friggin love watchin your hobo stuff😂. I crack up every time!! Love it. Keep up the good work😎
Audio sounds great to me!
THANK YOU for sharing this!
Great little amp thanks for the info 👍
Oh, and good audio with the new mic
I love how he looks at the UV-5r every time he picks it up
Big fan, love your knowledge bombs.
I own the 2m and 70cm versions and they work and work well . Simple and loud . Yes loud . I can now hear Baofeng perfectly in my vehicle . And i feel very comfortable having that radio bake in my work truck. While my brand snob radio sits at home in a dry box that i am paralyzed with fear to open and actually use. Insert ham lid comment about spectrum analyzer.
I looked hard at this option for my mobile setup in my truck, having several HTs. But BTECH has some good dual band (lol!) mobile units that don't cost more or not enough to justify the extra installation, mounting, wires (25w or 50w). I'd still consider one for a base station as I already have the PSU to run my Yaesu and usually run a 5R connected to a JPOLE antenna as my second/local stuff/scanner stuff anyway and this would increase transmission range. But even then being limited to 70cm or 2m or 1.25M kinda kills it on the HAM side due to cost. Now for GMRS, that may be a different story.
Excellent info, much appreciated! I hold my UV-5R like that too! lol
Bro... you need to do a stand-up. Love your videos and your "strange affection " for your radio. Lol.
Very cool! So, for the price of a full power mobile VHF/UHF radio, you can purchase an amplifier that turns your $20 UV-5R into a full power mobile radio!
Great point! But for an extra 40 for a second UV5R and a cable - you get a portable trail repeater...

@@NoName-OG1 Or buy a TYT TH8000D/E handy with built in cross band repeat
and up to 10 watts
Only issue is that the amps only do VHF or UHF, not both. You can transmit through on the other band without amplification on the analog amps. This makes it not quite the same as a dual band mobile - you'd have to buy both models of the amp.
Sounds good brother
Really enjoy your thriller presentations. Animation including the monologue on the sad Hams burst me into laughing. You have fantastic video editing skills and yes also a lovely actor.
Thank you for the information on the Btech amplifier
Cheers!
New Delhi
Thanks for letting us little people know about this 40 watts 🤔😱💯🇬🇧👍
Great video, as always! Are there any good quality HTs that have more than 5-8 watts tx? 15-20 would be awesome if the batteries can handle it.
You are so helpful thank you!!!
Sounds great.
I look forward & then share almost every vid that you put out. And the vid looks & sounds great to me.
It sounds gr8. Thx 4 sharing on Utube.
Excellent video as usual 👍👍👍
Love the show, you're hilarious. Rubi guy myself. I'm New to the world of radio. I got my kid's some new Radio's Topsung k10's for Christmas so we could keep track while they are backyard hopping and I quickly realized..hey I need a radio...Your channel was very helpful to make my selection and got a BAOFENG BF-F8HP (UV-5R 3rd Gen) 8-Watt Dual Band....now I'm deep in the 🐇 hole and stayed up till 2am trolling the comms to find conversation and I've watched 👀 like 12 of your videos...Now my Neighbors want Baofengs and kid radio's to copy my idea so we can all track the kid's and keep the VOX running....Yeah I'm bit bye the bug..🤣🤣..I would like to see your RUBI radio set up and maybe a video about mobile setups if you haven't already made a video about this.
You are the man, like all your videos 📹 🙌
Thank you!
Love the sound!
No sad ham here!
Man I have watched so many of your videos and I use aviation radio but I am kind of getting inclined to test Baofeng UVR haha. Your satire is so awesome I can't tell if you're a jab at it or it really is that good 👍 keep up real world insults!
That's it, I'm calling Dr. Ruth.
I think that you should have a talk with her.
Love your videos. Thank you.
She can’t be still alive?!?? Shit she is.... 92!
@@NoName-OG1 She eats right, and......plenty of rigorous "exercise".
I like your baofeng info and i also use a baofeng and amp useing for a few years thanks for your show its cool----motor man .
I own the BTECH AMP-U25 Amplifier for UHF (400-480MHz), 20-40W Output (2-6W Input), the U is for UHF this model allows you to talk pass thru the amp without power. The other units that have digital won't talk thru the amp when off. Stick to analog. Repeaters don't dig digital waves anyways bro. I talked to Randy on this unit with the UV-5X recently with no problem. 986 Long Beach.
Love your content... The Ham Community must just love it...
Hey Jim Bob! Great videos and now you convinced me to get one of these here little amplifacation de-vices and help keep the gator=baiterss and HAM Karens off my frequency! I got the UV S9 which aint much different from the 5R septing its a tri morfic transdesender that puts out a whooping 5 watts on 2 meters! Geesh if I put out 40 watts I'm libel to set the woods afar! All the 7's and such and later! Good audio and keep up the great job!
Audio was amazing
Sounds great man !
As soon as the video started, I was thinking that you should do a video on your sound setup because it sounds so good. Then,,, you talked about it.
Great sound quantity is spot on.
yah but i dont use that cheap-old Mic anymore.
I have to say... the info you provide has been really helpful, but the fact that you do it with a substantial amount of dry-humor makes it that much better. lol
Thanks for sharing this very interesting stuff
Always something new and useful lernt.
I just found this. You are a character man!
This is a great idea thank you for sharing.
I love being his favorite viewer
