Does an Air-Cooled R1200GSA Overheat Crawling Pace in 100+ Degrees F?

- Ever wondered how hot your air-cooled motorcycle gets in slow-moving traffic or out in on the trails in 100 degrees heat? I put this to the test by plugging in my Hex GS-911 scan tool and taking the old 2006 BMW R1200GS Adventure for some slow cone drills.

Here in the Philippines we remove the catalyctic converter..it improves a lot..it only overheats when traffic is real bad..but of course it would depend on where you are..some countries are more strict than others..subbed to your channel..awesome video by the way..
Thank you! I appreciate the support. I'd love to visit the Philippines someday. I am quite interested in the cat delete. Does the ECU remap itself automatically? What are the benefits?
Great video, I like the topic because I live in Australia. Interesting to know how the bike deals with such high ambient temps. I think I am going to get the 911, sounds like a good idea! I just watched the episode where you drive your new purchase back home. I was wondering what suit you wear, climate here gets same as SA, very cold and very hot. Hope you can drop a link anyway Keep the videos coming!. Thanks mate
Thanks for watching! Yes, I think the climate is very much the same. The heat is tough sometimes, because I don't like riding without full gear and I sweat a lot! On that ride, it was freezing, but in summer at home it gets 40C plus. That old (oversized! LOL) suit is a Honda suit I got for free at a Honda launch way back when I was writing for a local newspaper. Apart from being a few sizes too big, I really like it.
curious to see the long term test. I started when there were only air cooled bikes
Thanks for the comment, Terry. I love the simplicity of air cooled bikes. I also prefer carbs.
I allways thought that this engines would turn off themselves when they overheat. Mine is a 2009 model and the engine doesnt sound happy when im on traffic on a hot day...
I am not sure... it was pretty hot and I rode walking pace for at least 20 min and it still ran fine. Maybe a bit rough, but not too noticeable. I think they can take more than we can in the heat.
Any chance you have the bashplate design
I’ll ask my friend Rory if he’ll share the design file Email me at adventurebiketroop@gmail.com 👊🏼
