Ghost Levithan’s are Subnautica’s ultimate paranormal companion, just like that demon living under your bed, Ghost Leviathans will follow you to the end of the world, hiding in all the dark spots that are just out of sight, but never quite out of mind. Today we study the Ghost Leviathan, to see how they live, and how they feed and what threats they pose to humans and other 4546B inhabitants.

Once you have a prawn suit, a reinforced dive suit and a repair tool those guys feel like the stalkers
I don't get it why prawn suit takes a bit less dmg than entire submarine.

My best trick is having a grappling arm and drill arm. Attach and drill away, fair warning: you may end up getting dragged away.
I would love a third subnautica game where we explore the absolute depts of this world. Like ghost leviathans can not be the only habitants of the void. It would be an amazing horror game

I hope that subnautica 3 is either a bit more horror focused (not changing the gameplay a ton, just a bit more spooky) , or in the future a official subnautica horror game.

I remember the first time I came across the adult ghost leviathan. It was equal parts terrifying and beautiful.

i played on creative on my brothers game ( i had a run in with a reaper and i was about 8 ok?) and i had no clue what they were, it was really pretty but when i found out what they were i was shitting it
I remember the first time I played and it hadn’t set in that the dark pit was endless, only to hear that bone chilling noise. I’m not easily scared, but let’s be real ANY ocean is terrifying.
Guys, don't make my mistake. Don't find the void and enter it thinking it's a new biome without knowing whatever the hell a ghost leviathan is.
The idea that the Ghost Leviathans don’t want to eat you and are just telling you to screw off is pretty cool
I just got curious, and went exploring in the crash zone, like other side of the aurora, and I was expecting to encounter like 7-8 reapers on my journey. I encountered 0, which was infinitely more unsettling
Sometimes the silent ocean leaves you more on edge, as you're constantly looking for an incoming threat Alborjat!
@@iAletho yeah, that was definitely the case. I was able to very easily feel my blood pressure rising the entire time I was in the area, despite not even having heard a singe reaper
Reminds me of that saying about alien life in the universe. Paraphrasing: Either there's a lot of it, or none of it. Both are equally terrifying.
So yeah, finding absolutely nothing when there should be _something_ is extremely unnerving.

One correction: They dont feed on microscopic organisms once they reach The Void. In The Void they feast entirely on fear.

maybe they lay them from the tip of the tail which allows them to use their tail to reach the tree easier
There are some spots on some leviathans bodies. Perhaps those are scars from laying eggs.

Ghost Leviathans attack you with a bite, not ramming. I very much believe that it attacks you firstly because you entered it's territory but it also eats you as a second bonus. Your character is very small compared to it, even smaller than it's main prey but not by much if i remember correctly. I don't believe that a predator like that would skip a potential source of protein.

I could have sworn that the PDA entry for Ghost Leviathans said that they ate plankton.
it attacks with both. you can see it lunge forward to ram its prey several times.
juveniles eat larger stuff but the adults only eat plankton iirc

Missed the upload somehow but hello again, love it when you post. Ghost leviathans are one of the coolest looking leviathans in the game, but since the area where theyre encountered the most (the lost river) is kinda a late game area they don’t feel too threatening at all, which is disappointing
Well sure the juvenaials arent tht threatening, but go fight an adult one. Thats a challenge. Need more excietment? Take a vacation into the ecological dead zone...The Void! The ones in there are defiently very threatening.

Since 3 show up in the void no matter where you are even if you go to one side then go straight across to the other they will show up due to them just spawning in once you enter the void anywhere it kind of implies that there’s many more circling around the crater and just 3 tend to be how many show up when something enters
I like to think the clear part is transparent muscle tissue and the dark part is the body cavity with the organs.
W video, I was out looking for wrecks and rubys all nice and quietly in grand reef when I heard a low voice, i looked up snd there he was a juvenile ghost leviathan in all its glory, thankfully it just hovered over me before leaving and that gave me enough time to leave and stop the panic attack I was having :(

I always thought the ghost leviathans were filter feeders. They were just aggressive assholes

They are filter feeders, but also seem to hunt other smaller prey when they get the chance! Luckily human doesn't appear to be on the menu though, they're just super aggressive and territorial
I may be weird but I didn’t have much trouble with Ghosts. Because they glow they aren’t too hard to spot early and so long as you stay out of their way, they leave you alone. I had much more trouble with Reapers, since they actively hunt you. The only trouble I really had was when I tried building a scanner room in the Sparse Reef and one kept attacking me, but he wondered off after a while and I was fine.
Hope we get one for shadow leviathans one day :P

These things make probably the worst sounds in the game.
I mean yes, the Reaper is iconic, but these things make a completely unnatural set of sounds in comparison.
And no, Sea dragons don't even come close. They always sound like they're in so much pain and begging for something to stop lol

Ghost leviathans are just big blue hammerhead sharks and you can’t tell me otherwise
I think that the only ghost leviathan in the egg is the thing that looks like it has a stem. The rest are polar bodies, which are parts of an egg cell that are the remains of the other daughter cells that result from meiosis.
That ghost leviathan in lost river may survive my attack but i will come back for my revenge
Isn't the only adult ghost leviathan in the playable area in the Northern Blood Kelp Zone? I thought the one in the Deep Grand Reef was juvenile.

The protrusions 1:33 on its head help it menuver and turn on a dime much like the head of a hammer head shark does.

It's weird how nobody talks about the fact that the Ghost Leviathan is the actual biggest aggressive Leviathan in the crater, with the ones in the void being around 122 meters long, 10 whole meters longer than the Sea Dragon

Fun fact: the ghost leviathan in the lost river is a juvenile. 3 adults will (eventually) spawn in the crater edge when you stay in the crater edge for too long.

I already don't play the game because of the sea thing, but these Ghost Leviathans scare the crap outta me. 😢
They lay eggs inside the tree for protection and nutrients, so they definitely understand parasitism… but I wonder if they understand the player using the seamoth/prawn for transportation or if they think we’re parasites 😂
Not to be that guy but the PDA says that Ghost Leviathans feed on microscopic plankton or something like that I think but I might be wrong. Still great video btw...

Ghost leviathans surviving on micro organisms in the void really doesn't seem plausible unless they somehow don't use any energy at all. Even in below zero we see the glow whales having gigantic mouths in a vastly more nutritious area. Most other creatures i can at least sort of see possible
Many giant whale species feed on micro organisms in real life, it’s not unreasonable to assume that could be scaled up to the sizes of the ghost leviathan and even the sea emperor leviathan. Even so the PDA states that adult ghost leviathans would need vast areas of water to meet their caloric requirements, and likely migrate across the planet in search of new feeding grounds. It’s likely that the adult ghost leviathans you see in game were born far away from the crater, potentially on the other side of the planet, and only come here as one of their mating grounds.
Ffs I made my main habitat in that tree area because it was safe. Now you're telling me soma ghost could hatch out of the blue while my character is chilling with the ghost rays?
