Au Gratin Potatoes

- This is an easy Au Gratin Potato recipe. I cook a large pan in the oven and a small pan in the air fryer!
Ingredients for ONE LARGE 13 x 9 Bake Pan:
1 Cup French Onion Dip (or 2 cups French dip and no Sour Cream)
1 Cup Sour Cream (or 2 cups Sour Cream and no French dip)
1 Can (10.5 ounces) Condensed Cream of Chicken soup, undiluted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
1 package (28 ounces) frozen Shredded Hash Brown Potatoes with Onions & Peppers, thawed
2 Cups grated Cheddar Cheese
2 Cups crushed Cornflakes
4 Tablespoons Butter, melted
Bake at 350 F. in oven for 50 to 60 minutes (until lightly golden).

Ken my Christian Bretheren , great recipe & looks delicious. I am Irish & our # 1 food staple is potatoes, not a potato or potato dish I won't eat except a rotten one , lol, & I reckon you have come across one in your lifetime( the smell is awful) . Yes grating your block cheese is much better than pre- shredded, & a tip for folks , you want your cheese really cold before grating or it will gum up & get all clumpy. When I was growing up, I was certain this dish was "All Rotten Potatoes" and absolutely would not try them!
Lol, I am Irish & rotten potatoes even smell awful, I don't want to say what they smell akin to , lol, only potato I won't eat is a rotten one my friend , God bless

You said shredded potatoes, but in this case it seems you used diced potatoes. I do agree it is best to grate the cheese yourself! This recipe looks good and I would like to try it. No air fryer in this home yet. The condensed creme of chicken soup and the French onion dip could possibly be swapped out for healthier or less processed versions. Delicious I am sure though. Thank you.

Try and find low sodium substitutes I suppose. The internet should be of help. Do a search on each ingredient for low sodium substitutes.
Looks delicious. I did notice in the video, you added 16oz of sour cream and 8oz of French onion dip, however, in your recipe list you indicate only 8oz of sour cream and 8oz of dip (or just 16oz sour cream). Did I miss something or is this just a preference. Either way sounds really good. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it may be made either way. The listed amounts are for a 13 x 9 in. pan only, not the extra amount shown in the video. It think it is best using the French Onion dip.
I use pre shredded cheese in my recipes & I like the results & so as long as you like your results, that is all that matters. It’s not all that important to follow the recommendation of shredding your own cheese if you like your end result of your pre shredded cheese.

It came that way from Walmart.
This is not the traditional au gratin potatoes. This is a updated potatoe cassarole. 😋

Yes, Panko Bread Crumbs or crushed Ritz Crackers will work.
Also, do you cover with aluminum foil and bake or uncovered?
I will admit, its probably delicious, however all that sour cream and dip would give me the tummy ache...to say its rich is an understatement , love the butter, wouldn't replace it with anything else. Thanks for the recipe 😊
