    If you like being a speech based character take Troubadour it basically lets you use all the bath house functions for free and you get a 50% boost when talking to women. But the power lies in the bath house just go there whenever you get hungry, tired, hurt or dirty and you get a free top up of all those stats plus the alpha male perk which further boosts your charisma.

    Infamous is absolutely better than local hero, simply because reputation rises faster and that's beneficial to both chivalrous as well as dishonorable characters alike. There is no downside.
    Especially considering your reputation will fall much faster if you pick hero, and what good is that for? You'd always want high reputation, regardless of your play style.

    • @SomeOne1121
      @SomeOne1121 Před 6 lety +35

      Good point. But...local hero can be an RP-pick. And you WILL miss out on the stat bonus if your rep is high, with infamous.

    • @Thor.Jorgensen
      @Thor.Jorgensen Před 6 lety +127

      Yes you will miss out on the stat bonus. But that will be a waste once you've maxed your stats. Then your stats can't go higher anyways and you will still suffer losing reputation.
      Furthermore the stat bonus does not work outside of towns where these stats usually are the most needed, considering most fights usually happen out in forests. Other than that there's only the +1 speech, not really overwhelming.
      However in the case of infamous when things go bad you will get +1 in every stat, your reputation will rise faster and less punishment for crimes (accidental or not) is just flat out better, rather than being punished harder.

    • @Tommoslasguitaros
      @Tommoslasguitaros Před 6 lety +6

      Why would you still worry about reputation after maxing out every stat? At that point you will be done with the game or you find it so much fun you dont give a crap about how fast/slow your rep falls.

    • @Thor.Jorgensen
      @Thor.Jorgensen Před 6 lety +44

      You may be done with the game but I personally enjoy free-roaming the world. And who knows, there may be side quests or activities that you've missed.
      Besides your reputation constantly being lowered and harsher punishments will haunt you for the rest of your game (until we perhaps get a respec potion)

    • @Tommoslasguitaros
      @Tommoslasguitaros Před 6 lety +4

      Thats not what I said. Im still playing the game. But what I said was, if you reach the point of max stats it doesnt really matter anymore what tiny buff local hero or infamous gives you, since it gives buffs to your stats... So why care about reputation, you can easily fix that by giving stuff to vendors for free. Id say you are looking at it the wrong way, you should check what kind of character you are playing, before you reach max stats. Not what kind of character you'll be playing in the aftermath of becoming a demigod.

  • @pcodyssey41
    @pcodyssey41 Před 6 lety +33

    I believe Savage is a better option than Burgher for a main stat perk. The 4 categories affected are Strength, Agility, Vitality, and Speech. While you typically benefit from all 4 stats in the wild, you generally only use Speech in towns, so with Burgher you're trading 4 for 1 and there are a lot of other ways to get Speech bonuses.

    I highly suggest Forester from the hunting tree, you spend a lot of time in the woods raiding camps and such and this reduces your visibility and conspic stats by 50% while in the woods.
    Wild at heart breaks hunting altogether it becomes super easy, boars and deer will stay still allowing you to get an easy kill, bunnies will actually get so close to you you can stab them with your sword.
    The main perk I don't suggest in the hunting tree is Huntsman which increases the damage done to animals by 20%, it is a wasted perk as with a decent bow you will still one shot a boar or deer.

      Not necessarily. Most potions increase Nourishment by only 5 points. Digestive potion drops Nourishment by 20 points.

    Crouching Chameleon is very useful for pickpocketing and hunting. A nice tip for raising your skill in pickpocketing is to just do it every time the game auto-saves. There's always someone around and it's nice to just do a quick reload every time you fail.

    Hey UE you can raise your pickpocketing stat a lot in merhojen (idk how to spell it) by practicing on the poisoned villagers.
    You will get caught by them but they won't run off and call guards, they are in limbo.

    I realize this is months later but for pickpocketing i had a much easier time after i got crouching chameleon in the stealth tree levelling pickpocketing on sleeping people. Just wait beside them for a second first, let the perk activate and typically i would even wait a little more in non-stealth armor, and once it is levelled a little bit it geta easier. Crowd control is good if you dont want to wait until night to pickpocket.

    Quick little looting tip:
    When you've gone a bit overboard, both you and your horse are fully encumbered but you've still got like a hundred points of weight you need to shed..
    Don't just dump everything out on the floor. Dump it into some form of storage, be it a chest or even a corpse. It will help your hardware by not overcooking it while dumping a massive amount of items into the world at once.

    For herbalism, resistance is an automatic hidden perk, create a new character and you will see you cannot select resistance, you will get it automatically. And for Flower Power, what I've noticed so far is you only need about 30 herbs to get the perk, that's only 3 pounds (Most/if not all herbs are 0.1 lbs for each unit) so it's quite a powerful perk. Leg day only gives 1 strength xp per "pick" not per herb picked (like Herbalism XP) so it's useful but not as amazing as it first seems.

    • @valkyriesardo278
      @valkyriesardo278 Před měsícem

      Strictly speaking, Resistance is not an automatic perk but it is somewhat difficult to avoid. Henry has to gather 100 Nettle to earn the perk. I grant that anyone intent on leveling Herbalism will likely gather thousands of Nettle in the course of the game.

Just ride up to one, shoot a dude and then ride off with the other dudes chasing. Turn when you get some distance and shoot a chaser, then rinse and repeat. You take no damage with the only issue being that they might unseat you if you let them get too close. Archery is OP in this game.

    I personally love this game, I know it’s not gonna be for everybody as it’s much more of a slower paced game. A lot of mechanics feel like they work against you, but as in real life the more you do certain things the better and easier they get. I for one love the alchemy system. I can’t emphasize that enough 😁 it’s just something about following a recipe and learning new recipes makes all that effort in picking herbs and flowers worth it.
    You can also make a good amount of coin for any extras you don’t need.

    My own recommendations (in addition to the ones mentioned in the video), not exhaustiveby any means:
    MAIN - insomniac
    It's not super powerful or anything but there are so few good main perks you will have trouble finding enough to spend them on anyway. There is no downside to it - being tired is never something you want. It's just convenient overall. Ascetic may seem similar regarding food, but it has a downside (even if it's a rare occurrence to starve IMO), but also there are legit reasons to want to be hungry - like being able to take potions without overeating, so while that is a decent pick too - insomniac is usually the first I get.
    VITALITY- human dustbin
    While useful it's not worth a point IMO, for 2 reasons: Vitality has some of the best perks, so you will want to invest them well. Secondly there is no shortage of "travel foods" that do not expire, like dried fruts, dried mushrooms, driet meat ect. These are cheap enough that you can always keep a few on you (or on your horse) and food shouldn't be an issue.
    VITALITY - sprinter
    This comes with the downside of being able to run not as long, but it's faster - and it's so useful for re positioning in battle or chasing people down who are fleeing. Well worth a point IMO as mobility is never not useful. Also the added stamina drain is largely negated as soon as you get a horse as you will rarely marathon-run long distances. (for the exact same reasons the marathon perk is garbage)
    VITALITY - Balanced diet is a decent pick if you when you have a leftover point relatively early in your development. It's not hard to maintain (mostly just pay attention to overeating) and your stats genreally develop slower than anything else, so having some bonuses to these are very nice. They also allow you to use better bows sooner, which is nice if you like archery.
    HUNTING - wild at heart + forester are both essentials IMO. Wild at heart makes hunting twice as easy as you can get a lot closer to your targets. Forester not only amps this up by making you a ninja anytime you are in a forest, but it also applies to combat (ie. hunting humans). There's a lot of cuman camps out there in the forests so unless your playstyle does not involve stealth at all this is fantastic (the buff amount is really huge so even with armor on you will be fairly stealthy).
    LOCKPIKCING - lucky of the drunk. it's easy to overlook this, but it's a golden perk early in your career. Not only does it make it much easier to lockpick if you are struggling with that, but more importantly it lets you attempt high-level locks you otherwise couldn't try until many levels later. Later on this perk becomes irellevant as you won't need the buff, but there are enough bad perks that you can afford this. Master thief is also just a great quality-of-life one. You don't NEED it but getting in and out fast is very useful, and again there's not enough better perks to take that it matters.
    SNEAKING - slim fit. Nuff said. Combined with stuffing from maintainance you will kill your noise very effectively.

If herbalism is 17 before you leave the start zone, then you can use no more than 2 of those freebies after leaving the start zone. Why grind away on 6 levels of a skill that you could obtain with no grinding at all? I would not level any of Henry's skills higher than level 4 while he remains in the start zone. I'm not sure if the main level "Contemplative" perk works whilst you're reading books, if so then the reading "In The Flow" perk becomes redundant. I might test it out later when I'm done questing. Contemplative basically means aslong as you're remaining still your tiredness and hunger will stay the same level. Meaning it never drops, you can stand in the same spot for a week and be completely fine. Since you don't move when reading, I would assume it applies.

    Great video! But this video seems more catered to a combat focused play style. I'm playing a high speech, stealthy hero character and a good number of these don't apply to my character.
    Also food and carrying capacity doesn't seem to be such a bother for me. There are pots at every town and camp for food; and dry fruits barely spoil. Carrying capacity hasn't been a problem for me as much as waiting for the vendors to wake up. The map isn't as big as other RPGs, so traveling to sell isn't so much of a bother.

    Sprinter is probably the best perk in the game. It speeds up everything else you do. The problem with marathon man is that it slows you DOWN from BASE just to get more sprint duration, and by the same percent change. This means that sprinter, base, and marathon man all have nearly the same distance traveled per stamina point. Sprinter is just 20% more sprint speed for no sacrifice. They should have made marathon man keep your sprint speed the same just to get it competitive with sprinter, and I would still pick sprinter.

      @@spaceblockb5284 It depends. Locks which are more than 5 levels above your current skill (+ buffs) give the "too hard" message and you can't attempt them. But a Hard lock can be anything from Level 11 to 15, and a Very Hard from 16 to 20, so if you are (say) a lvl 9 with Padfoot making it 14, you can attempt anything *except* a lvl 20 lock.

    It's a shame that there are no perks in Archery.
    If I were the developer I would add perks similar to the perks from *Skyrim Archery Skill Tree*
    1) *Overdraw*: Stamina loss and power drop from nocking an arrow over time is reduced
    2) *Power Shot*: Arrows can topple enemies down to the ground, even from horseback.
    3) *Crippling Arrow*: An arrow aimed at a target's legs may make them hobble
    4) *Disabling Shot*: An arrow aimed at a target's forearm may make them drop their weapon
    5) *Guidance*: The reticle still remains when the bow is used (a saving grace for console users)
    6) *Adrenaline Rush* : Speed of reloading an arrow is increased by 30%
    7) *Assassin Hunter* : Arrows hitting enemies while in Stealth does more damage by 50% and enemies have a harder time to figure out your hiding location.
    Those are just examples. Any other perks recommendations you got?

    heres a tip u can fast level lockpicking skill by buying loads of lockpicks / stealing / saving them from looting until you have like 500 or so and then finding a very hard lock. then u simply move the mouse fast toward the gold area constantly and spam D. it will break your lock pick repeatedly if u can get it to a rate of 3 or so per second then after 500 are gone youll be master level in about 5 minutes lol

    The best lockpicking perk is Luck of the drunk .With this and some booze you can open any lock at level 6 .Then the perk that makes ur picking silent is a must .

    I think perks that improve noise and charisma, fluid states, not permanent stats, are far more important than stat buffs. You can just up your stats in combat incredibly easily. The ability to sprint after running enemies is also incredibly useful.

    Alchemy: Snake oil salesman... If you're concerned about making money it's one of the better perks to have. Especially if you get both auto brew perks. Selling Lazarus positions can bring in nearly 60 gold a potion with a good rep. Marigold potion can bring in nearly 20 a potion.

      Specifically, the Woman's Lot DLC gives you a dog, and Houndmaster is the skill for having him do things for you. (Mutt is really, really useful, too).

    You can get Resistance in the prologue easily - just pick the countless nettles along the road after leaving Talmberg, you'll have it in no time AND have something nice to sell once the prologue is over (as long as you don't trash your weight limit, of course)

      Unfortunately ascetic has some downsides. More negative effects when overstuffed (not mentioned in the description) and you can drink less potions as you are quite filled all the time.

    I went with light armor thinking i'd be a dodge god.
    Sadly dodging wont leave nearly as many opportunities for jabs like parry does unless you carry a spear. Luckily Vernon Roache hat makes the set look good so i got used to being a fast greatsword parry guy instead.

    Luck of the Drunk to me is the most OP perk in the lockpick tree. As soon as you get it you're able to unlock Very Hard locks. Lockpicks never break and lock extremely easy to unlock. Just carry a pick, some beer or do a saviour schnapps wait for the drinking buff and viola, you have a skeleton key. Be careful when near people though if you're still having trouble keeping it in the gold because it does make 30% more noise. You won't break the pick just the silence.
