In another part of this series, Crystal Jow will take you through recreating new generative works in the style Edoardo Landi , who is a Italian artist that explores the viewer's perception with optical illusions. This will cover how to use instancing in TouchDesigner to create a interactive piece with the cursor.

this was great easy to follow. just wandered how to add a video instead of a triangle.

Thanks, glad to hear it! To replace the triangle with a video, you can add a Movie File In TOP and connect that to the Null TOP that we named “shape” in the video. Hope that helps!

where i would i put in the video input if i wanted to use that instead of a mouse?

You can connect the video the rotInst Null TOP, but you’ll want to also add a Fit TOP to ensure that it’s been scaled to the correct resolution (following the same steps Crystal uses to set the size of the circle TOP based on the grid SOP). Another thing that might be worth trying is a threshold TOP or increasing the contrast so that there’s a dramatic difference between the dark and light sections of the video. Hope that helps!
