- Harry Roy & His Orchestra from The May Fair Hotel London. Recorded in London on November 13th 1934.
The song was written by Con Conrad (music) and Herb Magidson (lyrics) for the 1934 US RKO Musical Picture "The Gay Divorcee", starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Here's a link to the film scene, in which Ginger sings it to Fred: • The Continental (song)...
The song was the first to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1935 and became very popular, recorded by artists like Frank Sinatra (1950 and 1964), Harry James with Rosemary Clooney (1952) or Maureen McGovern (1976).
The version you hear in this video is an elegant instrumental one.
The Orchestra was a British Dance Band formed in the early 1930s by Harry Roy. They initially broadcasted from London venues, Café Anglais and The Mayfair Hotel.
"Harry Roy (12 January 1900 - 1 February 1971) was a British dance band leader and clarinet player from the 1920s to the 1960s. He performed several songs with suggestive lyrics, including" My Girl's Pussy" (1931), and "She Had to Go and Lose It At the Astor" (1939)."

Gerade Kommentar geschrieben… alles weg…
