Krypto getting his own movie is a fun idea with alot of potential. Iâm just scratching my head as to why the writers didnât just use more super pets that already exist. Plus, Iâm not really a fan of making super pets have to save the day because their owners are easily thwarted and theyâre all thatâs left. Give them their own villains, have the Justice League handle some kind of galactic level threat, and they have to handle a more home grown villain.
Krypto had his own Show in the early 2000s it covered alot of stuff like that
Sequel plot maybe.
@@shadowwolf8434 that show was my childhood
Actually, the turtle, squirrel, and, of course, Ace all do exist in the comics. I don't know about the pig though...
But yeah. When I first heard about the movie, I thought they were gonna use Jumpa and an already Green-Lantern Ch'p.
Yeah, I can see why but Iâm not so sure if it was their greatest move.
I heard that Batman was one of Keanuâs dream roles to play. So him finally getting his dream role and absolutely nailing the part is heartwarming to hear.
What happened they didnt use will arnet again though?
Aw! I actually love that!
now thats a wholesome 100 reddit moment
@@antonto1 Maybe he was only kept on as Lego Batman, but after WB lost the rights to Lego, they decided to start fresh with someone new
Batman can take out criminals with a pencil.
Iâm gonna be honest when I first saw the trailer it just reminded me of Secret Life of Pets but with the DC brand, but from a pure art style standpoint it looks like it couldâve been fun to work on as an artist/animator
Yeah, same here
@Thor. Are you a bot?
True
Wholly agree. Side note, after that annoying ass buddy-spy movie with Kevin Hart and The Rock in it, I don't want to watch anything else they team up in lol.
@@LoveMyUnusual haha thatâs fair. I feel like hearing the two of them as dogs felt a bit off, an example of not being able to separate the characters and the actors in a bad way, breaks immersion I guess? Idk tho I havenât actually watched it, might wait till it comes out of theaters
As a long time DC fan, I can definitely say that the Warner Brothers' animation department pretty much /always/ does a better job on their movies than the live action one. And I think a big part of that is because most of their projects are straight-to-DVD or streaming titles, so the writers and artists don't have Big-Corporate breathing down their necks like they do whenever they're working on the Hollywood films
True
I agree, I really liked a LOT of the DC direct-to-video movies and even own quite a few theyâre usually even a good re-watch. Iâve enjoyed watching others on HBO go. (Still wish theyâd add zeta project and although itâs not DC Mary Shellyâs Frankenhole) DCAU movies usually have good animation and music and well-choreographed fights. Maybe Bruce Timâs success convinced them to let creators do what they do. Gosh even their shorts can be a lot of fun, thereâs a green arrow one I really like. I really like Superman vs the Elite even if the ending is a bit of a cop-out. Oh and Crisis on two earths is great I always like to picture Harley watching it and going âIâm the freakinâ MONKEY!?â There were a few that the character designs drove me nuts cuz the necks were so thick
And the Harley Quinn show? AMAZING and really funny and feminist (dr psycho calling Wonder Woman the C word will NEVER not be funny to me) and my mom saw doom patrol admittedly not animated and said âwhere has this show been all my life?â
Even if the fans consider DCAMU to be the worst animated dc universe, it's still better than dceu
True, it's been a thing since the '90s it seems. When Mask of the Phantasm was released in theaters, most people considered it surprisingly more mature than when Batman Forever was released around the same time period.
@@mysticblue0222 And there's more stuff they could explore, like even a self contained series based on the Sword of the Atom storyline that DC Nation tried, but didn't complete, sadly. Or go from DC Showcase stuff like an Adam Strange animated series, which they're supposedly doing a live action one called Strange Adventures.
I gotta say, I had no hopes going in, but to be fair I did find myself chuckling in amusement at times. It wasn't anything ground-breaking, but I enjoyed it to a degree and it had moments that I had to give proper credit to it being actually entertaining at times.
It's basically Bolt meets Secret Life of Pets, but they did good with what they had to work with.
@@PIB2000 Agreed. It came out pretty alright so definitely can't complain.

Alright - Iâll give it a watch :)
The "What is this, paw patrol?" Joke had the theater dying, I was surprised from this film
I wanted to actually die laughing but I just clapped I usually do that when something really funny happens and that joke was great
All of the kids started laughing in the theater for me
I saw this movie in theaters and when the line came up, a bunch of kids suddenly screamed. I guess they liked it lmfao
I watched the movie in VR! I literally DIED there!
The digs toward the MCU wear out their welcome
A Pup Named Scooby-Doo was absolutely the best of the "kidified" cartoons of the era. The jokes were great and landed on so many layers.
That versiĂłn of Velma is like super adorable
@@lamecasuelas2
Literally, all of them are adorable, but Velma is the cutest.
What about Tiny Toon Adventures? That was a pretty good "kidified" cartoon from that era as well.
I actually miss it, ngl
Red Herring!!!
"They have a blood pact until the end of time" is probably the most accurate description of their relationship
The âwealthy person actually goes to Jailâ was definetly a good one

The most unrealistic part in a movie about animals with superpowers.
I cried laughing. I can just imagine some unpaid animator letting out frustration in that

And that isn't just something they made up, he goes back to Golden Age Flash, McSnurtle the Turtle or the Terrific Whatzit. Unlike the pig that they pulled out of thin air, though I guess a kangaroo would've been pretty out there
@@ToHoldNothing I figured they picked a pig as a wonder woman super fan as a nod to the JL animated series, but I haven't seen anything confirming that

@@darkshadowrule2952 I could see that, though the powers it has are also kind of odd: size changing, iirc

I feel like Marvel has more potential than they've ever had, but they're not really doing anything with it yet. A lot of their content is just not good enough to really hit home. Marvel is finally having an expansive universe and starting to feel like the comics. But they need to really do something with it.
They really need to do animated movies, too. Yeah, What If is working, but...I have a feeling people are gonna get tired of that rather quick...
I stopped caring about Marvel after endgame. I watched no way home but that's just because spiderman is one of my favorite superheroes
Forget it. As long as you have the same people in charge as there are right now, you're getting nothing like what you think it should provide.
@u know me forget to switch accounts, bot?
Nah. Disney realised that theyâre now making money from marvel no matter what they do so they started slowly forcing their politics and representations into the movies. They were experimenting with captain marvel and they learnt that they canât force it in all at once so they took the slow approach. Marvel lost its potential, now itâs slowly dying. Wait until next phase and every marvel movie is going to be worse than the bat woman tv show and captain marvel combined. Donât believe me? Look at Star Wars. Not good enough? Go look at modern marvel comics where Disney has already finished infecting it slowly. Now itâs moved on to ruin the movies
I remember watching Krytpo the super dog when I was younger, glad to hear that this is pretty good
I just wish they had kept Ace's personality/breed from the cartoon... But, good enough imo
I was surprised at how funny the movie was. It wasn't hilarious and none of the jokes were original by any means but something about the way they were incorporated caught me off guard. We've seen secretly evil cute characters before but the kitten caught me off guard and I found it hilarious. We've had meta humor about rich people before but the Lex and Bruce jokes still got me. Even when characters said things like slay and queen I didn't find it cringy like I normally would.
5.5/10 would watch with my siblings to laugh at it.
Yeah, just from watching clips, i'm kinda impressed at how creative they are with the kitten's powers (especially the hairball grenade).
Cats vs dogs movie had a kitten with hairball grenades too
I would give it a 7/10
âWealthy person actually goes to jailâ đđđđ
not all movies have to be groundbreaking masterpieces, they just have to know what they are and be good at it
I loved J.L from like the early 2000's. Never was able to finish it until recently and the ending was pretty well written.

Yes loved all the DC animated universe from 90âs-2000âs Iâm still not sure Iâve seen it all but some episodes still really hit hard!
Justice League is what got me into DC to begin with, one of the best cartoons of the 2000's in my opinion

great show
5:05 Ace the Bathound has been Batman's companion for a long time, though in New 52 he was renamed Tidus, something I didn't know until he appeared in one of the animated Batman DVD movies. He apparently did later gain the nickname of "Ace" though (apparently a separate Ace showed up in Rebirth anyway so now there's two Aces lol). Ace even appeared in Batman Beyond, even though he'd be a dinosaur in dog years. Ace certainly has been inconsistent breed-wise though, German shepherd, black dane, and now boxer?!
I think in Batman Beyond that Bruce found Ace only two years or so before he met Terry.
Also think there's an episode that states that Ace is a German Shepard Great Dane mix, I could be misremembering though.
At one point, he was a greyhound as well from what I remember.
Tbh Batman goes through sidekicks like crazy, so having Ace be a bunch of different dog breeds kinda makes sense
@@1unartic No, it appears Titus is a mix like Batman Beyond Ace, in fact in the movie I mentioned, Batman: Hush, Titus even had pretty much the same design as Batman Beyond Ace but he has brown fur in the comics, looking closer to Scooby-Doo.
@@NovaMaster375 Not really the same thing at all. There's only one Ace and/or one Titus in any given canon. There's four canon Robins and three canon Batgirls, two of which were retconned after Flashpoint to never have been Batgirl. Not sure if Rebirth changed that as it really seems to undo a lot of the New 52 BSery.
What kinda built up some confidence for this movie is when i discovered that Matt Williams, one of the animators behind Tarzan, was the character designer behind this movie
Wasn't he the same guy who did the music video for the song, "Freak of The Week"?
@@connorbeith3232 Yup, and Klaus too
I also went into the movie with low expectations like "oh talking animal movie I am obligated to watch it" but I was also deeply surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I would rate it one level up from "fine" and say it was good. 7/10. It what it needed to do and it did it fairly well. I laughed a lot, rolled my eyes are the cringier humor, but all in all want to see it again. If I'm being honest I wish they borrowed more from the cartoon series and had Sparky in it. I did like how they did Krypto's character struggling to get along with other pets and animals because he doesn't have an identity outside of being the Superdog and slowly evolving as a dog and an individual. The parts about his relationship with superman was funny, we had some good jokes but that was about it, I honestly didn't care about that plot thread with Lois Lane.
Why were you obligated to watch it đł
Gosh how could they leave Streaky out! He was my favorite character!
Yeah, I remember watching the trailer and thinking "Where's Streaky?" It took me a while to realize they weren't gonna reference the show...
â@@lylelylecrocodile2538 Kiddos, my friend.
Or perhaps that's our excuse for going to children's movies
I was surprised at first that they didn't include Streaky, but they had two reasons
1: They needed Krypto to be alone from a story standpoint so he could learn to work as a team.
2: In Krypto's act-3 rampage, we saw they were including comics-accurate power levels, with the Kryptonians at god-level even compared to the others. Taking down Clark and Krypto in one fell swoop was impressive. Taking down Kara and Streaky as well would feel even more ridiculous than the Justice League's capture.
I feel they're probably saving Streaky for if they get an animated series. Since the ending scene (before the end-credits scenes) was setting up for a potential show, random pets are getting superpowers and need help navigating it as the drama of the week, and then they can introduce this cat who got all the krypton powers, have him live with Krypto and Superman for awhile, then introduce Supergirl if things are going well.
Saving streaky is an almost guaranteed way to make us older fans watch too.
I know Disney doesnât own the âwhite dog that acts like a superhero/ loveable dunce animalâ but I just realised how similar bolt and crypto are. I loved bolt anyway so I donât mind another character similar
You're not burned out by superheroes, it's that the genre has had a sharp decline since Endgame which the genre was already on decline before that.
Superhero movies still makes over hundreds of millions of dollars.
Do you mean by just over quality or the writing?
I think you've got films mixed up with comics, it's the comics that are in decline
Since endgame, it really feels like all the good writers retired alongside cap and tony XP
@@ExtremeMadnessX so did the emoji movie. Would you say the emoji movie was good?
I appreciate the "whelmed" reference. Also the "Flash destroying Hawaii" joke. Both good references and topical.
One thing I'll vouch for when it comes to this movie is that yes, the animation looks really cool and is the only reason I have any interest in seeing it. Krypto especially is designed very impressively (and I'm just speaking stylistically FYI)
I've watched a lot of DC content that's more aimed for kids than adults that I've enjoyed, but like Teen Titans Go!, this seems like it's not one of those things I'll enjoy watching just from the trailers. I'm still missing animated DC stuff that's aimed for kids but is still enjoyable to older teens and adults.
Teen titans go was good tho.
@@zzodysseuszz You're entitled to your incorrect opinion.
@@zzodysseuszz even if it was good, I didn't feel entertained from the episodes of the show I did watch.
same, like i used to watch Justice League (both the original and Unlimited), along with Young Justice when it was back on Netflix. trust me, those tv shows, though meant for kids, were really pretty dark at times.
I guess the DC Animated Features (y'know the straight-to-video ones) might be more of your thing, but that's just me.
Ace is such a good boy in Batman Beyond. I like him better when he's a Great Dane, so much more sleek and intimidating.
Beyond is so underrated, it has one of the best exchanges between a hero and villain
"Who are you?"
"You killed my father."
"Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?"
@@JargonMadjin Recently watched through Beyond again with my wife. Was so excited to see this scene again.
He's of the same breed as Scooby Doo and he still manages to be an intimidating badass đ
I prefer classic Ace out of the three incarnations, but I do have a fondness for German Shepherds.
5:30
gotta love that the flash is more know for being the terror of hawai than for being the lightning in the photos.

@Thor. bruh who liked this
I remember I was starting to give up on animation for this year thinking it wasn't going to get better than meh to bad and... I actually really liked it?
It took time to get good (I think the first 15-20 minutes were a bit iffy), but when it got good I thought it got pretty good and I'm so glad it didn't fall into any of the tropes I typically hate. The characters also were really good, Ace's backstory especially actually got me. Personally an 8/10 movie for me
Also I'm shocked it's sort of underperforming cause Minions 2 and Paws of Fury I watched the day early in theaters and there was next to no one, but this the theater was packed
@@pokefanalex9504 They really dropped the ball with Paws of Fury by not naming it Blazing Samurai.

A sequel would be interesting
I honestly wasnât excited for this or interested, but when I saw it it was refreshing, a fun movie that wasnât dumb or immature like Secret Life of Pets, or dark like all the other DC movies, it was just a fun movie
Yes I liked it too...........I believe that is all that it was really supposed to be.......a fun movie
I really liked the movie. I found they gave Kevin Hart a more serious voice acting roll and it worked compared to him being the bunny in secret life of pets.
Don't get me wrong I love him as the bunny in secret life of pets but that one is a very comical role compared to Ace being a very serious dog
I havenât seen the movie and this was something I was really wondering about. Like every incarnation of Ace has been a really serious dog, so I was kinda confused when I saw he was voiced by Kevin and was wondering if they decided to forgo the more serious aspects of him. Pretty happy to hear that wasnât the case.
Yeah, I was nervous going in because Kevin Hart does tend to be over the top and was afraid it would be like his performances in Secret Life of Pets or Captain Underpants, but he really was kinda subdued in this, and it worked. Like yeah, he and Dwayne Johnson have their blood pact, but this one I feel like they reined in Hart, made him the straight man who is done with everyone and just wants to do right by the other pets, and that gave Johnson the chance to really shine as the clueless comedic one, which he did really well. Side note: I want to see the footage of Dwayne Johnson cry singing Bad Blood
@@Trumpeter667 he can do serious well. I literally cried my eyes out during Fatherhood and he was Fantastic in the Upside. Honestly I like him better as a serious cynic then a comedic actor
The joke you mentioned about Flash destroying Hawaii made me cackle way too much
Didn't know the Lego Batman director was on this. That makes me slightly more interested in it. Thanks for the review, Saber!
The weirdest part for me was when the turtle actually swore, but it was beeped out. Like "I can't see sh*t*" that caught me offguard, didn't expect it from a kids movie. The jokes were funny, some were hilarious. Probably most of them were about Batman.
I loved when batman watched krypto and superman play and then while veryone was silent just announced "i miss my parents" I miss comedic batman the super serous and gritty batman is cool but so is comedic batman

On a non-related note : the pig in this movie is the cutest thing i've ever seen.
Something I've learned: don't go into movies with expectations. Just choose movies based on what seems like the ideas could POTENTIALLY be fun.
I went to see Jurassic world recently with my wife and her mom, because mom wanted to see cool, CGI dinosaurs. After hearing all the bad reviews online, I was ready for a terrible time, but I ended up kind of jamming along with the action.

âWho is played by Dwayne the rock Johnson. Weâre even bringing in Kevin heart cause they got a blood pact, till the end of timeâ
Literally though, theyâre in every movie together
A few movie recommendations, they are in my opinion underrated.
1. The song of the sea, it is, in my opinion, a masterpiece. But it does get boring it always makes up for it by showing you something new.
2. The story book of life, amazing and fun movie.
3. the little prince, a fun sad yet telling story.
4. MUNE: GUARDIAN 0F THE M00N a beatiful story with amazing characters, such a lovely premise and is a chill movie to watch on remembering
Most of these came from my childhood and is overall fun movies.
Literally all of the Cartoon Saloon films are amazing, from Wolfwalkers to The Secret of Kells, though I will say that Kells did have a racist depiction of some characters, unfortunately. There's also The Breadwinner, which is a bit more dark and grim.
I have been waiting for this for SOOOO long
I wasn't expecting it to be great but found myself laughing at some scenes. I also agree with you that Lulu is amazing! I love this villain. If any see it in theaters, note there is an End Credits scene and a Post-Credits scene in this film.
I'm a big Superman fan and I also love storys about the partnership/friendship between a human and their pet/monster (what ever). So I have to watch this movie. I also had fun with the Scooby Doo movie last year (or was it two years ago? đ€).
Iâve never been this early. Been watching for about 3 years now, so proud of this achievement. KEEP WATCHING MOVIES LETS GOOOO!

The turtle cussing a few times made me laugh so hard. My brain auto filled the bleeps, and I actually was not expecting that out of this movie.
I cracked up when those moments happened
"The Flash who is destroying Hawaii right now"
Nice
Got to see this for an Advanced Screening. Had to cancel streaming and went with my mom, niece, and my mother's friend from work. I had to admit, it was enjoyable with moments that made me go "da faq?" Overall, it was a decent movie. It's even better if you didn't pay a full price.
If I had a Nickel for every time Dwayne Johnson was cast as a DC character, I would have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird how it happened twice.
I was so worried when I saw this film (seeing how Krypto and Ace were characters I loved in my childhood), but I loved this film. Yeah the Justice League is portrayed a bit weirdly but the positives of the film outweigh the negatives- the humor is on point, the voice actors do a great job (specifically Kevin Hart), and the story though simple and stereotypical was charming. Not a perfect film, but a fun one that Iâll be watching again.
Also the tract that they actually call out the plot holes (like the news titles questioning how easy it was to defeat the Justice league and Ace wondering why Krypto was inviting Lulu to join them after Luthor betrayed them) were funny
0:31 Cr1TiKaL (aka Penguinz0) just made a video with this exact point. You are definitely not alone.

To be clear, its not superhero fatigue. Its woke superhero cosplay that people are sick of. And poor, halfassed writing. So.... 95% of Marvel and DC.
Imo superhero stuff needs new universes to explore because I'm kinda burnt out on seeing the same stuff over and over again, I don't even want new Iron Man content even though I liked those movies, so don't worry about trying to bring your own superhero universe to life. Who knows, maybe it'll be the breath of fresh air we need

The turtle had the best humor with just cursing that was censored
I was skeptical going in, but Iâm now obsessed. Iâm gonna need at least 2 more of these-
The Secret Life of Super Pets! Eh? Eh? đ đ
I watched this movie and I honestly loved it! That is all.
I liked it too
The part with Whiskers was so good, so adorable
i love that description. also i've seen this movie poster everywhere in my mom's town
3:06 Guessing you didn't watch DC Super Hero Girls (you know, the show Lauren Faust worked on after leaving MLPFiM? Not the webseries, that was made by someone else entirely, I couldn't really get into it) or you'd already be familiar with her. She is best girl in that show and I don't even like green, at all. I also liked her in Justice League vs Fatal Five but not as much. Weird thing is that in DCSG, I'm pretty sure she has the Ring of Volthoon (previously owned by the evil Hal Jordans of Earth-3 and Earth-Three ), which would make her Power Ring, not Green Lantern. In the comics she didn't get a GL ring until later.
I miss when voice actors voiced cartoons. They were leagues better
Me too dude love Richard Steven Horvatz, Rob Paulson, Frank Welker, Ben Disken, all of them
@@TylerAStinson Richard Horvitz is still doing voice work, if I recall he reprised his role of Raz for Psychonauts 2 (which released in 2021, although it clearly took several years to happen for a variety of reasons) and as most people probably already know, works on the webcartoon Helluva Boss where he voices a character and also helps with voice direction if I recall. He's commonly known for Invader Zim which got a Netflix film back in 2019.
So Richard's still at it, which is great
!!! I've done a work experience thing at Animal Logic. It seemed like a pretty cool place (employees get a ready-made lunch from a professional chef everyday?? It was a moderately small team when I was there several years back). I was there for a week and they were hinting at 'oh, we have a reaaaaally cool project we'd love to talk to you about but we can't talk to you aboutttttt' and then on the Wednesday the Lego Movie trailer dropped, so we got to see behind the scenes! It was awesome. They showed us how they did shots like the ocean waves moving (it was painful) and how they didn't make up any imaginary lego bricks: all the ones in the movie were real lego bricks you can buy.
Anyway. Maybe I'll go see this movie on principle. I saw the Lego Movie despite not being interested cos I felt I had to, and boy am I glad I did haha
3:31 why does Lex Luthor look like Gollum from Lord Of The Rings??? Lmfao
I was bit disppointed since i grew with Krypto the superdog so I was hoping see Streaky, but Whiskers was nice . Overall I found the it meh didn't care for most of the characters besides the Whiskers and the Lulu. I did laugh at some moments and animation was nice.
I don't know about this one man, I went to go see it in theaters and it was so close to being the first movie I ever walked out of. Every single bad joke was like a stab in the brain, all the characters were an abomination to witness. Putting the 'dog' in 'dogshit'
The first time i saw the trailer i was absoloutely excited for this and couldnt wait for its release, and i absoloutely loved it
"Will she be with Flashy, who's currently destroying Hawaii."
Nice one Saber lol
3:25 What they did to my boy and girl Cyborg and Jessica Cruz? I don't not like those designs at all, they should gone with the Peanuts adults styles (not showing their faces)
A hero is measured by the villains they face and they are burning through the villains like nothing. Only a few villains survive one movie. In the comics we have some expense with returning villains because they often come with new plots, new angles and so on. Everyone in Marvel knows its bad news if they meet Doctor Doom, but with no one getting to know a villain? With the heroes barely escaping him, just barely beating his plan?
It's just, new villain, hero has to figure out villain, hero beats villain, villain dies. Rinse and repeat. That's what we get in the movies right now. That's what we are burning out on.
Also, seeing the line-up of movies and shows to come? I have no interest in these heroes or no trust in the people in charge right now making it good.
League of Super Pets? Not interested.
I'm glad I watch your videos so I know about every animated animal movie
I cried when Ace tried to save that girl and then he got thrown into the pound because he was a "bad dog" and an "attacker." It really hurt me because if Ace didn't help that baby girl would have died.
