I allways amazes me how someone can get on a bike they have obiviousley never ridden before and pull away without familiarising themselves with the controles first .

Before you ride a bike, please look at the controls. If you cant cancel the turn signal stop safely and work it out. Other than that I enjoyed watching your vid.

nice review ! well i maybe found the upgrade i was looking for after 2 SV's 650S, for the moment i don't have anything i'm travelling around the world. i just loved my svs. i'am a commuter/fun/track/travel motocycle enthusiast, i do everything with it. I already looked back in time that bmw years ago between my 2 svs, but i readed some bad stuff about reliability for the 2006 models. in 2014 i was close to buy a 650 scarver, but it was 1 cylinder and a bit ugly and not so good in high speed corner.
I owned an harley davidson 883 04 sporsters, and for sure i miss that cam belt and the smoothness you have in city. Well this bike is like a little more comfy, way better in brakes and more torque at low end, witch i 'm looking for. I like the style, it's under the sv for me but i like , it's like a baby k1200/1300s. I love definitively thoses bmw panniers looks. for someone ride trough paris, have to evolve in high density citys weigh for me is crucial. Vfr are nice but heaviers. I prefer the sound of the SV but this twin is like a boxter engine, pretty nice.

One would hope that even a learner would familiarize themselves with the turn indicator controls before setting off on a bike. Yes, the BMW indicator controls are weird, and I am not defending them. When I first got my F800GS I nearly launched myself into an intersection when I inadvertently rolled on some throttle while reaching for the cancel button. Not a good layout!

+Mr. Short awesome, you will be happy. If you find one it will be the perfect learner. It's decently quick and pretty stout. That 800 i rode was his first bike and hes had his for 7 years. Stood up to a low speed parking lot drop too.

The bike kicks after 4300rpm. Like a powerband 2 stroke.
S and ST were available together at the same time.
They stopped the S earlier than the ST and the current version is the F800GT which has made it still more tourer based than the ST.
Not worth selling because few people understand the bike.
I converted all the lamps to LEDs. Every lamp. Massive learning curve of the nuance of Canbus electronics.

This bike is ENTIRELY UNSUITABLE as a learner. bike for the SIMPLE reason that even at 2500rpm it will launch forward due to its torque. Conversely, a 600cc 4cyl 110hp bike is like a puppy under 5000rpm therefore a beginner can keep it at low rpm and thus minimize the risk.
