Finally! Thank you so much for a very complete and honest review of this pedal! I get so tired of reviews that wind up being nothing more than someone trying to show off their riffs or making stupid jokes. You gave a very good rundown of what this pedal actually does, both good and bad, and answered all the questions I still had about this pedal. I do a single act, with both acoustic and electric guitars and loopers, and I have spent years and countless $$ trying to fatten up my bottom end. I have come very close many times, and now it looks like this pedal is going to get me closer than anything else I have tried. Thanks again!

Already bought one and love it
I have tried several times but each time I I'm unsuccessful in dividing up the signals. The direct out Goes into my ds 1, And the bass out goes into my flanger, then into the looper, then into input b on my amp. It never works. I cannot separate the signals to save my life. I have no idea what im doing wrong.
This will probably be the second pedal I buy. The first was the RC-5 and I'm loving it.
Where do you put the OC-5 in your signal chain? I perform as a one-man band loop set-up, and I’d like to use the OC-5 to fatten up electric guitar sections (when I don’t record a separate bass loop).
Do you use the OUTPUT to send the bass away from your distortion/FX pedals?

Thank you for clearly explaining how the -2oct/Range works with Poly mode @ 2:09 ... when I was watching other videos I couldn't understand how the range works WITH the -2oct, the other videos don't explain that poly removes the -2oct in place of the range. Honest review with tracking expectations with poly, that's appreciated and gives me something to consider... the 12 string sim sounds pretty awful, way too grainy digital, I have the Digitech Mosaic, that does a far better job of 12 string simulation (but does nothing else). Cheers.
I'd been wondering if it was worth upgrading from my OC3, but it doesn't sound like it is. From OC2 to 5 sounds like it's worth it, but my 3 is still fine for what I need.

I have the OC5 for my pedalboard and play acoustic fingerstyle with KnK pickup system. The OC will not sustain a bass note for more than a second or so before it begins to warble and degrade. I've played with EVERY possible setting and this thing is either a defective unit or it just doesn't cut it. Much more frustration than I bargained for.
Iv been having this problem…. Not tried it with an electric yet though. Or I may need an OC3
I never heard anything sounding like the bass guitar in my head during this demo.
The “Precision” and “Virtual”settings in the EHX: BASS-9 pedal, however DO trick my ear & brain enough when setting down a looping bass track. (my 2cts.)
…with a second listening, it was the Octave Up that didn’t sound good to my ears, & did not contribute much of value as I search for a way to easily add bass to my looping. Your comments mirrored my impression.
Man I'm looking fo something I can loop with as well, and simulate a bass sound. Have you found anything that does it well?
*Disappointing experience!*
Bought the OC-5 for acoustic guitar (whereas the OC-3 would have been good enough, since I don´t like octave +1 sounds, which seems to be the only new feature on the OC-5)
*The Range knob all the way left - in polymode:*
1) fingerpicking? No way.. it triggers the higher strings as well, after a bass note was played.
2) when strumming chords, some of them are clean, but some tend to trigger the 5th of the chord - but with a kind of bass- feedback. (I always mute unwanted strings, but still it wants to trigger them a bit too)
When I stop strumming and play the particular note alone, it feeds back with a wobbling sound: "woo, woo ,woo , wooo" - louder than the other bass notes. (similar to a frequency overload)
This gives me a very unpleasing trash sound at the lower range on some chords.
Quite disturbing, and yes, significantly reduces my pleasure to play with it.
Output level about 11 o´clock, JBL EON One Compact.
Hopefully with new strings it will become better, but it seems as if the dividing frequency technique is not as reliable as advertised.

Only thing that bothers me about this pedal is the upper octave notes sound like they’re out of tune or something. Especially noticeable when playing chords in poly mode. Edit: the “or something” I was thinking of is that distortion! I couldn’t quit tell what it was but I knew something else was wrong...
Plus one octaves are usually a bit disappointing, harsh, grainy, etc. I think all the other tones are good here.
Intense talking style
If you call this pedal the best on the world then you need to actually compare it with other pedals.
It's a good demo otherwise.
Some utter bollox in this review. Definitely a blinkered review.
