Thanks for checking out the video guys!
**IMPORTANT NOTE**
I didn’t mention in the video, I got too excited but the ‘Lowest’ mode is where it’s at! It only adds the octave effect to the lowest note you play, irrespective of how complex your chords are, it’ll just add it to the lowest note! So sick!
You got so excited you forgot that you actually DID mention it. 1:59
You are looking extremely fit these days my man. Nice one. You
Bye bye "Micro Pog" (gonna keep it, anyway.
What about latency, tracking vs the all time star Micro Pog?
MY GOD
they've done it...
@@12_AX_7 I feel you, bro. This is one of those special pickups (submarine? little thunder? I don't remember the names) but in a pedal. Very well designed.
Thanks for checking out the OC-5 Bea - glad you love it!
Hard not to love, great work guys
My pleasure! You know I love you guys!
BOSS Katana
Great pedal! You couldn't have chosen a better musician to give it a whirl.
Blown away, I’m buying one
if I ever wanted one of my non-existant products to be sponsored, I’d ask to Bea.
not only I wanna buy an OC5 now, but also a SLO100, a PRS Paul’s Guitar, a new pair of hands...
Don't forget an afro
Finally, you are the only one on youtube that knows how to use an octaver. All the others are just "oh, look... I can emulate an awful organ or a broken 12 strings!".
That is probably some of the best sounds you’ve made. Thank you for the inspirational playing Bea!
Rabea is the best guitar pedal reviewer out there. Being a brilliant musician with a producer's ear, I think he shows everything the viewer can expect in a pedal.
Hey, Pete Thorn is right up there with Bea! czcams.com/users/sinasl1
@@SilverPaladin seconded. Pete Thorn & Rabea are both equally GOAT
don't forget Andy
Don't forget Stefan from the Pedal Zone!!!
Love Rabea on Andertons and his own channel .... Jonathan Herrera did a GREAT review for OC-5 Bass guitar applications... check him out, the dude deserves more subs!
16:56 I love that "Nuno Betterncourt" style lick. Great demo!
Your guitar playing is astonishing as always, man! I started playing guitar 3 years ago and you've always been my biggest inspiration since then. Thnk you soooo much for sharing what you do, you're simply the best. Cheers!
man, your strat playing is just so spectacular. it's old school epic strat tones with an amazing modern style of demented cool chords and single note runs. it screams emotion/feeling.
Sold. They finally added the octave up.
The tones are absolutely insane Bea. Thank you so much for this review, I think I've found my new octave pedal too, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one here...!
You are you of the best pedals reviewers hands down!! Fantastic review of the Boss OC-5. Nice to see someone reviewing a pedal subjectively, but also showing sharing what their personal preferences and how they would use it. Cheers from Canada
Dude, Rabea, I just gotta say that of all the guitarists who have a major online presence, you might be the one who I enjoy listening to the most. Well... you and Dan from That Pedal Show. Just hearing you (and Dan, who obviously has the highest respect for you) noodle around is not only really interesting, but full of feeling and soul. Lotsa feels, lotsa soul.
Great Review man! It was cool of you to share some of your secrets with us! I can understand some of your Toska stuff a lot more after you described how this pedal effects your tone! I agree, the range function on Poly mode kills!
Maaaaatte, EPIC video, first time watching your stuff, wicked talent, and such passion and enjoyment - Love it - OC5 in the mail to me right now.
By far the best pedal demo I've seen in a long time! Keep doing what you do...and Thanks!
THANK YOU for specifically explaining the range function as it relates to the Polyphonic feature. I have not been using my pedal correctly and not knowing why, and now I do!
Love my OC-3! Thanks for throwing all these ideas! Your video will definitely help me explore this effect further!
This sounds great. Love the octave effect. Excellent Demo Rabea! Love your playing. The initial tone with just the strat and soprano was fantastic!
Excellent vid, Rabea! Covered all the bases in a clear and straightforward fashion without, as some are prone to do, spinning off into vast riffage. Really nicely focused. ✅👍
Hey man, I know you did this video 13-14 months ago, but I just discovered it-and you for that matter. Thanks for doing this video, I ordered one of these pedals last week and it came yesterday while I was at work; I stayed up all night jamming with it-the pedal rocks man. Like I said, this is my first exposure to you. You are fun to listen to and watch; you can see and hear that authentic, kid-like, love of music that you have; you've got a new fan. I subscribed to the channel, I am going to go check your bands, and catch up on the old(er) videos you have. All that said, thanks again... this pedal is fun as hell, and you're the only person I have seen review it who genuinely looked like they were having fun too. Rock and Roll man!
Thanks for the great Demo and explanation of the Boss OC-5. You're an incredible player!
You absolutely nailed Nuno's tone! I too have known the obsession that comes from experiencing the solo from Stiff!
Hell yeaaah, you made that sound so rad Bea!
People are going to loveee this pedal for sure!
Thanks Sophie! The video you did with BOSS and Jack was just awesome! Really enjoyed it!
Great demo! I've gone through a few octaves, and that range control is exactly what I need as well. Very excited to add this to my board.
Man, i'm glad that your preference of pedals are not obvious and not predictable, you make it sound awesome and unique, and inspires to me to make things that are aparently unusable-->usable . Thank you! It's like "oh its says it monophonic, i don't give a shit, i'm gonna play chords and glitch the fuck out of this thing"
I'm here for the gain... that Soldano is fuggin sick! Kinda diggin that OC-5. Cool vid, man... cheers!
Awesome vid! Thanks 🙏🏻 Ordered mine last night! Your sounds are brilliant!
I don't mean to gush, but man, I gotta' say you are a badass. The different tones you can get and the different play styles you have... Seriously, it's a treat to watch you and listen. I just want to thank you for the vids and everything you do man. I have been getting back into playing guitar and due in no small part to you.
Fantastic review! Was set on getting a nano POG and after watching this I just pulled the trigger on the OC-5. The range control was the key feature that won it for me. Thanks Rabea 👏
I had no idea you can do all that with this pedal, definetly getting one now, you are an amazing guitartist! thank you for this!
19:45 when the mean riffs start flowing!!!! Love that stuff dude! Love all of it though. Bea your the best man. Cheers!
Fantastic review Rabea. Broke that pedal down step by step plus guitar face and 16.54! Mine landed Friday.
Absolutely, right about using the "Range" control. This sold me! Thank you Rebea...
I am blown away! Excellent demo Bea!
Yep, I'm buying this pedal now. Excellent demo and love that you demonstrated it with high gains well as playing a Strat and hum bucker style guitar.
Outstanding ! You are the total package. I am going to give my mxr blue box another try. thank you !
Rabea - I've really come to appreciate your playing, your style, and you as a human being! You just seem like a kool bloke! Seriously, thank you for your reviews, your temperament, your playing, and your genuineness. You come across as a friend telling another friend what he thinks of a particular piece of gear...and enthusiastically so. Cheers!
p.s. - you are looking fit as another poster commented... PLEASE do a short vid of how you got into shape. There are a bunch of us who put on more than a covid-"19"...!
Killer new pedal from Boss. I have been using my POG 2 for years with both electric and acoustic and it is a super versatile effect. A little goes a long way. Thanks for the vid Bea. Love your music dude.
Looking forward to trying this out. Thanks. Good job.
sometimes i just come here to here you play even if im not interested in a particular piece of gear, love your riffs keep it up bro.
absolutely loved that octave tone in Stiff aswell! Was thinking in the intro this sounds VERY Bettencourt
Great video! Just got IL the pedal and waiting for it in the mail! 7:34 has a rage vibe
this is by far the best review of this pedal! Thank you
Rabea, great NUNO call out, I had a similar obsession with Nuno solo for "Stop the World" from III Sides. Likely his least flashy solo, and yet there's no loss. Sounds like NYC at night while it's raining. But only if your a detective smoking a cigar.
Rabea, bro! You have a great ear for tone! Always a pleasure to hear you play
Hey Bea, yep, thats a keeper!
I have the impression that the pedal really sounds like you but even better(court)
The way you set It up with the range is like having a distorted amp paired with a crunchy amp, so cool.
Love the sounds!
Cheers
Damn, really great video, those high gain tones are really something else! Keep up the good work!
Sounds perfect
I don’t really hear people use it subtly for extra chunk like you did. That was refreshing. Also nice to hear how it works with all those toska licks.
Great demo Rabea. That's all the convincing I need. Absolute kudos on the weight loss too mate. 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Rabea, you're such a beast! whatever comes into your hands sounds gold!
bloody brilliant review mate (English accent)...
great playing and demonstration of yet another awesome boss product!!
jp
The pedal is superb and I'm sold but what is more impressive is your playing man! Always a pleasure listening to you! So damn musical!
Oh my.. :D That zoom at 16:43 killed me :D Great Video!
this is a great review man, thank you very much for being intensely descriptive. I also discovered Nuno Bettencourt, great all-around.
This is amazing. Killed it Rabea!
Thank you for making this video!
BOSS is a pioneer and understands the guitar player. I never thought anyone would solve that weird untracking sound with chords on the vintage mode. Then poly mode came out, and here we are now with a poly mode and MORE!
So good to hear these lines 🤘
Pedal aside...
We just gonna ignore how hard that filthy riff starting at 16:54 went? 😑😱
Absolutely disgusting.
Yeah dawg that was stanky
I know i listened to it on loop for days now
Listened to it about 10 times myself. Nuno used to do that kind of muted legato run kinda thing. Killer.
It's similar to a riff in midnight express by nuno
Bea thanks for this great review of the OC-5.....Awesome playing. Together with Boss you knocked it out of the park at least 1 mile higher (and then 2 lower). This pedal offers great value for money.
Once again a verry thorough and instructive demo Rabea. And that Drop C sound with the low range is quite impressive (beautifull guitar by the way)🔈🔉🔊
Literally the best review of this pedal! Helped convince me to buy it!
Love the faces 😂 they really helped where words couldn't go further
Great demo! I've added this to my 'really want to try' list; this and that SY-1 pedal. Awesome stuff.
Hope you're well Rabea, thanks for the video.
Bea sold my on the SY-1. I play bass and that pedal is MASSIVE!!! I'm probably going to have to get this, too. Ugh!!!
Great video as always Rabea! Good move by Boss, I will definitely try it out. The POG needed some reasonably priced and pedal board friendly competition. I tried the the TC Sub N Up but didn't really like it.
WOW when you demonstrated the vintage octave with the “math rock” song, it sounded exaaaactly like strawberry girls. so sick
dude.. long time follower from germany here,
love all your vids.
..and it happened again. you sold me another product I didn't know I needed :D
you sold me so much stuff, beginning way back with my first JVM
keep up the amazing work!
I have two questions:
1. is the 'the guitarist' shirt going to be in stock some time again?
2. Could you do some kind of 'behind the scenes' video, where you show the whole process of you doing a vid like this?
Thanks and all the best!
Population 1 is so underrated. More people need to hear them, so glad you're a Nuno fan as well.
I'm waiting for these to come into stock like a pining puppy waiting for its owner to come home...I use octave stuff all the time for looping and have been through so many pedals, looking for exactly what the OC5 does. This demo is absolutely astonishing, one of the best review videos I've ever seen, thankyou!
The Boss OC-3 also did that range control thing, seems like no one really knows about it though. Apart from Jon Gomm. Seems like the OC-5 is an OC-2 and an OC-3 smushed together. I like it.
This would explain why it is not called OC-4! 2+3=5. Brilliant.
@@66numero is there no OC-4?
@@josuastangl7140 no indeed but no RV-4 or FZ-4 either. I think it is more a trend at Boss. But I likes the 2+5 concept.
@@66numero Came here to make that comment. :)
the boss oc-3 range mode is an unspoken hero!
You rock, love your demos man!
Just monster tones.....I mean, there’s dedicated “tone cork sniffer” channels that don’t even come close to what you achieve in your vids. Hope boss are looking after you because they will sell a truck load off the back of this vid, stellar stuff!
This is the review I was looking for! I'm planning on using this on bass but I could tell from other reviews it tracks well on that setting. I was looking for the handling of power chords though and this excels!
Killer sounds man! Nice demo Bea, really enjoyed it. I've never owned an octave pedal but have always kind of liked them when I messed with them. Who knows... maybe one day :-)
Love your videos!! You make guitar look easy!!! Luv you Rabea!
Excellent - and what an album you have on your t-shirt 👍👍👍
Sounds awesome. I always struggle with the organ-type sound from octave pedals. I could get into this!
That straight in to amp tone is unreal!!!!
They were Back ordered for months and I finally ordered one through GC yesterday... And I am completely psyched... 😎✨
Man, that range control is such a brilliant idea, mix that with the rest of the features and this thing is just seems like the perfect octave pedal. And only $130? This thing seems like a steal.
Great playing as usual man, you've sold me on another pedal. But that's nothing new, I literally just bought a Coopersonic Germaniac that I found used at my local Guitar Center because of you, and that thing is a BEAST.
Keep up the great work man!
Fucking masterclass in sculpting and layering yiur tone with an effect. Im sold!
Sounds great as always rabea!
Great pedal OC3 great to hear it has been updated
Bonjour de France!! Great demonstration n playing!!! Good job bro
Awesome thx! Damn. My oc3 is hitting eBay soon. If I may correct you Rabea: the oc3 has the range control. For years It has been my superpower in solo singersongwriter gigs. Awesome to dial in the octave effect for e and a string TIL the 7th fret to fake the bass while fingerpicking. (yep it’s so precise)But what you missed: you can feed the octaved sound out on the one jack and the dry guitar signal without the octave out the direct out in its usual fx chain. So Bass stays dry and tight. no bass mush in delays etc. Great 3D separations.Live I’ve got an extra amp for the octave bass with comp etc. When I Throw it on my guitalele heads turn for the bass player/ For desert rock I ad in a fuzz on the bass chain. Fun. Try it! Would be awesome if it would be selectable if the hi octave goes out via direct or mono jack.
Looking good mate. Haven’t been here for a while.
Great video, and nice playing too!
Excellent review! You sold me. Thanks
Great sound and more user friendly set up and tweaking. Win!!!
Got mine, and it's a really fun pedals. It doesn't track as good as the Micro Pog in Poly Mode on chords and arpeggios, but the OC-5 sounds way fatter overall. I might put them both on my board then! Thanks for the great demo and the Range knob explanations. Cheers!
cool review, great pedal love your tone and style!
Sounds awesome as hell, Rabea. You're a wicked player. Only thing extra I'm looking for is a step on/off button that swells momentarily to octave/harmonic pitch. Cheers
Wow. Fantastic review. Thanks a lot Rabbea. I listened to some before listening yours. I thought that the sounds were quite awful and then you explain clearly all the great sounds we can obtain with it. And what a pleasure to hear the PRS Paul's guitar in your hands. I have the SE version and it sounds great. I'm wondering how this Boss OC-5 reacts with a Baryton.
"I don't know why I'm playing really heavy stuff with a crunch tone"
'cause it sounds really cool.
Best review for me! Thanks R!
15:33 the amount of brown there is on this shot is like the perfect add for the OC5. Which by the way you convinced me to buy
welcome to the boss family bro!
Just gonna pop in and say, that your playing style sounds really interesting on a Stratocaster. I had grown to sort of dislike strats in recent years, but your playing style may have inspired me to start playing on one.
youre so awesome rabea..... been follwing you for ages. Love your vids, really value your opinion! Thanks bud. Keep it up!
btw, any chance of some tabs for "in the face of the nameless"? having a hard time learning it all from your videos. cheers bud
