- Have you ever wondered how difficult it is to complete a national living Dex in Generation 3 Pokemon games like Pokemon Emerald? Well, today I have the answer because we will see how easily can you complete a national living dex in Pokemon Emerald. This video has been in the works for a really long time. So I hope you all enjoy it.

Madlad just casually catches a shiny horsea and makes no fuss about it. That's a lot of dedication. I didn't complete my living dex until gen 4, gen 3 was out of my reach to complete back in 2005 lol
Thanks also the shiny horsea is my first shiny I ever found on FireRed 😅 and this was my first time ever completing a living dex.

I think the reason i always thought getting the national dex done was because i started playing in gen 3 and being a kid it's nearly impossible to do solo.

I just love gen 3-4 man after that I lost the love for pokemon style idk it’s just me probably but I prefer the old style just nostalgic I guess
Honestly I agree gen 3 and 4 just felt different especially the Pokémon sprites. When I was recording this video I couldn’t help but admire how well the Pokémon sprites looked.

I attempted this during the summer of covid lockdown in 2020, the only two Pokémon I wasn’t able to obtain were Espeon and Umbreon
@pantsmonsterv6 I didn’t and still don’t have a GameCube or Colosseum, I attempted this challenge on physical copies so emulating is out of the question too
If you have ruby,sapphire, or emerald you can evolve eevee into either espeon or umbreon depending on the in game clock

@@TheDanishGuyReviews time based events don’t occur on a dead battery, that includes day/night cycle evolutions. Unless I’m doing something wrong then idk but my maxed friendship eevee have yet to evolve
I adamantly believe even today that having a complete gen 3 living dex in gen 3 itself is the hardest of the normal pokedex challenges. Good work and take my sub! 😊

@@infktiousvenom1061 Unless you use the pomeg berry glitch and glitzer popping most people don't have access to the resources needed to complete it legit. You are correct but I do understand.

Dang dude, been out here hustling then this popped up. I remember the days of playing smash bros and all that with you and Aidan.
I completed the Gen 3 Living Dex with just FR/LG and R-S-E carts. Got the one johto starter legit post game, then glitzerpopped-or pomeg berry glitched-the other two starters. That’s also how I obtained mew, ho-oh/lugia & jirachi+deoxis. BIG bonus was finding a shiny Mewtwo in Fire Red while soft resetting to try and catch it in the one Luxury ball I had lol it broke out, so I just chucked my master ball for the catch.
For battle frontier: snagged a perfect IV Latios using the R/S glitch that lets you catch battle tower Pokémon, and have bred two near-flawless mons (metagross/houndoom) to take on the harder, haxy trainers
File currently sits next to the Mirage Island guy, which I boot up to check everyday. Still no luck, but that island will be the final resting point for my save :)

I tried to follow the cannon names but I could be wrong since I think ruby is the official name of the trainer in the manga ?

Nice video, I am currently working on this myself on GBA. Going to do a living dex on FR though since its my favorite game, I can't wait to do 200+ trades between my gameboys :D
Good luck the trades took me a while to do since I did caught my Pokémon throughout every game instead of emerald😂.

Hey. I got back into Pokemon a few years ago. First thing I did was get an SP. I never got to get one as a kid. I then got the 5 GBA games. And 7 GBC Games. I bought all the strategy guides. I have hundreds of hours across all the games. I made one of my goals was to catch every Pokemon. I got as far as 384. I don't have a Mew or Deoxys. I do have celebi and a jirachi as well as HoOh and Lugia. In my leaf green save file where I have the national Dex complete. It's where I have 300 hours. Across 500 trades. Now that I'm done. I'm replaying it. On fire red. Now. Then again I'll do it on emerald. Pokemon is one of those games where restarting isn't essentially over.

I hope to one day soon get a Living Dex in my childhood Firered. Since I can do without Jirachi, Mew, and Deoxys to get the Diploma, all l'm currently missing is a link cable and Emerald, and l'm good. The 3 Roaming Legendaries in FR/LG will be a pain, though. Until l find the final material, l'm working on as complete a Living Dex as l can get in R/S, which is very fun in itself. I already have a Living Regional Dex in Firered, and the Diploma is printed and framed on my bedroom wall.
You can always use Pomeg Glitch to obtain Mew and Deoxys, so only Celebi and Jirachi are off the chart without the Gamecube Games

I love gen 3. I did so many playthroughs of RSE/FRLG and Colosseum/XD I may have multiple living dexes. I keep ‘em all on Pokémon Box!

Although not when it first came out I’ve had my copy of my box for almost 10 years, it makes moving whole boxes of Pokemon so much less of a headache.
oh my god that random shiny horsea... xD I never had a shiny in Gen 3 except a groudon on my emulator, after resetting quite a few times with x10 speed and save states. And boy, did i play a lot of gen3.

Has always been my favourite game and generation, I still remember back then when i was a kid i would borrow other versions from friends who no longer play them and transferring the exclusives just so i can complete the pokedex, little did I know anything about event pokemon at all, i was only able to reach 380/386.
Recently youtube algorithm for some reason decided to introduce me into the world of rng and ACE execution(it’s such a rabbit hole that i would not recommend anyone to it), I’m able to finally make it to 384/386. Left jirachi and celebi, now I’m thinking if I will ever get a game cube and the japanese bonus disc eventually to complete this childhood dream haha

Thanks and to answer your questions I just homebrewed my Wii and made it region free and I was able to obtain Mew and deoxys through a used copy of Pokémon emerald I bought from my local retro game store that had the event items on it. I’m happy that I have inspired you to do the same 😊

FYI, if you're planning to trade these up to Pokemon Bank and eventually Home, it turns out that Deoxys on Birth Island through JP Emerald is, unfortunately, illegitimate because the Aurora Ticket was never available for Japanese Emerald. It's only legitimate in FRLG (all regions) and international Emerald.
Other than that, very well done! This is probably the hardest one to start with since you basically need five (maybe less) games to complete the Living Pokedex in Gen 3.

@@KingZoroark Oh no, what I meant was Deoxys was released in Japan as an event for FireRed/LeafGreen, just not in Emerald. It's the international copies that were able to obtain Deoxys in all three games through an event.
Holy hell!! It would be near impossible for the average player nowadays to do this without cheats. The event tickets alone.....

@@KingZoroark That you've beaten the 100 challenge of Mt. Battle on Colosseum or XD.
It was half a joke. It takes a long time to beat all those 100 trainers, but your Pokémon do get a unique ribbon. A few must already have it because you've unlocked the Johto starters this way in XD.
This was a good way to do this. (I personally am doing an OT living form dex so can’t use canon names)

With the last three event pokemon, did you own the copies of Japanese emerald or did you have assistance with those as I know the celibi event is the most difficult one to obtain.
Yes I own almost every 3rd gen 3 game in Japanese except for fire red,leaf green and xd gale of darkness.

For new and deoxys I bought a used Japanese copy of Pokémon Emerald that had the event items on them from a local game store.

I didn’t use an emulator to record this. I have a modified gba with an hdmi out port that allows me to record the gameplay.

Great question, In order to obtain HO-OH from MT Battle, all the shadow Pokemon have to be purified, and I may also be working on some ribbon master Pokemon for a future video.
