    As you said in a previous video, a lot of elite top skates are reviewed here but not enough of the lower price range categories. I am glad to see a video of the Bauer Shadow but from the previous video on the CCM XF Pro I was expecting more videos on the other new models or the Tacks line with a video on the XF (that you said being enough for some players) or even the XF 90. So please, can you make studio videos and detailed presentations of the features from these skates ? 😁 A video on the Bauer Matrix would be appreciated too to understand what features are behind this hybrid pair of skates ! 🤩 And continue mate, like your videos ! 👍🏻

      I never said we would stop doing elite first. We need to (bread and butter content). Those videos are coming but you'll see the difference in views and comments vs a video like this. Once all the new elite level skates are done. I will do a series on the lower price point skates. One more new elite skate to be uploaded... Then we can start on True, CCM and lower price point skates. Matrix is the only Bauer one we have, so we won't be looking at the other models below the Shadow. The other 2 brands, we will !

    The rivet bulge has ruined the last generation of skates for me. I went to my closest shop last week and tried on the XF Pros and felt no discomfort despite them only having the Regular fit (I need Wide). They offered to order some Wide fits for me to try on, and I decided to try the Shadows on first because the rivet bulge was supposedly corrected. It's definitely better, but the bulge is still there, just in a different spot. Waiting on my Wide XFs to come in, Bauers just don't fit me anymore. Two sets of Bauer Bladetech runners to replace now :(

    I really wanna hear some feedback on the new toe cap. The new design eliminates a set of eyelets thus forcing the start of the laces back up on the instep further. In theory that reduces ability to tie them for preference at the lower part of the foot. So if you have a weird foot or two different size feet like most, that could be a poor fit in that area of the boot.

    • @MonkStraps
      @MonkStraps Před 27 dny

      I just got fit into Shadows and I'm in the both 'weird foot' and 'two sizes' categories. Born with a clubbed right foot and it's 2+ sizes different. Haven't felt any worry about not having enough eyelets down low, even with the smaller foot. I think if you're fit into the skate properly, you should be fine. Though, I'll see as I really test these over the next few weeks.

    I like the Mach skates a bit more. Another thing i wish Bauer would do is put a more durrable material between the toe box and the quarter package. I wish they would use vulcanized rubber. That is one of the first areas to get trashed on skates and honestly whatever material bauer is using in that zone looks cheap.

    Help me understand this. Generally the more stiff a skate the higher end it is. That’s been the philosophy for a long time now. Lighter and ridged=higher end skates. It makes sense the way it’s explained. Energy out from the foot should be close to the same energy out through the blade and onto the ice that way there is as little energy lost through dampening of less ridged materials. Energy in=energy out. So about this blade you market, in the toe it has give and dampens both the step onto the ice as well as the push off as the skate leaves the ice, would this dampening effect create a loss of energy? Wouldn’t the blade take away from all the high end qualities the skate is designed with? Reminds me of the marsblade. Seems like a flexible blade would have the same effect of a cheap flexible boot material

    Is there a reson for not mentioning the forward pitch when doing the videos on skates? As I understand it, True skates are pitched more forward than other manufacturers skatelines, but there could even be a difference in pitch between lines from an individual manufacturer. Though Tia might be a matter of the design of the holder, I still think it is an important area that should not be overlooked. Especially when talking about comfort in skating position and responsiveness on the ice.

  • @antoniozamboni7979
    @antoniozamboni7979 Před měsícem

    all these are super excellent materials, but there are shortcomings because they did not solve the problem with the connection of the cap and the shoe. Let's take a look at the knife holder, which is lighter and looks great, but the downside is that the plastic in the middle breaks after a while. I don't understand why they changed the design of the knife, i.e. its grooves so that the old knives don't fit on the new skate!

    Two questions for y'all:
    1) has anyone tried those blades they're advertising half way through and can you notice any "pop" from the toe blade as claimed?
    2) Has anyone tried switching out the tongue for a softer kinda more old school white felt one? I despised the carbon tongue on the machs the last two seasons, could never get used to them; love em one day, felt weird the next if I didnt tie em the exact same...I ended up re tieing them on the bench between every shift...
    Thanks in advance!

    I don’t understand why every reviewer is calling the Shadow Tongue new. My pair of Machs also has the PowerCoil Tongue, it looks exactly the same as the Shadow Tongue, and in all of Bauer’s literature they don’t say it’s a new tongue. From my understanding, the Tongue, boot construction, liner, and tendon guard are all the same. Can you clarify?

    I tried the shadows… went with Machs for half the price…. I think one thing about the reflex tongue is that if you are a tucker I don’t think it feels quite right almost too stiff cause it can’t move. Feels a lot better if you flop and the can feel that flex in the stride.

      @@HockeyTutorialOfficial no doubt the shadow skates do feel even better molded then machs. Not sure I am sold on power fly holder… almost too stiff for me…. And well does any of this make me a better skater ? At this point probably not….. my fear for these skates is people buy them cause they are top end but they are really quite stiff. Matrix seem like a nice compromise.

    • @Pokemonmaster150b
      @Pokemonmaster150b Před měsícem +2

      @jasonmitchell6105 People need to understand that the top end skates like the Shadow, Hyperlite 2, FT6 Pro, XF Pro are meant for those who are top-level hockey players. They're gonna be stiffer, which makes them tougher to use for newer players, but also allows pros to make powerful and precise movements.

    • @matthewm8021
      @matthewm8021 Před měsícem +2

      @@Pokemonmaster150b I’ve said the same thing to a number of people. I have the Machs, but I’m 38 years old and have been skating since I was 5. I’ve played with guys in beer league who clearly are newer skaters who are using hyperlites or Machs or the comparable CCMs. The skate is far too technical for them and they would probably be better off with a softer more forgiving skate.

    Lets be honest. Every skater is different every foot is different. Every persons stride is different. Thats why you have to try them on. I live in Michigan which is hockey mecca between here and Minnesota. We have so many different stores to purchase skates but i see so many people just purchase skates online without trying anything on. Feeling the toecap feeling the comfort lacing them up and walking around. I love these skates but the majority of people would not need these skates they would be fine with the M 30 or M 40 step downs etc. they would probably not even know the difference. Someone above made a comment about only elite players recognizing a difference in performance of the shadows vs machs vs any of ccms line or true etc. and that is true I've been with hockey for over 20 years at varying levels from varsity level to junior and amateur and above. Hockey tech has come a long way since the 90s but one thing that will never change is that you can purchase the most expensive gear you want it wont change how you play if you aren't at that level already. The tech just makes it easier to accomplish and more comfortable to do it. Btw if you are an adult beginner i would suggest getting a mid tier skate and a 13' profile. Youll definitely thank me.

      They’re different skates meant for different skaters. I bought a pair of vapor 3x about 2;years ago after skating in grafs for a couple decades. Recently went to the Bauer Machs. While the vapors fit my foot fine, the Mach is better for my skating style. I started the rip the tendon guard at the base on the vapor where the Machs have a flexible tendon guard. Basically, I was extending out to far in my strides for the vapors.

    Yet another pair of expensive skates from Bauer which are essentially the same as the old but with hyped features and a new colour scheme. Plus they have almost zero mouldability, so if you have Bauer shaped feet, they’re great, otherwise nope. If anyone thinks these so called features are important, ask yourself why so many top level players stick with their old skates. In my opinion what matters most is comfort and fit. When I went from Bauer Custom to True TF9, my skating improved dramatically. I could suddenly do drills I had been practicing for years, and failed to master. Perhaps the Trues are superior. but I suspect it’s because the TF9 are much more comfortable and a much better fit. The Bauers hurt my toes as they were too narrow, and there was no support round the ankles. Choose skates that fit you, whatever the brand, ignore the hype.
