Yes! SREs are Software Engineers who excel at system knowledge and solve problems related to it with a SWE mindset. I don't know depends on the company maybe. I have shared my experience here about those companies at which I interviewed. But expect basic level of programming rounds for this role.
From an university graduates expectations are not really high. Though you are expected to dissect basic bugs in the system. You are expected to well versed with linux systems. And you will learn with such oncall rotations. Don't worry.

That is true. For SWE-SRE there will be few rounds of coding + systems. For SE-SRE it would be focused on systems more.
