I dont have a ferret but iv watched alot of videos and have some knowledge ^^, the most important thing to do is to just ferret proof the area your ferrets are going to free roam in so make sure there is not high places that your ferrets can get to easily and tiny little object they could chew or swallow because that can cause alot of problems.

I have 8 budgies 2 of wich are days old. I have 3 cockateils. 2 horses. 4 dogs. 4 cats. I did have a hamster and a sun conure but we couldn't keep them. Now I'm saving my money for a ferret. Another cage to clean. I have spent almost $1000 on cage upgrades since I started to get birds and have 5 giant cages. I have another room that I'm going to put my ferret in.

Hi I have a ferret and I am getting a second one soon, you have helped me learn so much more. Prior of me even getting my ferret I did months of research and I thought I knew a lot, I have had him for over a year and he is almost 3 and I am just now starting to better his health. I am starting him on raw diet and letting him free roam I just use a play pen to block off areas I don’t want him in so like around my bed and all! My only question is, is it easy to get them used to using the puppy pads, he is litter trained so I’m wondering if when he gets used to using a puppy pad he may stop using the litter box💜

LIBBY LEMON there’s multiple ways, but, here’s the way I did it. I put a litter box in the place they like to go it’s kind of a trial and error to figure that out. (You can put pee pads in the corners). In the mornings, they go to the bathroom, so when they wake up put them in their litter box. If they leave put them back in. They might scurry around trying to find a place bit just keep putting them back. They will eventually not be able to hold it and just do their business. Reward them once they *Come Out* of the litter box. You can use praises and pets to do this or treats. Hope this helped!

Do you have to feed meat to the ferrets or can they just eat regular ferret food?
Payton Perry feeding them meat is better a lot of the time the ferret food has stuff they can’t even digest. You can feed them kibbles like epigen 90 but I suggest giving them raw food. Ferret proofing:
- Put pee pads in the corners of the room/house they like to do their business in (trial and error again).
-before letting your ferret(s) out, go around the area the will be playing in and checking for little holes they can get into and blocking them.
-if there is any tall furniture make sure there is no way for them to get up. They can get up fine, but can’t always get back down and a lot of the time their lack of fear leads them to jump off. The can be very fragile little creatures and can even break a bone from a high enough drop.
-make sure all closet are closed tightly and you might even have to put something infront of it.
- make sure not to leave any food lying around.
- not sure why but ferrets LOVE stealing remote controls so be aware of that
Bathing, nail trimming and ear cleaning: I know pazuandfriends did make a vid on this please don’t come after me. :)
Bathing: Ferrets do not needs baths. They have the same thing cats have on their tongues and they can clean themselves. I they get something sticky, or dirt you can rinse them with water (no soap). At most, 2 times a year is fine. Instead of bathing your ferret you can let them dig around in rice. It gets rid of the oils and keeps your carpet sharks smelling decent. If you give your ferrets to many baths, it will cause its body to produce more oils in replacement of the ones you’re trying to get rid of and cause them to smell worse.
Nail clipping: first off, to clip your ferrets nails use small cat/ferret nail clippers. And you see the red part off your ferrets nails? That’s called the quick. DO NOT cut that part it while cause your ferret to bleed. Cut horizontally underneath the quick. If there a a couple nails that are short, just don’t cut them. Unless needed.
Ear cleaning: clean the OUTSIDE of your ferrets ears with a damp cloth (no soap). Then check for ear mites. If you find some bring them to the vet.
Here are some good toys you can giver your ferrets:
- plastics water bottles. They like the caps but you might want to supervise and make sure they don’t eat them and choke or something.
-Mylar balls
-blankets. I know it doesn’t sound like a toy but they like to play with them
- jingle balls
- you can get a pool or playpen and fill it with colourful balls a lot of ferrets love this
- they love to play in those tubes. Can’t remember what they’re called lol.
- fishing rod things with the feather on the end for cats (forget what these are called too)
- they like studies just make sure there are no buttons, or those hard eyes, that can come out.
You can make diy things to just be sure it’s not rubber or so small it can swallow it

Bryn Katharine sadly no, but he gets more then 4 hours of play time n is only in his cage if i’m not home, which is like 4 hours max. he loves to play w my cat n gets his energy out like that, we are always doing stuff but he just can never sleep through the whole night, even if he’s super tired at the end of the day n puts himself to bed, he will always wake up around 3-6, it’s a pain not getting enough sleep, other then that he’s really good, he doesn’t like other ferrets, which is why i couldn’t get another one for him, he was always separated even when i went to go get him he was in a separate cage, he’s a alone woof lol, he loves me n has a huge bond w me n my cat, for some reason he only likes my cat, no other animals, but i don’t really mind, he’s really good just doesn’t sleep through the night lol, it’s probably cuz he’s so young n has so much energy
ashley dishman you might want to get another ferret to keep him company. They can get bored or be super loud trying to find something to do. You don’t have to but it’s beneficial.

hi so i have a daughter that's about to have a pet ferret and she has school so is it bad that she feeds the ferret meat early in the morning then leaves him with food pellets then as soon as she gets home she will feed him the instant she gets home then another bowl of meat before bed ????
Roberta Perez I would suggest not giving kibble if that’s what you mean by food pellets. And you only don’t NEED to feed them 3 times a day normally 2 meals is fine. And yes, when she wakes up she can wake her ferret up and get a little bit of play in if she can. If not just have her feed them and then go to school. When she gets back she should play with them for a couple hours. I know there is homework she most likely needs to do so try to do that after playing with her ferret if possible. Then after homework feed them. Pazuandfriends has a playlist on how to feed raw which is better than kibble. Because it can help with the ferrets coat, smell and just overall happiness. How much do ferrets generally cost?
They mostly cost £10-£200 in the uk but I think it’s different in the us, you also have to think about the price of vet treatments (vaccines for rabies etc) and also cages and toys so it would end up being a bit more

Mine doesnt like his ferret food and I've heard ferret food isnt the best for them and he keeps stealing the dog food so I want to get him on a diet he will like and eat. For some strange reasons I have weird things that I am satisfied too. For instance people eating bc it makes me wonder on how the food tastes. People cleaning like in this video and I ended up cleaning my room and my bearded dragons cage at a quarter to 5 am when he was still sleep bc his dirty cage was bothering me so bad. Yea making your bed with a ferrite is no easy task let me tell you.your cage is amazing.i couldnt afford it or daily raw meat.mine still cant be trusted to keep cage open all night its like watching a 3 year old trying to swallow legos.i just hope when he hits a year he will use his liter box instead of trying to pull it off the cage and its hooked in and moves it and goes right where the liter box was then he will put the litter box back over his mess.i caught him doing it and just gave me this look like oh shit im in trouble

Oopsie Poopsie ferrets are good climbers but if it is on top of something high like a dresser they probably won’t be able to get up to it. but yes, no matter where the fish are, you should definitely keep an eye on them while they roam:) good luck! i don’t have ferrets yet but i’ve been doing research for months haha

It depends on where you live if you need a license or not. For example, in New Jersey you do. If you get one from petco I’m pretty sure they give you a license

shrek ass I order bulk raw off Hare Today .com :-) I usually order chicken necks, hearts, kidney on there. Random stuff like rabbit and mice too. At the grocery store I get my ground meats, liver and pork / beef bone in meat. I will make a video dedicated to it soon!!

Halima Talib that question is subjective. In my personal opinion, kibble fed ferrets smell awful. Like dried piss and smelly armpits. RAW fed ferrets smell good. Like an old musky house. It’s comforting, their tails also smell like grape soda (only if raw fed)

I feed mine kibble and he has a mild musky smell. When I first got him I didn't think I'd get use to the smell but I just don't notice it really anymore unless I put my nose right at the back if his neck when kissing him. Also I stopped giving him a bath cause it only makes them stink more by producing more oil. He only gets a bath if he gets into something nasty outside.

1. Most ferrets are frightened by the vacuum cleaner and others simply want to attack it.
2. They don’t always have a very large variety and some aren’t good for ferrets. I would recommend buying from the pet store or from mypetcarnivore.com.
