    Love them mag pul drums. They truly did their home work when designing that drum. It’s not even that bulky or cumbersome in the rifle.60 rds was a good choice. I really should pick up another c-bata mags are great to but they are just to big and unless your defending a compound or forward position at a suppression point they are to big. But the mag pul is a great drum to toss in a battle load out maybe two.

      Yes the size and reliability make it very difficult for me to think of anything else in that particular weight class.

    @Bugout Bushido... Well I disassembled the drum.Looked it over, and started masking it off disassembled. Realized it isn't worth the hassle and amount of tape and time it's going to take for what I want. I decided you are 100% right. LOL, it is better and easier to paint it assembled. So I reassembled it, sprayed it OD Green. I am waiting for it to dry now. One down , two to go.
    Now it's started to rain, wouldn't you know it... FWIW/BTW, I have found Majic brand Olive Drab Green Camoflage paint in the 12oz spray cans comes closest to the real Army ODG color of all the paint I have found thus far . It's available at Tractor Supply stores and Rural King stores. The Rural King closest to me was too far a trip IMO, so hit up my local T/S stores . Had to go to both. Seems it's a popular color and stays almost out of stock a lot. LOL. Rustoluem , Dupli Color, Krylon doesn't sell a "dedicated" Olive Drab Green.

      1944 militaria has some epic spray paint but I only use it as a top coat as it is a little too shiny for my taste. One thin coat is perfect on top of a good drab paint. Real good for camo schemes

      @@bizzlesnach FWIW...The Majic brand of Olive Drab Green is a very flat/matte finish of Oil Base Flat paint. The color is very acceptable, and at $6.49 per can, it's very affordable too. So are their (flat) Black and Desert Sand colors. Although their Desert Sand color is a far cry from Magpul's Flat Dark Earth color, it will "blend" somewhat. And is a shade or two darker than Rustoleum's Khaki color.
      FWIW, I have used at least 8 or 9 cans of this Majic brand camo paint and have *not* had a single can to get a clogged spray nozzle, nor quit spraying paint. Every can has continued to spray until there's no paint left in the can. But I've had 2 Rustoleum camo paint cans clog and quit spraying at 1/2 can, due to either clogged nozzle or no pressure left in the can. And the Rustoleum costs more LOL. I priced Dupli Color camo paint at an O'Reilly's Auto Parts at $9.00 and change, whew! You can even get the Majic brand camo paint in one gallon paint cans.(for those big jobs) LOL. Looks like I'll be staying with Majic Camo Paint.

    @Bugout Bushido. Did you disassemble the D-60 drum magazine to paint it? Or did you paint it as is/fully assembled? I want to paint mine ODG and another flat black. I'm thinking it might be best to disassemble them and mask them off well. Or is that totally unnecessary? What say ye?

    • @bizzlesnach
      @bizzlesnach  Před 2 lety

      If you are a good masker you can just tape it off. That is what I did and it worked fine. I made sure not to gum up that loading gate

      @@bizzlesnach Seems like it'd be easy for the spray paint to run into/inside the drum right there where the lever and it's "slot" is. I'm wondering id disassembling it and masking off the edge and inside of drum, might be better. I'll have to look it over more closely . I'll look at the disassembly instructions first though.

    Unfortunately in the people's republic of New Yorkastan that's 7 years in state prison.... would you take a 60 round drum over stacked 30's?

    • @bizzlesnach
      @bizzlesnach  Před 2 lety +1

      For space- yes.
      However, having a D60 to augment your regular loadout is the way to go. I don't think of these as an 'instead of' thing more than an 'in addition to' thing.
      As for real estate on a load bearing system, the 30's will win every time. A drum is bulky and there is never a perfect answer for carrying them on your person over the convenience of the 30 rounders. Price wise, the drum loses again. A drum like this is a luxury, more like a sports car to make a comparison. But like a sports car, while being somewhat impractical they are VERY good at what they are good at and sexy also.
