Hi Lindy. I’ve met you once in passing at Susan’s camp at Van Aid Center Camp. I want viewers to know that you are as you appear on camera. You are a true educator everywhere you go. Your viewpoint is exceptional. Thank you for sharing another down to earth fact-based teachable moment.
I remember you Jacqueline. Thanks for commenting.
Things are changing. Obey. But obey the boundaries that are established. They are generous to allow travelers to park there over night. The restrictions are growing. There are mow 12 states that no longer allow overnight stays in their state operated rest areas. There are time limits of 3-4 hours. Then you must move on. Anywhere you park do not give the appearance that your camping. Don't set outside in camping chairs. Don't put slides out. Don't make any mess or leave any trash. Be a respectful guest and obey the boundaries where ever you park.
That was very nice of that young man.
I think there are those few that wreck it for others because they litter and don't clean up
I hope you found the courage to return to your beautiful campsite and that no one bothered the stuff you left behind to hold it. ❤
Hi Lindy. As a tax paying homeowner in a city getting overwhelmed by different elements, I know my opinion doesn't hold much value to some nomads, but that doesn't matter to me. I think it's a good compromise to allow overnight sleeping to those who have working vehicles with the expectation they be gone in the morning. Heading to a park, library, etc., sounds doable. Thanks for this informative video. Love to you and Miss Marley ❤😊. Still too hot for you to head home.
I used the Home Depot to overnight at when I was in Flagstaff, other vans would come in at night and then leave in the a.m. I would also go park by the library during the day and go in and use the internet.
Hi Lindy, thanks for the heads up at Cracker Barrel. I’ve been thinking about you on the road. Stay safe.
Thanks for sharing this. I know cities are reacting with fear because they don't want to be overrun with homeless people camping on sidewalks, etc. In Oregon and northern California some (not all) rest areas have signs stating "Safety Rest Area" and people stay at those without harassment. I think that's a reasonable and compassionate response.
Lindy as usual you handled the information with grace. I hope that you and Marley have a wonderful day in Flagstaff, it is a beautiful place, stay safe. ❤
The city I dwell in doesn't allow any kind of living activities in your vehicle, not even your own private driveway.
Stealth is the word.
You shouldn't be camping anywhere other than a campground.
~ 🦋
Travel safe, Lindy❤ I love Cracker Barrel!
I love Cracker Barrel! ❤️
People can overnight there, just not camp which includes putting out a slide out, setting out lawn chairs, grilling out and certainly don't litter.
So your story popped up on my YT feed... I was attracted to it because it said Cracker Barrel... It reminded me of my trip to Quartzsite last November... It had been a windy day and I was exhausted fighting with the wind and felt I was getting horrible gas mileage... I just wanted to stop... I had been through Flagstaff before and was already mad at Walmart because I felt they were not friendly to travelers... So when I saw the Cracker Barrel sign I saw it as a opportunity to rest, wait for the wind to die down and get something to eat... Not knowing that this was a location with overnight drama... 👀 So I did, I got something to eat and layed down to rest and about 10:00pm I awoke to being surrounded by RVs the place was packed... A guy and his wife had pulled in with a 20' trailer and there was no place for him (or even to move)... I had never seen this before at any Cracker Barrel... 👀 I told the guy I was was leaving if he wanted my space but I had no idea how he was going to get in it... He asked me to help him maneuver and I rudely said I didn't even know if I was going to be able to get out as it was packed... Later down the road I read all the Google map reviews talking about because Flagstaff has cracked down on overnights this Cracker Barrel was taking the hit...
Funny I didn't know your video was about "this" Cracker Barrel... 👀
Hello Lindy. Thank you for sharing and updating us on the policy for overnight parking at Cracker Barrel in Flagstaff. Have a pleasant day.
I love Cracker Barrel! If we stay overnight we always have a meal and I love to shop in the store as well. I love the clothes and treats. I have found some to be much better than others. There’s a fabulous one in Lafayette Louisiana. I relax so much more knowing I can count on an over night there if we can’t find something else.
I was at Cracker barrel yesterday in flagstaff to pick up food and saw the no camping sign and was surprised. You should come camping near me.
God bless you. Stay safe.🎉🎉
Hi Lindy it is good to hear from you ❤❤❤
When boondocking I always leave when the sun comes up...never got a knock and never had problems. 9am is pushing it...might as well be living there lol.
This is a growing problem for everyone - but "nomads" need to plot put their options, and perhaps they need more of them- more sites they can safely go to. Parking lots can quickly become trashy and dangerous "campsites" , hurting the business, the community, putting those who park there in danger.
It only takes a few people to ruin it for the rest of us, including some YT channels. I reprimanded one YT'r , who spent several days at a Cracker Barrel. Had to educate them that they were ruining it for the rest of us and were being selfish. I let them know it was a privildge to be allowed to stay there, but not a right.
Thanks for passing on your wisdom as usual. Precious Lindy 🤗🤗
Our Crackle Barrel is always so crowded, not even a parking space by 11:00 @m. They have the best meatloaf dinner.
I need to get their recipe. My meatloaf ain't that great anymore!
@@karenholley8356 mine either
That's nice of the manager explaining that rule there. Where I live our Cracker Barrel does not allow overnight parking or camping! And besides the parking lot is really kinda small having only 4 RV Autos w/trailer spots and says " No Overnight Parking" It's a very tight lot to even drive through!!
Good to know. Thank you, Lindy. Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you for taking the time to educate and inform🦋
This is the case in lots of places. Not the business, but the city. Sometimes it’s because the city doesn’t want homeless and often it’s for-profit campgrounds and KOA that pressure or bribe the city so everyone has to use their facilities.
Yes. That’s the way it is in Florida. As being a primary tourist destination, the hotel and motel businesses do want the money to come to them. Unfortunately, the price of lodging especially in Florida is way too high for me to pay. I currently live on the Space Coast of Florida and everything is very expensive here. The problem I have is being able to save enough money to actually begin my travels. I’ve driven to Illinois for a short vacation, but that was two years ago. No travel since then due to being only on Social Security and unable to work. I’m biding my time until I can afford to travel.
❤️😊Bree & Blue🦮❤️
Good information to know. Stay safe 😊
I just saw a video where the Supreme Court made homeless camping illegal I wonder if that's why. Places are banning camping in some places. It's absolutely ridiculous. Rents are outrageous. Thank God cracker barrel was kind and took the time to kindly explain.. Theres thousands losing homes due to wildfires or floods or high rents . What are people going to do. I thank God cracker barrel was so ,ind.
VOTE BLUE. going to be millions more homeless. they have to have somewhere to go
@@angie-xy5sf- Are you being sarcastic? Democrats have caused our country’s decline with open borders, inflation, high gas prices, triple food prices, etc.👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Hi Lindy. Thank you for sharing. Safe travels for you and Marty. ❤🙏🏼
Thank you for that information never herd that before❤
Yes, Lindy, that was so very informative and helpful! Thanks!
Yes! There's a difference between spending the night and camping. Hoping cities will see it that way when applying Supreme Court ruling. People need to sleep somewhere. But people setting up tents and building structures in parks, on sidewalks, in parking lots, etc. is not fair or good for anyone.
Thank you for sharing.
Great information. It’s good to know the ins and outs of staying at Cracker Barrel. I’m a senior 70, and would love to do a Cracker Barrel trip, staying at a Cracker Barrel and then travelling on to the next…lol… I think that would be fun. (Sue in Orangeville, Ontario, Canada). No Cracker Barrels in Canada but I’m close to the US border. Cheers!
Yes, I’ve found that if I’m in town, leave early, do the day, return after 6-7. No chairs or cooking etc outside. Do that stuff at the day parkup. I did not know the difference between no camping vs no overnight parking. Thanks for passing on this clarification. ❤
Thanks!
Thank you for your super thanks support LINDY
Interesting. Be safe and stay hydrated ❤
You are welcome to boondock, dispersed camp in Kaibab with me and my kiddos over here in the Williams area if you are nervous about solo camping. Plenty of room where I camp for you to have your own van space.
Lawn chairs isn't secretly camping/being inside of vehicle, and quietly. Not having lawn chairs or blankets out on.their properties. Like u r at a campsite, at a home parking lot; and not at a restaurant. This makes it waste for us all, who don't do this.. let's think, and don't put blame on the managers. Common sense people..
Escapees put a lot of thought and energy into drafting the Rvers Boondocking Policy decades ago. It's free on their website and everyone living this life should read it. If people would follow it then we would not have so many places closing. Having your meal on the lawn bordered into "camping". You just don't stay in any business or street spot multiple nights and you vacate early without lingering. Residents notice police notice and criminals notice. Just having out-of-state plates makes you stand out even when being stealth.
I think that’s very nice of Cracker Barrel to let people spend the night and I would not want anyone camping. It’s not a campground so I hope they enforce the camping stuff people hanging out of their cars making all kinds of noise scattering their stuff all over the place that was just disrespectful.
awe well let us know how you are doing, I hope you get your camp site back
Yes, definitely this season Flagstaff has heard an ear full from the local's of Flagstaff
and things have changed.
Why? Because folks have abused the hospitality. Same at the Walmart.
There's the Coconino and Kaibab forest for camping.
Thanks Lindy! They have these signs in Albuquerque too
I'm in Abq, what signs are you referring to??

Interesting, great to know. I've only stayed twice, but I did leave after breakfast as you did.
Thank you for sharing !🙏🇺🇸
Thanks for the info! That is news to me!
Stay safe and cool 🥰
It was good of the manager to take the time to clarify/educate Good information. I thought it might be because you had chairs outside to eat ...or were those Cracker Barrell's chairs?🤔
Great video and information
Gosh, where are homeless, car people go. This is stupid no affordable housing I guess no parking. People are so cruel, everywhere.
Let the campers stay in your yard
Good info. God bless!
That’s a shame that some cities implement anti-unhoused laws to this extent. There is a difference between camping (like with a tent, or setting equipment up outside of your rig) and just staying the night while self-contained. Still, to fine people or businesses for staying over in a van or RV is a bit much, I think. You handled it beautifully, of course, and I appreciate you relaying that information. I stayed the night before last at a Cracker Barrel in Alma, AR on my way back to my hometown, and there were several others doing the same & there were no signs or anything. (BTW, I don’t recommend doing this in the south in the summer unless you have a/c. I didn’t sleep well at all as the heat index was still in the high 80s due to the humidity.🤦🏻♀️)
Good Info!
Lindy honey I think your camera's lens needs cleaning. You're awful blurry this morning 😊
Sorry about that
Stay cool. I hope you and Marley drink lots of water.
It's possible they have had issues with trash and noise. Where's Marley, she's so cute 🥰
Good to know.
Lindy they won’t allow it at all here in FloriDUH! So count your blessings!
What a sweet man 🤩, but i think those rules are really stupid 😞
Also, you might want to avoid putting your chairs out on the lawn.
They probably wouldn’t have said anything if you didn’t pull the lawn chairs out
What lawn chairs. Glad you were there and saw everything
@@l.a.v.alindysawesomevanadv3428 You had said you ate your breakfast on the lawn with 2 chairs. Maybe you meant the chairs that were there, but I can see why this person thought you brought them out.
That’s not the case here on the east coast. I’ve never had that happen.
The road going in to Cracker Barrell has been a real mess. They had to clean it up.

I think the cities have run into lots of problems with some of the campers. A camper at a Walmart in Cedar City Utah got into a fight with another camper and made a bomb threat. They had to evacuate the whole store and parking lot and bring in the bomb squad for safety. I have seen trash left in the Walmart parking lots even though Walmart has garbage cans everywhere. If people would just be more respectful I don't think any business would have a problem with campers staying the night in their parking lots. The way they are trashing BLM lands you could see the end of free camping there also. There is lots of drug use these days also and that can bring problems for the police to deal with. I will hate seeing all public lands turn private but I do think that is the future. Not far from where I live a big rich group of people bought a public mountain and surrounding land and built a private ski resort and are building big homes beneath the mountain. You cannot even drive close to the mountain now. Another ski resort bought all the public land around it and big second homes have been built one by the Netflix owner. It is all private now and I heard they are going to put up a big gate to keep anyone out that doesn't have a home there. It used to be public and you could hike around there. The very rich will eventually own everything.
Is there a signage that says people have to leave by 7:00 a.m. in the morning?... If not they can't say anything
