  • Do rooftop tents really suck? Is it worth it to upgrade to a canopy camper like the Go Fast Campers Platform Camper or the Super Pacific? In this episode we're going to talk about our experience with the Roofnest Condor rooftop tent mounted to a mid height roof rack and whether or not we regret not buying a canopy camper in the first place. In the end the right choice boils down to your intended use of the vehicle, but maybe some of our experiences will help guide you toward the right decision if you're debating if either one of these set-ups is right for your truck.

I see you’re going through a bunch of the tires I’ve been looking at! Which have been the best off-road? Least amount of slipping on rock and such

We ended up selling the Maxxis that we had mounted on wheels after we sold the Amigo. I never actually put any miles on those and I'm still curious as to how they perform. The Yokohama X-ATs have been great in the rocks, but they're also a tad heavier than some of the other A/T and hybrid options out there.

Heh, if I had it all to do over again I might go a different route myself. I like to go shooting and so for me a secure bed cover was a must...nothing you can knife your way thru etc. The big letdown of the Retrax is that while it's fairly secure it's anything but water tight. You end up having to keep a dry bag or whatever to put stuff into. Also the canister if you let things slide around in the bed it'll beat the ever-loving shit out of it. My solution to that was a Pelican 35 liter crossbed box with the rail mounted brackets. That said with the mid height rack getting in/out of it is gonna be a bitch.

Yeah I've had similar observations with the Retrax canister. Mine is definitely showing some light scuffing and scratches from cargo boxes. I also dropped a small 1/4" by accident down into the canister. It was a pain to get out. Thanks for watching!

@@TrashPandaGarage haha the first time twigs and leaves went into there I freaked till I realized ohh shit they actually roll off the top and drop down the back not even into the canister. They end up at the back of the bed.
