  • How does FN's full size hammer-fried 45 pistol (FNX-45 Tactical) stack up against HK's classic (USP 45 Tactical)?

Why I carry the FNX 45 Tactical, and why I think NOTHING beats it...
      1. It's built from the ground to be ambidextrous.
      2. It's a DA/SA.
      3. The safety completely disengages the trigger.
      4. You can rack the slide with the safety on, which is a feature I don't believe ANY other gun offers.
      5. If you prefer, you can carry it "clocked & locked," like a classic 1911, BUT... If you don't want to worry with a safety, the DA trigger is heavy enough to prevent an accidental discharge.
      6. It comes with a 5.3 inch threaded barrel.
      7. It comes standard with suppressor height night sights (to take advantage of the threaded barrel), Picatinny rail, RMR cutout AND mounting plates... NONE of which you "have" to take advantage of, but CAN, once your experience & comfort levels increase.
      8. It comes with THREE 15 round magazines... Let me say that again... Not only does it use a 15 round magazine, but it COMES WITH 3 OF THEM.
      9. It comes with 4 interchangeable backstraps (2 each of different sizes, in 2 different patterns.
Yes, it is a BIG gun, but the different size backstraps make it easier for those with "smaller hands" to use.
Add to all those features, the fact that this gun is extremely accurate, and I just don't think anything else comes close.
Oh... I also carry it concealed in the AIWB position, EVERY day, EVERYWHERE, without any problems with either concealment OR comfort.

It should be noted that the reason the FNX 45 slide release seems so small and difficult to acuate is because it's not a slide RELEASE, it's a slide STOP. The lever isn't designed to be pushed down to release the slide, it's meant to be pushed up to lock the slide back, such as for dismantling/field stripping. The FNX 45 doesn't actually have a slide release control of any sort. It's supposed to be released using a push-racking or slingshot technique.

You took it in the face like a man ! No whining ; )
HK USP Tactical is my choice because of the testing done on the USP platform leaves everybody else in the weeds .
    Plus I read an article titled " A chat with a HK armorer " 295,000 + rounds .
That sowed the deal for me ! Picked up a mint condition USP Tactical 45 and later on I got a new USP 40 S&W .
I believe the recoil system in the USP's are better than on the new HK pistols like the HK45 or HK P30 or the VP 9 .
The USP's have an old school look and they're built like a tank !
I really luv the USP's , they're #1 in my book #2 Sig Sauer #3 Glock These are just my choices your mileage may vary .

    FNX-45 Tactical Review (CZcams Version)
I own a FNX-45 Tactical and a HKVP9. I am 5’9” / 5’10” a Healthy 230-240lb Man. My hands are a little over 8 inches in length. And the FNX-45 Tactical feels Great in my hands!
Since I only own these 2 firearms. I can only judge based on these 2. I got them both when I was in the Military (ARMY) around 2018. I was looking, holding, operating many handguns at the PX and I just LOVED how comfortable, solid and strong that HKVP9 felt (HKVP40 too) and I kept going back to it. Then I asked a couple of the older men that worked there: “What would be a good 1st handgun?” The one man said: “I would go with the VP9.” -DAMN! AM I GLAD & THANKFUL I TOOK HIS ADVICE! And I was already IN LOVE with the ergonomics of that firearm and the looks / styling! -I still am! I am owning this / keeping this one for a long time (HKVP9)! And it will last and function perfectly just as long too! Heckler & Koch (HK) is a Legendary company that is underrated! They’re O.G.’s in the Game. Check their backround.
I purchased my 1st firearm (HKVP9) for $585. It is the Flat Dark Earth (FDE) color tone with two (2) 15 round magazines. With the glow in the dark sights.
Then I wanted a .45 caliber firearm....... went back to the PX to look, hold, and shop around for a .45 I liked. INSTANTLY I seen the FNX-45 Tactical just so noticeable compared to the others lined up in the glass display. I seen that Tan color pop out from all the black handguns that were around it (mostly Glocks, HK’s, Sig Sauers, Rugers and all the fancy 1911’s and silver revolvers were in and along the other glass counters on the sides) and I said: “Oooh... damn. I like that one.” And then I read that price tag... $1,200 I was like: “Damn.” Then I kept looking and reading... “Tritium Night Sights... okay cool; it’s a .45... that threaded barrel is nice... I like the color contrast too! It looks cool... -THREE 15 ROUND MAGAZINES! IN A .45! I GOTTA GET THIS GUN!” Because all the other .45’s capped out mostly at 10 rounds due to remaining legal in most states. But NOT Texas baby! We can do almost anything we want here with firearms! Three 15 round magazines... No Problem! So I asked the guy to see and hold that FNX-45 Tactical. TWO ADDITIONAL THINGS THAT INSTANTLY GOT ME WERE: How smooth the trigger was! And how smooth the slide was! Styling & look is cool. I told the guy: “I am coming back and I am buying that one.” I saved a couple paychecks. Went back to that PX and told the guy I want to purchase that FNX-45 Tactical. He reaches for the one in the display. I said: “Do you all have another one in the back? I want a fresh one, not one that people have been touching all the time.” He said: “-Yes sir! We have an all Black Tactical one and the Tan one as well! You wanted the Tan one right?” Then I said: “Yes; Can I see them both please?” The guy says: “Yes sir! I’ll go get those; I’ll be right back...” He goes back and a couple minutes later he comes out with just the one. He said he thought he had the all Black one but maybe someone else came in and bought it. So it was just the last Tan one, fresh and untouched. We open it up and inspect it a few times before I more than likely purchase this firearm. Then I noticed the price tag on this one... it said $1,115. Then I asked the guy: “Why is this one priced at $1,115 and the one on display says $1,200?” I thought maybe there was / were some features that may not be on the $1,115 one compared to the $1,200 one. The guy looks at it for a minute and says: “Naw... their both the same ones... but, whatever the price tag says (I was smiling from ear to ear excited on the inside). Then the guy says: “I’ll throw in the Father’s Day discount for you too sir!” I told him: “Well... I’m not a Father...” he was like: “Ahhh that’s alright! I’ll still throw it in their for you.” I was REAL excited on the inside now! Like a child in Disney World! After paperwork the one guy escorts me out the PX as we talk, with my 2nd... Firearm... the FNX-45 Tactical... what did I pay? ............ $1,035.
Comparing my 2 firearms I own (HKVP9 & FNX-45 Tactical) is like comparing Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. They BOTH excel and rank VERY HIGH in their respective fields (9mm & .45 ACP). I love the size and weight of my FNX-45 Tactical... to be honest, I really Love ALMOST EVERYTHING about my FNX-45 Tactical!
Some BIG THINGS I DO NOT LIKE about my FNX-45 Tactical are: THE POLYMER! It is not as Dense, Strong, Reinforced, Tough, and Durable, Stiff and Sturdy as my HKVP9; which my HKVP9’s polymer is ALL THOSE AND THEN SOME! My FNX-45 Tactical’s polymer frame seems like a toy at times when I look at it and feel it. IT STILL IS A STURDY POLYMER! -BUT... the HKVP9’s (and really all of HK’s polymers because they are the Grandfather of it) polymer is FAR BETTER; WAY BETTER! AND YOU CAN FEEL THE DIFFERENCE; HK’s reinforced polymer is better. -BUT! I felt and held the New FNX 509 Tactical... THAT FIREARM IS COOL! 24+1 IN 9MM! THAT POLYMER IS JUST LIKE THE HKVP9’s POLYMER!
Another thing I kinda don’t like about my FNX-45 Tactical in comparison with my HKVP9 (but you can adjust and get used too) is, in my / the HKVP9 you can effortlessly throw mags in there without “aiming” the mag in there! On the FNX-45 Tactical though... YOU HAVE TO AIM THE MAG PERFECTLY UNDER THE MAG HOLDER / HANDLE. I have practiced and have gotten better at this.
Another BIG THING I DO NOT LIKE about my FNX-45 Tactical is... after firing this weapon / firearm a while... the optic mount plate AND the metal threaded barrel protector cap comes loose from the concussion of the .45 ACP rounds constantly blowing up and rattling this thing! It’s not instantly, but when I fire this weapon / firearm IT DOES THAT! And yes I put muscle into tightening them... but, that .45 ACP shockwave loosens them after shooting and firing this weapon off a while. FN provides the tools for you to tighten them. I only take the FNX-45 Tactical out on special occasions (having fun showing friends and family & shooting it / playing with it with a suppressor and all the other tactical features) and fire it rarely. It looks clean though every-time I bring it out though. It still has that New smell to it still after 2 years because I rarely fire it; last time I fired it from today (8.30.2020) was probably about 11 months ago. I kinda wanna take her out and shoot now. But that is why my HKVP9 is my EDC firearm and my FNX-45 Tactical... I mostly use as Home Defense. And I am getting a NON-TACTICAL .45. It’ll probably be the HK45. I’ve also highly considered the Glock 21 & the FNX-45 (the non-tactical version).

    • @Evin07
      @Evin07 Před 3 lety

That cheap polymer feel of the FNX has a tradeoff in that you can shoot comfortably for much, much longer compared to other .45's. Also, get some loctite and O-ring, nothing will shake loose again. I've got both an HK Mark 23 and FNX-45 Tactical. While the MK 23 is king, the FNX-45 Tactical is the best successor. Period.

The HK requires an aftermarket rail system as well just to be able to use lights or lasers. With that said I’d still take the HK just because of what it is.

To be fair the FNP45 functionally has a +2 baseplate on the magazine so that would account for the capacity.
I would bet if you put a good quality +2 baseplate on your G21 the magazine would be the same size.
Personally I feel the USP45T is not only better than the FNP45T, I would say the H&K is the best polymer framed .45 pistol that exists, period.

DEMCAD I usually don’t either but I had nothing but success with +5 Arrendondo extensions for a G19.
I’ve also replaced all of my USP9 mags with Wolff +10% power springs. One of the factory magazines that came with it stopped locking the slide back after about 1500 rounds were put through it so as a precaution I swapped them all out.
Mind you this was 10 years ago to the week and nearly 30,000 rounds later I’ve never had an issue.

BMW or Mercedes. BMW or Mercedes. They're both great pistols made by highly respected manufacturers whose business is military contracts, not civilian sales. Both companies have made iconic firearms used worldwide, and know how to make a military grade pistol that civilians can buy.
My small hands can't grab around a HK 45 but it can grab the FNX especially when cocked and locked. The FNX has the highest capacity .45 with 15 rounds. I don't need the tactical and not I to playing tacticool with the threaded barrel ro RMR sights. So I bought the standard and ever looked back. With my FN SCAR 17, they are my SHTF load out guns.

When I'm carrying WITH the Streamlight TLR-2 HL G, I use a holster made by T5 Custom Kydex. It's "ok," but I'm not a fan of all it's features. But... It works, & is comfortable enough, so I use it.

Your gun handling is very.poor. When showing the FNX TACTICAL 45 light attachment under the barrel you swept the camera and your viewers. The reason your aim was off with the slightly higher night sights is because the FNX allows for an RMR OPTIC which co witnesses with the sights. As far as a holster, the BLACKHAWK RAPTURE works for FNX TACTICAL 45 even with the optional RMR OPTIC. I'm a FNX GUY. Learn as much as you can aabout a firearm before you review or critique it.
