Only problem with Mate 20 Pro from UK is that they are all SINGLE SIM, have only 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. China variants are DUAL SIM, 8GB RAM & 256GB of storage for not a lot more money. They also have a larger range of colours. See: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173613322697?ul_noapp=true

I turned on gesture control to give it a go. Now one day later I wouldn't go back. Even Google Pixel has moved to gesture control. Muscle memory kicks in pretty quickly. Also the face recognition rocks. It is almost instant and because it is proper 3d it can't be tricked with a photo and it works with and without glasses, with and without a hat, etc. Love it!

I have just a quick comment. The wireless charger/reverse charger works like a 'high loss' transformer with primary and secondary coils depending on which way your power flow is intended. Sufficient to say that If your reverse charger is turned on all the time the battery will be discharged into any conductive surface the phone is held in close proximity to, not to mention the electronic interference it could cause. Hence, reverse charger permanently on - please don't!

Not that there is going to be any benefit gained from this but it would be an experiment that I would be interested to know the outcome of but...
Get 2 of these, enable reverse wireless charging and place them together.
Would they just keep transferring an amount of power back and forth as they charge one another?

Are you accidently swiping the annoying 'HiSearch' feature on your new Huawei Mate 20 Pro?
Well, now you can safely remove it and it's not that hard if you pay attention to the instructions below.
(It may work on other Mate 20s but I've only tested it on my phone.)
    1) Download the ADB zip file to your Windows desktop computer or laptop.
Unzip the contents of the zip file to your desktop. There will be a folder called 'platform-tools'.
Direct link to the ADB zip file is here:
    dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-windows.zip
    2) Connect your phone to the computer and enable USB Debugging on your phone.
(There will be a pop up on your phone asking you to do this.)
Open the 'platform-tools' folder that you just unzipped and open a 'command prompt' from inside that folder.
Put your mouse somewhere in the folder, hold 'shift' and right click your mouse.
    Select 'Open command window here'
    3) Type "adb devices" then enter.
This just proves that you are connected to your phone.
The long ID number of your phone will show up if you are.
    4) Type "adb Shell" then enter.
    5) Type "pm list packages" then enter.
This will show you a long list of packages installed on your phone.
    6) Type "pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.search" then enter.
    7) Did you see the word "Success"?
    8) You did it. Aren't you clever! No more accidental 'HiSearch' swipes on your phone.

Let me change any Apple fans' minds over the XS vs M20 Pro. I come from UAE where the M20 costs 3100 DHS and the XS costs 4200 DHS. That's 1100 dhs (approx 250$ more) for a phone with literally nothing to offer. The M20 really only loses over the processor but still beats the snapdragon 845 used in most other flagship androids and really 250$ MORE for just a better processor (computers have better and cheaper processors), isn't really worth it. Note the XS at this price is a 64GB compared to 128 of the M20, 4GB ram as opposed to 6GB on the M20 & has a dual 12+12MP camera compared to the M20s 40+20+12 (one of which is a wide angle lens, literally the best thing ever). Recently took pictures at a family event which came out better than my cousins' DSLR camera. The night mode on the camera is phenomenal. Both feature IP68 water proofing, OLED display however the M20 has a lot more depth, around 100 pixels in pixel density compared to the XS and a 1440 x 3120 resolution compared to XS' 1125 x 2436 pixels. Not to forget the 128GB model of the XS costs almost 200$ more than the 64GB while the M20 Pro also features expandable storage. The front camera also stomps on the Huawei featuring a 24MP compared to Apples 7MP. XS also comes with a 2658 mAh battery compared to the Mate's 4200 mAh. That's almost a 400$ different in price for a worse phone. Apple fans girls claim they don't like the UI on the Huawei but if all these features doesn't bother you compared to the UI (which you can change through launchers and themes, not that I've had an issue with the UI) you must be out of your mind. Get the Mate 20 Pro. It's the best phone on the market, you won't regret it. BTW, my sister is an apple fan girl and got the XS along with me and regrets continuing with Apple after seeing and using my phone.

It is not all about the money or the looks. A major consideration is safety of your data. There is a multitude of articles out highlighting security issues and then consider all the permissions the Mate 20 Pro is asking from you. I am not comfortable with the phone's behaviour. They try to lull us with gimmicks whilst getting all our information - our fingerprints, our facial characteristics, our passwords. They know where we have been and what we have done, the cameras and microphones switch on automatically and our privacy is invaded all in the name of profit or security (which funnily enough secret services never manage to get right.)

Well I must agree . I am not in the phone business that much you know... I only use blackberry as daily and Samsung flagships occasionally. I never thought I care about all the smart features that smartphones nowadays have . But when I saw the mate 20 video I thought this was just over exaggerated but my friend got one and I liked it. This is the only phone I bought because I liked it but I use it less as I don't think it's that secure compared to the blackberry, even the s9 and note 9 is more secure so , I like the phone but can't use as daily. And yes , the price comparison is really dramatic. I also am from the UAE and I have all the iphones since I phone first came out but I never bought any. All the iphones I have till this date were gifted to me.....hell I have an xs max in my drawer which is still sealed. Anyways , for security purposes, the mate 20 seemed useless to me but other than that, it is a good phone. Ps. The battery will never disappoint.

@@khalidmohammed4403 it is a good looking phone but totally untrustworthy. When people talk about the specs and boast about it having so many cameras, I laugh. It reminds me of a woman boasting her man has so many inches but she cannot get satisfaction or children from him. Useless, yes? The Mate 20 Pro photography is awful compared to Samsung S7 and even Sony ZX3. It might not matter much in a sunny country, but here in the UK it does. If you notice the promo shoots, they all have busy environments. Why? To distract you not to notice the lack of sharpness! Also the promo photos are taken under ideal conditions and I'll bet you they are using tripods. Anyway, don't keep your iPhone in its box in a drawer. Make someone happy by gifting it to her. ;)

The fingerprint sensor is not slower. You are doing it wrong. You should set up the phone so when you pick it up the movement sensor makes the fingerprint place-marker visible. Press-touch and you are good to go! This is a great phone if you are not interested in photography or you do not mind complicated menu trees. I am sending mine back because the photography is really disappointing - all washed out, and the sound is not that great, either despite the Dolby Atmos. BTW there is a very good reason the Huawei are not coming to the USA - it is security. But for those who like a phone which is all fur coats but no knickers, it is ideal. The best thing about it is the battery.

why mate 20 pro is the best phone this year ? it's PACKED with features, although you might find some stuff annoying like the gestures or the bug of pressing the second recent after accessing your recents or that the camera is second to the new google pixel etc etc . my point is what is the use of a so called better phone ( in a certain aspect not over all ) if that phone is dead . the mate 20 pro ,although needs some tweaks and fixes that im sure huawei will release software updates very soon, from experience it's a fucking amazing phone and most importantly it wont die on you while other devices will . so a phone that's better at one thing that will die or a phone that's overall miles ahead that will last you sometimes 2 days. ding ding ding and mate 20 pro is the winner by K.O
