I stopped playing MTG. Sold the cards when they actually had a value. No one wants to play anymore except the hard core. Physical cards are a dying breed.

White, because she hates the Douche frat boys...and she's totally wrong...unless you look at the Veteran Bodyguard...and then she's totally right.

The last time I played MtG was probably 99' and I lived in a small town with little to no other players so I fell out of it very quickly but now with the interwebs being the way they are I can just play online against randoms :P
I understand the game but I'm not very good at setting up or even reading plays, this video series is very helpful at giving info and just basic strategy :D
with Magic Duels being out along with me finding this series I'm happy to say I'm getting back into it and really enjoying myself lol. So I'd like to thank you for giving Magic such a positive look and helping me rekindle my joy for it!
(also the reason this comment is on such an old video is because I'm loving this series so much I've went back and watched almost every episode in the last two days haha :P)
im in pretty much the exact same situation as you (minus actually playing the tabletop game, noone i know have been interested or willing to pay the amount of money required to make a decent standard deck.) and the magic duels game is pretty much what i needed to get into magic. ive been playing hearthstone for a while but i think ill stop in favor of magic since i much prefer the general direction magic is going/has been and how little RNG there is to the compared to hearthstone.

It is kinda funny, the online game sucked me in and then went down constantly for the first three days and got me missing it so much I ordered an Origins booster box so I can try and start playing irl again seeing as I don't live in a bush town anymore haha.
The best episode so far! The dynamic of the duo felt much more vivid than interaction seen in previous episodes. Sean witty as always!
Just started playing and learning little by little, this video was funny, and actually helped me a lot! thanks! Now to go watch the others...
I love how since this is a Geek & Sundry show, Day[9] essentially spends the whole episode ragging on and insulting his boss.

I'd love to see multiple games between players to show more of the deck, since a bad draw can make for a quick relatively boring game. Also seems a shame to go through all the trouble with the studio for one game (unless you recorded all of them in a few sessions, which would make more sense actually)

Now I really want to see Sean take on Ryon Day. I could see it being a trash talk extraordinaire!
That would be hilarious. And I hope they both get some sort of counter control blue decks. Yes I know the game could be slow and boring but any magic player knows with Ryan and Sean's personalities it becomes a match of pure silliness.

I am dead from laughter over here. I really love that most of this game is Felicia and Sean yelling nonsense at each other.
Hilariously entertaining match! I really liked their banter with Sean as funny as always. Felicia is great too. I loved her little back stories and impressions of her minotaurs

Still really love the editing and Felicia I love the colour you've put in your hair. I think maybe at the beginning there should be a little note explaining that the rules are more fully explained in earlier episodes, so that new viewers (who don't know Magic) know to go back and check those out first.

Haven't played magic for close to 30 years... This show is making it hard to resist not coming back...
The game was first released during Gen Con 1993, and became popular in early 1994. Unless you're a time traveler, you couldn't have played MTG 30 years ago :-)

Here's a suggestion. Combine tabletop and spell slingers for one episode and cover the new commander decks in a four player game!

Can we stop worrying about whether someone "cheated" or not? This isn't a DCI sanctioned event. It is casual kitchen table Magic. The point is to drum up interest in a cool game, not to be rule lawyers. If you want to see top tier competitive play then watch the Pro Tour videos on MTG's channel.

I glad I stumbled upon this. I had 0 clue Day9 played Magic. Glad to find someone else like me who plays Magic and StarCraft 2.

as it was suggested in the comments of earlier spellslingers episodes, I'd have preferred Felicia playing some Boros human weenie stuff and day9 playing mono blue control - sadly that didnt happen but if there's ever going to be a rematch that's what i'm expecting :)

I'm fairly certain there were at least 3 different ways Sean could've won with the cards in his hand., I get it, you don't want to end the game in 5 minutes...but why not have a round 2, and do best 2/3 like a standard tournament?

These are two of my favorite nerds.
Definitely "a maze of minotaurs," because it's both alliteration and a reference to the greek myth (which also seems to work with this deck).
Really great production. Happy to see that gaming community can actually make something more then screaming and talking nonsense into a webcam.

the borderland Minotaur was not soposed to be summoned because he didnt have enough land 4:42
yes he did he tapped the mountain for 1 red then tapped voyaging satyr to untap the mountain and tap it again for a second red then the 2 forests for the final 2 colourless

I'm pretty sure it was still done wrong. To play the Minotaur he would of had to tap two mountain and two colourless at the same time. That's how it works from what I have played even with untapping effects. When you tap a land it doesn't add it to your mana pool unless stated which is a completely different thing anyway.

The move was indeed legal, as 1KevinsFamousChili1 described. When you tap a land it adds mana to your mana pool. It's original text was "(tap) add to your mana pool"

This was great fun, I would love to see a multiplayer spellslingers special, Day9, the Day Siblings and Wil Wheaton battling it out with the new commander precons.
