Great stuff, Ken. You should be a writer for next season or a Cobra Kai spin-off. I think they made it pretty clear that sensei Kim has a stronger connection to Kreese than to Silver so your theory makes perfectly sense in my opinion. The only question I have is, if Silver is coming back somehow because of his money and power. I cannot believe that he will let Sensei Kim take Cobra Kai from him so easy.

Also, Mike was taken out fast in the attack on Terry's place by a hit to the back of his head (S5xE10). He only revives toward the end. Realistically, I think this is due to the medical issues Sean was dealing with, but plot wise it doesn't make a lot of sense ... unless what you said is true and he really is in league with KDE (Kim Da Eun). That knock to the head could have been staged to explain Mike not helping to take down KDEs senseis.
Yes, this is an excellent follow-up point that adds fuel to this idea.

Good theory but the part about sliver not burning down Barnes store is false,sliver literally said “first I’m gonna deal with my old friend” referring to Barnes and said not to play with fire =burning down stuff
I might do another video about Silver, though here are some things that stood out to me about the phone call and fire: 1) Daniel was the one who left the message for the lawyer and never mentioned Mike Barnes. Why would Terry know that Mike is the person who gave him that information? 2) Even if Terry knew Daniel got the info from Mike, shouldn't Terry be much more angry at Daniel? 3) Why would Terry burn down Mike's furniture store? What's his goal in doing that? 4) Why didn't Terry burn down LaRusso Auto?

It would also make Kreeses prison escape more believable. If Kim Da-Eun has the resources to make Barnes while again, she definitely could have paid someone on the inside of the prison to assist with prison break
The resources in manpower sure, but not the money and those connections to enter the tournament.

Love the theory and the evidence to support it. It has some crossover with my theory around Barnes working with Silver and also some nice clashes! Either way, I certainly don’t think it was a coincidence that Mike kidnapped them and convinced them to attack Silver at his house

Ken Cole, I respectfully disagree with your theory.
First of all, Kim had no faith in Terry Silver to handle things already from the moment she stepped out of the jet. I argue that she had her guard up at the mention because:
- First, Chosen infiltrated the Dojo and the house of Terry;
- Second, Daniel is willing to work with an old enemy in the person of Mike Barnes.
- Third, Daniel trespass the house of Terry not once, but twice to talk to Stingray.
- Forth, Johnny and Chosen stepped in to the old Topanga Karate Dojo to fight her Sensei.
- Fifth, Robby disrespectfully interrupted the class of Kim and Terry Silver to turn their student against them.
Sixth, Johnny, Chosen, Daniel and Amanda barged into the Cobra Kai Dojo during an evaluation session with the Tse Kai Tai Kai committee.
- Finally, she probably saw the footage of the kids when they came to see Stingray at the house given by Terry Silver. (Please, remember that Stingray knew the house was bugged when they came.)
Therefore, she understands perfectly, that now, they will stop at nothing to destroy Cobra Kai. Contrary to Terry Silver, she doesn't underestimate her opponent, she is anticipating their next moves.
It makes perfect sense. After burning someone's only source of incomes, I think I would be afraid too of retaliation from them. She knows that Mike Barnes is unstable and desperate for revenge. This is why, she is looking at the CCTV of the house and of the dojo and had her Senseis guarding the house, just in case Daniel's clique strikes back. In terms of narrative, it all make perfect sense.
Seeing her reaction, in the back, when Terry Silver lost to Daniel. I don't think she had other plans in the back of her mind with Mike Barnes. She left way before the end of the fight.
Seeing what, Johnny Lawrence, Chosen Taguchi and Mike Barnes did to her Senseis, at Terry's mention, I don't think she would want to have anything to do whatsoever with Mike Barnes now or in a near future.
Her Senseis were her best sources of incomes to teach ″ The Way of The Fist ″. Now, they are all severely injured. Plus, in the court of public opinion, in the USA and also back in her country in South Korea, she is guilty by association to Terry Silver's criminal actions. She will need a major PR campaign to clean her Image and reputation.
Her name and the one of her family are tarnished forever. She will be banned of the Tse Kai Tai Kai tournament forever. Now, she has lost everything. (Her dream to popularized ″ The Way of The Fist ″, her current source of incomes and the only legacy of her family)
I rest my case.
Personally, seeing how crazy she is, I'm anxiously anticipating what will be her retaliation at all of them in Season 6 of Cobra Kai.

Your analysis comprehensively describes KIM DA EUN's problematic situation as Cobra Kai's remaining sensei in season 6. She cannot save and rebuild the fallen dojo all by herself. Kim will need to seek the help of others, most likely JOHN KREESE who wants Cobra Kai returned to him and possibly HECTOR SALAZAR because of his personal resentment against Johnny. MIKE BARNES could still be a player in their dojo's power struggle if Kreese or Kim can persuade him to join them versus Daniel, Chozen and Johnny.

Kim didn't even recognize who was Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence, by sight, when Johnny came to the ex Topanga Dojo. She only knew Daniel Larusso by name.
I doubt she even bothered to check who was Mike Barnes(...the guy who failed to help Terry Silver, in the past, to beat a crying rookie at a local small town Karate tournament).
Personally, this is not the person I would call to built my global Karate Empire. Kim hired people wearing eye patch that dress like Ninja Assassins… not a chubby local furniture store owner.
She was iffy to work with Terry a Vietnam War Veteran and a high level Karate Master, You think she would run to a has-been Teen level Karate Champion? Therefore, respectfully, to me, this theory doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Kim Dae Un is a Cobra, so everything is possible. She could have known about Mike Bernes through John Kreese. Since Mike Barnes and Silver’s goons wrecked Miyagy’s and Daniel’s Bonsai store, it’s obvious to assume that Silver burned Mike’s store, it’s Silver’s MO. This theory you presented is very interesting, let’s see what happens,

I just can’t see Barnes being in league with Kim. I really believe his arc is one of redemption, and I think his storyline will continue down that path for season 6. With a portion of his backstory timeline, that he shared with Daniel at his furniture store, picking up from the aftermath of the tournament loss to Daniel in Karate Kid 3, it’s clear that he’s on team Daniel, Johnny and Chozen. I think it would actually destroy the Mike Barnes character, in relation to the overall story of Cobra Kai and Karate Kid.
And maybe that’s why KimDa Eun planned the fire on Mike Barnes store.

The kid on, young kreese and silver scene, when they were sparring, it could be kim da Eun. Kreese on that scene smiled on the kid that is similar to kim da Eun, he probably trained her or they're close together. Just my theory, but i think they might team up as villain in season 6.

I would so love this plot! But sadly or not, however you look at it, the man behind Mike Barnes doesnt want Mike to be a villain so that storyline wouldnt be able to happen.
I say all three John kreese Mike Barnes and Kim da Eun and silver
I had thought but from beginning that it was Silver who was in league with Barnes, but you do provide a decent alternate scenario.
Still, I'm leaning toward Silver being the manipulator behind it But if your theory has merit, i would think that Silver set out colluding with Barnes and Kim went behind his back to double cross him (but i doubt Kim could beat Silver price wise).
Three main reasons for this:
1. Of course Kim wasn't surprised to see the limo crash through the gates. Silver would have to let her in on that part of the plan for her and her senseis to be waiting.
2. The Rembrandt.
That's Silver's payment to Barnes. It's only valuable if it can be fenced for a good price. Silver would have those connections. No evidence that Barnes, Kim, or Kreese would.
3. The limo.
How did Barnes know that Chozen, Johnny, and Daniel were all partying with a chauffered limo when they only made the plan hours before? Someone has connections in the limo business, and Silver is the one we've seen uses limos before
Kim is the next number one leader of dojo as Sensei. Barnes is number two and John Kreese is the 3.

I think Kim did manipulate Barnes and she knew they were coming probably because at some point Barnes texts that they going their to take Silver down but I think that Silver could’ve been responsible for it only because of one line “Oh my What a crime”-Terry Silver Season5 epsiode 10
How about this: Mike Barmes will take over Kobra Kai. This is the ultimate revenge over Daniel and Miyagi-do.

Perhaps helping himself to Silver's treasures is part of Mike's payment. Or maybe he just wanted more... Maybe he thought the amount Sensei Kim offered was very generous, but for him to do his best, which is what he wanted to do, he'd need some additional souvenirs 😉

I think that Mike Barnes is secretly bad all along and was just trying to fool Daniel into thinking he’s a changed man. As for Terry Silver burning down his store, I think he just ordered his students to do it. And he could have also been working with Kim Da-Eun all along after it happened in order to get revenge on Silver.

Idk man. Apparently Sean Kanan only agreed to reprise the role under the condition his character would be a changed man. Unless if your theory is true, then he must’ve been really intrigued by the potential storyline for season 6 for Barnes to stay evil.

Maybe Kim Da Eun contracted kreese to let him know about the plan. She knows silver was lying about him and tells him to find a way to get out of the prison so they can lead cobra Kai together

@@KenCole What if she visited Kreese as soon as possible after her arrival in the US and he planned everything with her? In my book he is the ultimate Big Bad but with hope for redemption. I need a positive conclusion for him and Johnny because after all that he did he still was kind of a father to Johnny.
Good theory but Sean Kanan stated in few interviews that he stipulated if he were to return as Mike Barnes he wanted to be the good guy after he saw how Johnny slowly redeeming himself and Chozen already being reformed he wanted the same for Barnes so I doubt he'd be associated with Da-Eun knowing he confronted Silver for the arson attack.

I mentioned this over a year ago that Kim Dae-Un had some connection to Kreese and no real loyalty to Silver. Honor is Rule #1 with Asians and any betrayal to that rule can only be remedied by death. Silver betrayed Miyagi, Kreese, Daniel, Barnes, and Sensei Kim. And most importantly of all, Silver betrayed karate. . . .and he lied. I cannot think of any way he can redeem himself.
Terry definitely is in trouble with a lot of people!

Buy when Mike found out that silver burned down his store he changed his mind I think

Mike Barnes absolutely is working for Terry Silver. Here is why I say this. Cousin Louie said in 1 scene that he bets Silver has Daniel under surveillance now we need to ask ourselves how did Mike Barnes know exactly where Daniel was going to be that night unless Louie is correct and Silver has Daniel under surveillance. Another reason is that Mike Barnes was taken down way to easily and quickly at Silver's house. Also he just happened to wake up just from being knocked out just as Johnny finished the fight with Silver's sensei's. Too much of a coincidence. This is why I say that Mike Barnes is working with Terry Silver. Everyone I say this to thinks I'm crazy. Well we will find out in Season 6 just how crazy I am with everything that I just pointed out. We will see that I am 100% correct.
I'm not seeing it, i'm not feeling it. Sometimes a cake is just a cake. If anything, I think the writers would pull the ultimate reverse UNO and have Julie working for Kim. I think people WANT the BAD Boy back so much that they will invent theories to make that fantasy come true. The only way this theory could hold water is with the idea of manipulation and not open complicity.

I think Mike quickly backing down (Despite being on "something stronger") from accusing Daniel of burning the store is simply due to him knowing deep down that Daniel is not capable of that. I still think Silver had the store burned down due to him playing the message on his phone to him. Mike knew about the lawyer, Silver was obviously still in touch with the lawyer. It had to be Silver.

Good plot but Kim Da Un flew from Korea to California, It wouldn't make sense for mike barnes to secretly work for Sensei Kim Da Un.
I think if Barnes was working with Kim, it would have been after she landed and possibly made contact with Kreese in prison.
Kim da eun and kreese will team up with Johnny chosen mike and Daniel to take out silver
