I'm not sure there's enough room on here for me to comment on all of that. First, I've worked for a franchise here for 9+ years. They've been in this business for 32 years. Our main corporation has been in business for 52.
One of the WORST things you can do is run too high a pressure. You're better off using a lower pressure and taking your time. Anything over 1000-1200 psi is overkill, unless you're on concrete. You run to great a risk of damaging what you're working on. On that note, you also need to pay attention to the GPM of the pumps. We use 4.5 GPM pumps, all the way up to 10 GPM. Using a really low GPM can make things a pain due to taking forever to get a decent clean. Usually people will have to run higher pressures than they should to get the desired results.
When cleaning something, whether it's conc., decking, siding, w/e, don't keep going over the same area, back-n-forth, back-n-forth. You'll leave a noticeable spot, like Frankie was doing to the deck, with the swirl patterns. Take one pass and shift to the side and come back, overlapping each time.
Also, don't go too fast, like the gentleman on the concrete. He was going WAY too fast, as shown by the patterns he left. He would've left a perfectly clean area if he'd gone at least HALF the speed he was going.
I could keep going, but this is long enough.

    Couple things,
It’s not a power scrubber. It’s a flat surface cleaner.
PSI isn’t nearly as important as gpm.
Concrete isn’t necessarily “psi proof”. You can easily knock the cream off of concrete if you are not careful.
Most of the time, decks can be cleaned with a Softwash approach. Much safer for wood surfaces.
That Stihl is a good unit. I enjoy your vids,

A buddy had a detailing business He had a trailor mounted 100 gallon He used a pressure regulator valve that returned extra pressure to the tank
The car detailers business uses a ultra filtered water that is purer than deionized water that wouldn't leave water spot
He started a side business useing that water to clean solar panels
By turning up the pressure He could lobe His water up to second floor roof solar panels and float the dust off them

Thanks for posting. I enjoy your videos a lot.
I live in the wet pacific northwest where we fight moss and mold build up most of the year. There is no doubt that pressure washing wood is as much an art as it is science to avoid damaging wood and painted surfaces. To help me avoid damaging the wood, I apply a deck cleaning product to my cedar deck then follow up with a rinse using a high degree fan setting with a higher nozzle height from the wood. This process has worked well for me over the years and has saved time in the long run. This is because I don't have to sand the deck surface to get rid of the "fuzz" and gouges resulting from using too much pressure and a nozzle that passes too close to the surface. The cleaner/soap gets to the mold, etc., helps restore the natural color of the wood, and extends the life of the finish sealer I apply a couple days after power washing.
I have not used the surface cleaner on my deck because of the short distance between the nozzle and the wood. That said, I really appreciate the time savings and results when using the surface cleaner with my 3,100psi (not adjustable) power washer on my concrete walks and sealed asphalt driveway - it does a great job. To extend the life of the tool and keep the surface cleaner wand spinning freely, I suggest periodically disassembling the wand then applying grease to the bushings.
Carpet cleaning with a pressure washer is a leap to far for me although I would be interested in seeing if placing the carpet on level ground and using the surface cleaner would get better results. I think I'll stick with low tech soap and a brush for the time being.

You can change your pressure on your surface cleaner by changing out your tips to a larger tips it will increase your flow reducing pressure.
Example if your running a 3gpm pump say 3000psi with (2) 1.5 gpm tips you can change it to say (2) 3gpm tips and it would drop to say 1200 ish psi.
If you need more info check out powerwashstore.com or other PowerWashing stores. They are more than happy to help if you contact them.
Also if you want longer results with mold or algae look into softwash. It can stretch your results up to 2years.
And yes I own a Power Washing business specializing in softwash for roofs and siding (Mud Bug Power Washing LLC.) Good luck

Things that weren't discussed in this video, make sure your nozzles GPM match your pressure washer or at least have the nozzles gpm rated slightly higher than the pressure washer puts out this includes surface cleaners. Any smaller and your putting extra stress on the pump and unloader valve.
    Number 2
Make sure your gpm on your house spickets flow more or equal to what the pump needs. For instance I pressure washed at a house recently that was only 2 years old had alright pressure but had 3.5 gpm I have a gauge to measure it so I know weather or not to use a buffer tank. My pressure washer requires at least 6 gpm. If your gpm coming into the the pressure washer is less than it puts out your gonna have cavitation in the pump and it will completely destroy it over time probably not right away but that does nkt mean its not destroying it.
    Number 3
Even if your pressure washer has variable pressure you shouldn't ever turn it down to much from full pressure even tho manufacture includes it on pressure washers turning down the pressure can damage the unloader valve and pump valves. Just choose a pressure washer with a rated pressure for your application.
    Number 4
In the video he said on concrete you can use however much pressure you want basically. This is a horrible idea to much pressure can actually take a lot of material off of the top you should choose a lower pressure at higher gallons per min. Like 3500 psi at 5 to 6 gpm rather than 5000 at 2.5 gpm for example. Pressure is not necessarily cleaning power 90% of the time GPM is cleaning power. a 3000 psi pressure washer at 6 gpm will clean and be way more efficient and save large amount of time compared to a higher pressure lower gpm pressure washer. As for equipment depends on the application but if your a business a belt operated pressure washer with 3500 psi and a decent 5 gallons per min or more can do about every single surface pretty safely all depending on nozzles used of course. Best part is since its belt operated you can just turn the engine speed down to lower the pressure for like soft woods this wont hurt the pump where as the pressure washer in this video turning down the pressure can hurt the pump.

Make sure when getting a surface cleaner to get one that has bearings for the spinning arm. Some of the older ones going back 2-3 years, and some of the cheaper ones use brass bushings instead of bearings and they can easily get chewed up quickly. I dodnt know thay when I got mine. It has bushings and works well, but I have to pull it apart and regrease it after every use or it will stop spinning.

Would be happy to share our expertise anytime, equipment profiles, tactics, tricks of the trade, etc. anytime! I believe it's an updated Stihl RB800, the old ones didn't have soap reservoirs.

It’s a soap / soft wash system.. I’ve always found pool shock to work great in a soft wash.

Make sure you save yourself time and both a scrubber and a broom… you have no idea how useful that broom is tho. Use power scrubber to do larger surfaces then I’m gonna with the broom and push off all that stuff you just lifted up then I’ll use 40 degrees on all your edges and anywhere you might have missed give it one more quick rinse with the 40 tip after you hit any spots you missed and your good. TIME IS MONEY and your tools save you time so do your self a favor like I did when I started and get everything you need and more before you start out I lucked out and already new what I needed from working at a pressure washing company but even then you want to do some research and use that the pros are using to save yourself time to get another job.

You do not need a pressure washer to clean your deck - Pretreat using a sprayer with this and if necessary scrub a few spots then wash off.
    5 gallon formula:
1.5 gallons of sodium hypochlorite 10-12%
    3.25 gallons of cold/cool water
    10 oz. of TSP

    10 oz. of Borax
2 oz. Lemon Joy or Gain

You don't need a screw gun to put up a deck, you can just use a screwdriver. See how that sounds? Pretty dumb, huh?

Im not trying to be an ass... But please just leave the pressure and soft washing to the professionals, it's obvious that y'all have no clue as to what you're doing, y'all dont even fully understand what your equipment is and how its used.... Ohh and just a fyi its called a surface cleaner, not a "power scrubber" lol

  • @partypoison485
    @partypoison485 Před 2 lety

this video is a joke?? you want more pressure? no you want more water per minute. that gutter attachment is useless.. WATER BROOM IS NOT FOR CLEANING!!, water broom is for rinsing.
The surface cleaner is not a scrubber... not to mention.. the pros use walk behind surface cleaners.. those lance surface cleaners are pathetic.
but most importantly... DONT USE HIGH PRESSURE ON WOOD!!!!! the pros softwash wood.
i used one of these exact units a few months back and i can say... it is not good. the guy who had this machine very quickly upgraded.
yes i make a living pressure cleaning.. and no you would not use this Stihl toy for anything other than a small patio.. no way you could make a living using this Stihl...
And that nozzle will 100% break.. get a jrod.
and the soap.. its called downstreaming.
its not called a circular motion head.. its a turbo head.and NEVER turbo head wood or anything painted or rendered.. turbo heads give more psi.
how on earth did you have a pressure washing business and not know the difference between a surface cleaner and a scrubber!?!?
