- BRANDS TESTED: Ryobi, Karcher, Stanley, Sun Joe, WEN, CAT, WORX & Yard Force. Electric pressure washers tested for maximum pressure (PSI) and pump output (gallons per minute). High pressure washers also tested for removing dirt and mold from wood and timed for applying and removing soap from a vehicle. I purchased all of the pressure washers. So, thanks for supporting the channel.

If you want to give one away, let me know. I was about to start a residential pressure washing business where I just moved to, and someone stole my dang equipment out of the building it was stored in, 3 hours away where I'm originally from.
Let my tool insurance lapse due to financial difficulties, like a moron, and learned an expensive lesson.
I know these aren't made for most residential jobs, but having a small one is great for some jobs.
Your new Slogan for your channel should be! "We're Gonna test that!!"
Couldn’t find one made in America?
The "proprietary" connecter many of these have is considered "consumer standard". If you have a pressure washer or accessory, its either the M22 or this "proprietary" connector...
Would a test of battery powered power washers be worth it. I recently purchased a Dwalt 40 volt power washer thinking possibly that a DC powered motor with the advantage of a DC batteries inherently greater ability to provide more power than a 120 volt AC powered system. I was seriously disappointed and immediately returned it. Dwalt should be embarrassed by offering such a poor performing piece of equipment. Maybe there are other manufacturers that are offering better options. I hope you decide to test this option.

I did not expect this comparison to be of such high quality. The time spent comparing applicable real world aspects was worth me taking the time to leave a comment. What a treat and I really appreciate the speed you moved at to cram all that info into 19 minutes. You get straight to the point and focus only on the meat, nothing else. I wish more reviews were like you. I also noticed how incredibly responsive you are to this high volume of comments. That's pretty unreal and I almost never see that kind of engagement with viewers. @False Flag You might have better luck if you trying using a higher quality automotive soap
Actually, he never wiped down the soap, so It's barely any better than a soapless pressure washer rinse. Read the foam cannon instructions if you want proper results.
@False Flag I do. As an automotive detailing enthusiast, you'll never get that layer off with just a pressure wash. Usually you can make it more manageable by washing your vehicle more frequently, as the dirt tends to embed deeper the longer it sits. I recommend ceramic coating, or waxing, if you want to be able to just blast it off every once in a while. Doesn't keep it perfectly clean, but it really helps. Even the cheaper kits you'll find on Amazon should do the trick.

If you dont release the pressure in the system after using it by pulling the trigger after you have unplugged it from power and water then at first frost the water left inside the pump will freeze, expand and break your pressure washer. Warranty doesn't cover that as it's in the instructions. Just because no one reads them the pressure washer company wins every year when you need to buy a new one! 🤣

The cat pressure washer is made by a company called Active. So if you want to save 25 bucks you can get the exact same performance by buying their VE52 pressure washer.
The real tips are in the comments
I have a VE52, it's the only pressure washer I've ever used, but more than satisfied with it so far. Consistent, and enough power for the jobs I have.
This is very true
Thanks for the feedback.
It looks like the Active version has a better wand holder as well. It doesn't stick straight up like it does on the CAT, however the CAT includes an extra 25 degree nozzle.
I have a Ryobi similar to the one you tested, I considered it disposable when I bought it for 100 bucks but have been absolutely abusing the hell out of it for 4 years now, and it still works at the same mediocre performance as when it was new.
Thanks for the feedback.
As always, fantastic testing methods! I actually have use for a light duty pressure washer and this video helped me make an informed decision! Thanks again Todd!
Thanks and you are welcome!
Todd, I (and I am sure many others) would like to see a comparison of "consumer grade" carpet cleaners (not professional steam extractors). Comparing Hoover, Eureka, Bissell and even Rug Doctor, for cleaning ability and durability would be great. It would be nice to see how these carpet cleaners work on "real world" dirt, as opposed to the staged settings the manufacturers show them working in. Personally, I have always had good luck with Bissell, but it would be great to see how all of the leading brands perform against each other. Just a suggestion. Take care.

Another great video. I'd love to see a gas grill comparison. Things like uniformity of heat, max temperature, controllability, affect of wind, ease of cleaning. I know this would be more expensive than your normal tests but I think it would be really helpful in buying a new grill.
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
I BBQ alot. 4-5 days a week. All year long. I have had almost every propane BBQ made. Full size and portable. Most work pretty good overall and will cook food. The real issue with propane BBQ's is longevity and price. Because I'm a cheapskate, I tried most cheaper brands. None worked at 100% for more than 3 years. None. Usually 1 1/2-2 years and the igniter doesn't work. Also the burners start to go. Then one year I got a weber genesis as a birthday present. I knew the webers were good because other family members had them. After 22 years, I finally rebuilt it with a new igniter and burners. Worked like new again. I gave it to my son and now it's almost 30 years old and still cooks like a champ. I started picking up old weber that people threw out and I rebuild them and sell them cheap. So easy to do.
I would love to see a BBQ shootout. I think the hardest thing to test would be longevity so we would need yearly updates. Weber BBQs are usually at least twice as much as most other BBQ but will last almost forever. You really can't compare the overall value and even cooking of a weber to ANY other BBQ in my life experience. Also the weber company is such a pleasure to deal with. I'm looking forward to this video if/when it happens. Thanks for all your hard work!

Thank you for all your research and unbiased honest reviews. I'll get a CAT the pressure washer if and when my Ryobi goes out. The reason I chose the Ryobi is 1) Hoem Depot offers a 30-day if you don't like it... you can bring it back and 2) the 3-year warranty (and buy the replacement plan because... if or should it go bad, you take it to the Home Depot Store, and they give you a brand new one on the spot. No need to ship it back to a warranty center at YOUR expense Note: the warranty cost is way less than the shipping). Mine is now 5 years old and still has no problems. BIG tip: Hook everything up, turn the water on, pull the trigger, and bleed ALL THE AIR OUT BEFORE you turn the power switch on. Running a pressure washer dry is what kills them. I have other brand P/W's and they won't die either and a 20 plus year old DeVilbiss gas P/W 2000psi/2.0gpm and it won't die (the hose did die/fall apart internally). Again, the key is bleeding all the air out first. Awesome review.

You are welcome!
Wow!! I'm impressed over all you do.. I've been watching you for a yr or 2 here and there.. Never knew you did test with all the thing I always wanted to know (like you read my mind) I thought you just did oils/fluids. I HAD TO SUBSCRIBE!! 😁👍
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
The best pressure washer is the one that somebody else uses to pressure wash your driveway instead of you
lol Thanks for watching!
lol well said.
I don't know how but this guy reads my mind. Every time im in the market for something, he makes a video on it!
Awesome! Thank you!
I lost my 10mm socket again... I wonder if he'll do a video on the least losable 10mm wrench?
Thank you Project Farm. I ordered my Cat as I needed a capable electric pressure washer that had few limitations.
You are welcome! Thanks for sharing.
Every time I need to buy something, I find myself searching Todd's channel "just in case ". More often than not, I find what I'm looking for. I'm off to buy the Stanley because I can't afford the Cat on my military retirement. Thanks for the great unbiased tests and reviews.
You are welcome!
Looks like many of these came out of the same manufacturing facility.
Probably did. These little "pressure washers" are basically toys - completely useless compared to a real pressure washer. Try washing algae off a driveway with one of these things - you'd be out there for a month!
Thanks for the feedback.
@@gorak9000 But they were great for rinsing cars and crap around the home.
If these were taken apart I suspect I'd find a lot of similar parts, especially the pumps. Either identical or very similar on many.
I've owned the Ryobi for 6 years now. I use it for an hour, about twice a twice a week. It's still going strong.
I love my ryobi
Mine meets my needs as well. Take care of it and use the pump saver juice. I have very hard water.
Thanks for sharing.
love your videos, you need to sell merch:
"We're gonna test that!"
You can view and purchase this merchandise at project-farm.com
My Karcher is 23 years old , still great. To bad you can’t figure out what really matters . Quality and life of unit. I’ve seen to many people burn through cheap units .
My point as well. Karcher is oldest company manufacturing pressure washers.
These tests are ok. But they do no test how many years these pressure washers last. So for me is this test useless.
I had 3 Karcher pressure washers over 20 years and no issues ( over time I was buying more expensive models and selling the old ones)
Btw I would spend $400 for good one
Manufacturer; innocuous marketing fluff
Project Farms; "we're gonna test that!"
Manufacturer: *nervous laughter*
I've had the Sun Joe for a few years now and it's been pretty good. These tests are pretty accurate to my experience. One thing I highly recommend for any of these pressure washers, especially the adjustable tip ones, is to get an inline filter for your hose. It'll save you a lot of hassle by stopping mineral deposits from clogging the nozzles up.
Thanks for sharing.
I've never seen your channel until now but man you put together an excellent video here. No nonsense. Subscribed and will be checking our your other videos
Thanks! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Appreciate how thorough and conclusive you are! Thank you.
You are welcome!
You should test some Gas Pressure Washers.
Thanks for the video idea.
I love when he says, "we're going to test that"
Thank you!
The ryobi lunch box sized one has been my favorite so far. I've put it thru hell over a few years and it's not dead yet....
Used it to strip old latex paint (and bird crap....) Off a shed floor
I bring out the popcorn 🍿 when he says “ we are gonna test that “ can you imagine being the marketing team of that product ? 😳
LOL
"This one's made by a company that calls itself NoCry. We're gonna test that."
Karcher (pronounced Kerher) used to be number 1 in Europe. But that was 15 years ago before they started to make they power washers cheap and made in china. Now only the higher class is good - K5 and above.
Very true. We had one fairly basic model in 90's and it lasted for...ages in farm usage. But these modern cheapo Chinese models are the same as any "shop branded models" available. Iirc that 90's model had stainless or brass pump parts. I think my dad even bought some pump spare parts for it back then at it's last years. About 100% sure that you can't buy anything for these modern cheapo models.
@@jothain You can buy spares for the new ones and you will have to as like you said they are plastic mostly - control head and distribution head are plastic and they crack easy. Prices for the spares are ridiculous expensive! Also the motor is not water cooled as it used to be with the old ones. The old ones are water cooled and with metal internals (I think it is a kind of stainless steel if I remember correctly).
Thanks for the feedback.
@@ProjectFarm I will be interesting to start a new series - old vs new. Buy old tools from ebay and new equivalent. Test them to see if old and used is really better than the new ones that are cheap and plastic.
As someone that's is about to buy a pressure washer, and after find your channel, because of ceratec liqui moly, Jesus, you're the best. Thank you so much for all your videos. I have been the past 3 days watching non stop 🤣. God bless you. Cheers from Mexico!
Thanks and you are welcome!
Thank you for your awesome work, doing the entire world a genuine service by helping people make informed choices when buying gear!
You are welcome! Thanks for your support to the channel!
the main conclusion from your tests - almost everything is made in China
I was supprised the Kärcher was made in China as in Europe only the cheapest lower end models are made in China all the more expensive models 120+ are still made in Germany
Thanks for watching!
Plot twist there all made in the same factory
@@jamesbbaylis3966 haha
@@Unlovable karcher have been getting poor reviews for a while now in the UK. Better off with Bosch if you want a German manufacture.
Stanley seems like performance vs cost is nice.
Thanks for the feedback.
But the thing that kills the stanley is the lack of real nozzle tips. In order to upgrade that you'd need to buy both new a hose and a new wand. Once you factor in that cost you're near or past the much better performing cat!
@@MidniteClimax that's only a problem if you're planning to upgrade.
@@MidniteClimax I think hyper tough could solve that. No adjustables and spray regress fits with almost every brand
Wow, what an astounding well done video. I like to research before I buy and you sir take the cake on the work done for such a purchase. Thank you!
Thanks and you are welcome!
Looking at going to buy the STIHL one today, was hoping you had it in the mix, your channel is the best!
Thanks for the suggestion.
Amazing! I was just looking into which one would be best. Todd, I say this every week, but you have the greatest channel on CZcams. Your dedication to the process is second to none. And you're the only channel that I've turned notifications on for. Thanks for all the great content!!
Thank you very much for the positive feedback!! It means a lot to me!!
This might be a cheaper project but best sound proof drywall. Drywall seems to be the only cheap building material these days
Thanks for the video idea.
You get better results if you layer regular drywall with greenglue than using soundproof drywall, but it would be a nice test to see them compared
@@zaim_ipek never heard of that
@@thecommonsenseconservative5576 Then I am glad to introduce you to the wonders of GreenGlue™ It uses the same principle applied in soundproof drywall, which is constrained layer dampening.
In soundproof drywall, the various companies that make it use their own compounds sandwiched between two thin layers of standard gypsum drywall.
Green glue is a way for the consumer to make their own sandwich and results in better sound dampening. You just install one layer of drywall over the other with green glue in between them. This will make your wall thicker than simply using soundproof drywall, but it will also be more effective.
Excellent content and test methodology as usual. I’d love to see a comparison of household all purpose cleaners.
Thanks! Thanks for the video idea.
Was lookin for a vid on this and glad I found you again.. the crazy in depth tests I missed 😂🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
I’d like to see a automotive oil filter comparison under working conditions. You can find a hundred different videos where oil filters have been dissected but no videos that simulate real world use.
Thanks for the video idea.
I’ll save you the trouble, wix oil filters only. We tested them in school
Me too!
Fort nine channel posted a comprehensive filter type test recently if you're interested. The tldw is paper type actually has the highest filtration performance for all particle sizes but especially smaller size, with fiberglass being worse.
Neat, never seen a Karcher that looks like that. I'll assume that's some US-specific design
must be brand new, mine looks nothing like it in the US
@@TheGuruStud yeah it's a European tool brand, maybe they are expanding to the US
same, i only know of the tall ones with wheels, just like my previous 2. first one lasted 25 years and that was because the high pressure line froze and burst. Left it out in the winter :(
Another great video mate. I love your diligence in testing. Don't hate me, but practically in everyday usage, I would like to know about 1. how they perform with UV exposure if left outside in the sun and 2. simple banging of the couplings on the ground/ floor instead of a vice test. Thanks again. We support you.
Thanks!
This is by far the best pressure washer comparison video I have seen thank you very. Much for all your info
Thanks and you are welcome!
