  • In this video, Hunter updates you guys on the duck hole build and explains the changes we will make for next years "phase 2".
We wish it could have had a better outcome but mother nature had other plans.

Lots of work/time/money. I've basically been doing the same thing you've been doing. Been planting jap millet for the past 4 years. Worms got it every time. I check it weekly and spray often. Still got me. Going to try corn this year. Hopefully deer/birds wont eat it all before season. There have been days that i felt defeated. Maybe it'll all come together one day.

The army worms are no joke. Have you gotten a soil sample test for your area? We are going to do so and see if that helps us this year. Your plan will come together, stay persistent!

@@hunterworksoutdoors Doing soil sample this year. Millet was 4-5ft tall last year when worms moved in. Wiped it out in 5 days. Only 1 acre. Used golden millet last year. looked really good till the worms got it. Soil is black. Very fertile. One thing i've learned is to plant when rain is NOT in the forecast. A heavy rain will wash it out. Ground has enough moisture as is. I've tried bifen and demonMAX. Demonmax is the nuclear option. Not slow like bifen. I sprayed all trees surrounding the hole also. Good luck.

You need to make sure you culvert is sized appropriately. Even your spillway won’t be enough if both the culvert and the spillway aren’t big enough.

The excess water is going out the spillway and it will be 24ft wide, it will be plenty big. Thank you for your comment. After getting the berm blown out twice, I think we got this part figured out

I think extending it to the main road is a great idea and will also give those birds some refuge waters to hang out on. When theyre hungry they can come hit the trees. Such a beautiful property and in no time yall will be shootin green heads in the face. Love the update vids!

There are always set backs. I’ve had a few on my holes as well with high water damaging berms and beaver damns. Just keep after it and we’ll learn from these events.

@@hunterworksoutdoors Ha, thanks! At the moment, I need them to get to work. Recent flooding has damaged some dams that are supplying my water so they need to fix that ASAP. ;)
