    66 x 44. That’s a giant rain catchment surface. Hopefully, the cistern is huge! ;-)

    I like the simplicity of this roof design. BTW - Brandon is a rockstar!

    Very nice. I’d like to see something smaller with the same profile.

    Hopefully the low edge of that roof faces south so I can get the solar panels mounted and the mechanical room is large .enough for the inverter and the lithium batteries.

    So looking forward to this build. We finally settled on design and it will be an 1800 sf single slope.

    If I hit the lottery. I'd like that way of building the tilted roof. BUT I'm in Michigan. 🥶 🌨️❄️
    I'd need installation 👍🏻😍 maybe a lot of spray Foam installation 🙏🏻✌️

    I always love the mono-pitch roof. One "trick" to break up the tall side is an external sun shade (or extended patio cover) cantelievered off your steel columns at your low-side eave height. Especially handy on west or south exposures.

      @@patrickkenny2077 I have that delimna to overcome on my pending design. I will build modestly and have to optimize everything. Great room will face my lake front, being south. West is super shaded by mi afternoon. I want expansive glass on that view. I have seen so many interesting designs but what I like best is not done in bardo framing. I have spoken with Josh on various things and we are so much in line that I think I need to approach him and a structural engineer about elevating the hybrid design in that wall mounting the windows. Also facing the predominant wind direction. Challenges ahead on a property built for a great view.

    I just realized in your HVAC thinking portion, (unlike a conventional home plans) that the HVAC isn't included in the plans or blue prints you are using. Are there many TBB builds that figure it out as you go? Is the electrical already known? Or do you do it as you go also? Which do you prefer as a builder?

    We have built a barndominium already with a traditional 412 pitch roof, but this looks really interesting. We’re doing a second one because we’re just living in the shop, so the next one will be the Dreamhouse. I bet you need a lot of downspouts on the low side of that roof, because the gutters will have a lot of water coming at them in a downpour? But if you were doing a rainwater collection system, it would be a super easy way to get that into a cistern. It would also do a whole lot of solar panels! We did solar on this building already, and won’t do it on the next one.

    • @patrickkenny2077
      @patrickkenny2077 Před 25 dny +1

      You also have to be careful that the gutters are wide enough to prevent the rain from running past them.

    Love the slope design. I have a question about the long term safety of spray foam insulation, and if there are studies showing that it emits VOC or toxic compounds over time ?

    • @alantittle299
      @alantittle299 Před 25 dny +1

      One very conscious guy built a tight home and added the ERV. After living in it a while and tested super low VOC, he turned off the ERV. The VOC’s went up dramatically. The way I look at it it does not matter how you build, as you can’t keep ALL VOCs out. So spend on the ERV, Energy Recovery Ventilator. An absolute must in a tight home anyway.

      As if you use a torch that makes it non fabricated… no logic there. Our team fabricates all of our steel to size and puts it together in the field.
