Like laminate flooring, QuicTile is a floating floor but for tiles. It’s made of real porcelain tiles. Unlike traditional tiles, you can install this in a fraction of time, it costs savings, and no tiles installation experience is needed. For more info, visit homedepot.sjv.io/mYeBZ
To be clear, this can be installed over existing tiles. I removed the existing tiles, so I didn't have to work around the toilet and the vanity.

I’ve been in the trades for 49 years and self employed, licensed, as a carpenter/contractor....actually called a class C Contractor.....in Omaha for 41 years. I watch lots of how-to videos and compliment you on yours. Your descriptions are clear and concise, the production is good (the background music isn’t annoying, thankfully) and I don’t detect a “look at me!! I’m so cool!!!!” vanity. Actually there is one mistake that probably won’t matter but is key in a big floor, once you pour the self leveling you cannot spread it with anything, you have to let it run it self that’s why you should be prepared and mix a few buckets at the same time

In the midst of installing same product on a 45. Applaud this patient and well handled install. But on a 45 I am not loving this product😆 This is literally a flooring nightmare come true.
Most hard tile installers have no experience installing the floating lock together material...whereas most floor layers who deal with locking vinyl products don't usually deal with porcelain
It's a very unusual clash of two very different worlds
As a pro, this is a real challenge
Enough to make an old guy reconsider his life choices

As someone that has done a few bathroom tile installs, you will almost always get grout haze. One tip is to have another clean sponge and another clean bucket of water (2 extra is even better) to swap during the grout process. Even then you will probably have a very light haze in some areas. Not really a problem, just come back 24 hours after, bring a dry towel and you can buff out the haze with a little elbow grease. Try to stick to the tile and avoid buffing the grout within the grout line. Awesome job though.

Been tiling professionally for 15 years and had no idea there was a laminate tile system and gotta say job came up very nice man. Typically with standard grouts (polymer or cement based) When do a second wash about 20 mins after the first with a slightly wet sponge, if any efflorescence is left the next day we recommend a splash of white vinegar with warm water and a micro fibre cloth scrub after that mop with fresh water. While I don't know what the grout is like you used in the video it's normally a safe bet, also Glen what brand are those kneepads?

  • @joeny1980

I'm not an expert but one tip I heard that I've always done, to avoid grout haze. When wiping down the grout you get just two passes of the sponge (one each side) before cleaning it. Wipe it in a rolling motion. Essentially only cleaning with a clean sponge and this helps quite a bit.

Question: Why would you want to mix match your tiles (pick from a different box)?. I would think that one would want the grain to match/line up. I sometimes visit places and also notice that some people do install them mix matching them... and I always say NOOOO!!! WHYYYY!, might just be my part time OCD.

Nice job and I think perfect for a very small room. I am a bit skeptical about doing this in a large room though! We have a floating wood floor that locks together when installing it. Just as this floor, you have to leave 3/8ths inch on all sides and it floats on plastic sheeting. Our rooms are large and in two of the rooms we have to sort of kick the floor back together at a few joints. I believe it is from natural expansion and contraction, but maybe the hook joints either didn't hold up or were bad when made. Best of luck with it and hope to not only see the rest of the re-do, but also future updates on how you like it and how well it is lasting..

If you want to remove that grout haze QUICK and easy... just get a steam mop. I got one on Amazon with handheld attachment for like 75$ and it removed my grout haze in seconds. I had tried everything. I had used the wrong kind of grout on groutable vinyl tiles and ended up with the same problem. Using a steam mop was not recommended for vinyl tiles but I had not had any issues what so ever. It would work beautifully and safely on your tiles

I used these for two of my bathrooms a couple months ago and they turned out great. My install went over existing laminate flooring. For the cost though I wouldn't use these for larger projects. My only gripe with these are they aren't exactly 12" x 24" like regular large size tiles. One bathroom was exactly 8' long but since actual tile size is 11 1/4" x 23 1/2" it made figuring out how to lay out the tile a little more difficult so it didn't look like some rookie took the project on.

I have a major concern with this system:
If there is only a hair under one of these tiles they will start to rock. This will crack the grout pretty soon. Even it's flexible. It will crack over time.
What i want to state here:
This system is even less for beginners since the preparation of the floor needs to be spot on.

I just discovered your channel yesterday and you’ve given me two ideas already. I think this will be great in our basement bathroom which could really use some updating. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for making stuff that truly is easy enough for a beginner like myself to get into! Most videos I watch are already too much for me. lol

This is a great video. You explain things well, and you also show mistakes/challenges that are real world. I had never heard of this product before but I am going to use it on some sealed concrete I have which is difficult to prep for thinset, thanks!

Great job Glen, I have the same tiles, however mine are real and more time consuming. I'll keep this in mind for the next bath.

The way I do part tiles is this. First I place a full tile, over where the last full tile was. Then I take another full tile and place it over that first tile, where the edge of the wall is. I then draw a line there. This is where you cut it. Obviously you cut back more if needed. Hopefully I explain that properly.
