    Ya just got rid of my 890 duke…KTM keep,the ,manual. It was just under 2years old . Problems were as follows warped front discs (were change under warranty but made no difference)oil leak front head gasket (looked at under warranty but carried on leaking,)water leak at thermostat housing, indicators would come on in wet conditions without regeneration on the dash (dangerous) steer well clear . 😢

    I don't think comparing this to the 890 was the right way to go about this review since that bike is £3600 more and in a whole class above.
    The new 790 is really aimed at people below 24 that are going on to their A2 license, or just entirely new riders. The competing bikes for this category would be: Triumph Trident 660, Honda CB750 Hornet, Honda CB650R, Suzuki GSX8S, Suzuki GSXS950, Aprillia Tuono 660, Yamaha MT07, Suzuki SV650, Kawasaki Z650 and Benelli 752s. I'm sure I have still missed some off this list!

    • @mart7798
      @mart7798 Před rokem +1

      Thats probably not far off the truth,trouble is theres so many bikes in much smaller incriments now.when i started there was a more defined route.alot of this as you say is for the license compliance.i think the review did address the differences between the two,but its hard to compartmentalize alot of these bikes i spose.

      @Stanley88845 Před rokem +3

      @@mart7798 I get what you mean. It just felt like he was quite disappointed with the bike in the review and that he went in with expectations above what an £8000 bike can offer.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  Před rokem +1

      @@Stanley88845 This wasn't a comparison video. I merely expressed my thoughts on it at the end, and yes this bike is ideal for newer riders, but I wasn't giving my final thoughts as a new rider, I was giving it from my own experience. For that reason is why I said about waiting out for the 890 duke.
      Myself and Zoe will be doing more comparison videos coming up with bikes more aligned to each other.
      Thinking to what Mart 77 has said about there being so many bikes in smaller increments. You've said this bike is similar to the MT07, can I ask why not the Mt09.
      Looking at cc difference the MT09 is closer to the 790 than what the Mt07 is. But then you look at price the Mt07 is closer in price to the 790 duke than what the Mt09 is.
      Where do we draw the line in what is a comparable bike, is it cc, price, tech or is it just peoples personal views on what bikes are similar to each other?
      I know how comments can come across when reading them, for reference im not trying to be an arse 😁. Ride safe

      @Stanley88845 Před rokem +1

      @@DSR1YT don't worry, you're not being an arse in the slightest!
      I like your comparison between the MT07, 790 and MT09. It is certainly an interesting topic I haven't quite thought about.
      The MT07 and 790 are aimed at A2 / new riders, where as I'd say the MT09 is not. The thing is a wheelie monster! I don't think it's beginner friendly.
      The MT09 is closer to the 890 Duke than the 790 Duke. So it's in a class above. All though the difference between the 790 and 890 (non R) is so small! I wouldn't be suprised if they bring out a new 990 Duke to bridge the gap some more. However they aren't selling the 890 non R anymore, hence why I said for this year it isn't quite a fair comparison.
      I don't think CC is much of a useful metric when comparing bikes. R6? 600cc but makes the same power as an 890 Duke (all be it less torque and only above 10k rpm lol). A Harley?! Well we all know that story.... Another good example, Suzuki GSXS950. 1000cc!!! 95hp.....
      Price, features and how they ride is what matters, not numbers on a sheet. But again as you say, the lines are very blurry between bikes!

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  Před rokem +1

      @@Stanley88845 You make a good point. Looking on Yamaha website it says the MT09 can be made A2 compliant as well. Ive owned an MT10, and indeed this and the MT09 are nuts for torque and wheelies. Not ideal for a beginner on an A2. It would be interesting to test an MT09 that is A2 and one that isn't, to see the real difference.
      Some bikes are easy to pair them up for a comparison video and others, like the 790 fall between the two brackets of the bikes above and below it.
      We do the best we can and sod the rest aye?
      Just need some more sun and me and Zoe might actually be able to get out and film these VS videos.
