It’s always fun being british and playing along too. Lots of British slang is from small areas of the country and even other Brits won’t know them. Then you have the more widespread ones like ‘numpty’, ‘yobbo’, ‘asbo’, ‘doss’ and ‘dobbed’ that are a staple in the language mostly all over.
I’m from Leicestershire myself and use words like ‘mardy’, ‘okey’, ‘plaggie bag’, ‘gorrabagon’, ‘jitty’ and ‘laggie band’. I go to university and realise that they are specific to Leicestershire only. Seriously some crazy localised slang. I can define them all if anyone’s curious to know what they mean.

In Australia a punter is someone who puts on a lot of bets, usually on horse-racing, or other sports. When Gavin said Punters cousin I thought that seems familiar, when he gave the definition I was sure it was legit. "Someone who doesn't really know what's going on but acts like they do." Happens a lot around sports betting.

A punter in British slang (at least near me) is a customer. ie a couple of punters rocked up to the market stall. I wonder if that influenced his process

The UK doesn't have a punter in sports, but we do use the word to mean a customer, usually in a pub or a betting shop.

Fun fact! Punter is actually British slang for someone who’s at the pub (usually older people). In a sentence, you could say the pubs full of the same old punters like usual. Nothing sports related to it 😂

Punters are a real slang word across the puddle. It's a term restaurants use for their customers. Gavin had me pretty convinced with that one, the cheeky little sod.
