    Sifan Hassan completed an unprecedented 1500m and 10,000m double at the World Athletics Championships Doha 2019 by obliterating the 1500m championship record performance and climbing to sixth on the all-time list in a middle-distance final for the ages.
    A devastating front running display and a sub-60 second final lap enabled the 26-year-old Dutchwoman to pulverise the opposition, recording a time of 3:51.95 and claim the second-biggest winning margin in World Championship history.

    Hassan's closing speed was scary this season. She usually chills in the back till the last laps. In this race she wanted to kill them, she decided to lead from the front just to punish them.

      @reenateekasingh9684 Před 3 lety +7

      It was remarkable but no one can say maternity kept her from winning. Even though she was beaten by more than 3 seconds, it was her PB; faster than before she became a mother. That fact that Hassan did not languish at the back for most of the race like she always does meant this was going to be a fast race and the results for the top 7 showed it. When Hassan went to the front early I could read the thoughts of the other runners which, to sum it up, must have been "Oh Crap! Not this early!"

    • @reenateekasingh9684
      @reenateekasingh9684 Před 3 lety +7

      No, because she always runs at the back (for whatever reason) even though she can maintain a high speed for a long distance. First time i see her run to her strengths. They'd have to out last her at that high pace and none of them have more stamina than she has (this lady runs from 800m to half marathon). Hassan is one of the most underrated athletes today.

    • @wastedcentury1805
      @wastedcentury1805 Před 2 lety +1

      I fully expected this tactic. Several of us were predicting Hassan's strategy on the running forum Letsrun.com. Kipyegon was not in ideal shape after maternity leave. The best way for Hassan to take advantage was to push early and run a final time that Kipyegon was not capable of in 2019. However, Hassan erred badly in repeating the tactic in the Tokyo Olympics. Kipyegon was now in top condition and she always defeats Hassan stride for stride when both are at their best. Hassan should have played cat and mouse and hoped to get the jump on Kipyegon late. I doubt it would have worked but the tactic she chose was essentially a concession.

I’ve invested big on Amazon and Tesla over a decade ago when they very low compare to what they’re now. That gamble paid off for me so much. I’m grateful. I’m ice fishing at this very moment listening to the wolves howling in the bitter bone chilling cold (feels like -13°F) in near Kootenai National Forrest, western Montana closer to US/Canada border. All I do is fly on my little airplane, hunt, lift in the gym, and go fishing with my wife. We were in the Florida Keys last month fishing. You would never think I ever ran in my life as I nearly doubled in weight from 122lbs being 6ft 3in to 210lbs. Invest in oil while it’s down. Best wishes.

      Some runners use this technique to give them a chance to "move into" the race. The great Kip Keino was always last over the first 200-400m of a 1500m. He would then cruse around the field into the lead, exactly the way Hassan did.

      She's the greatest athlete in that field. Faith was a multiple times junior cross country champion. U20 WR holder and champion over the 1500m at some point. Made her first Olympics in London at the age of 18, representing KENYA (This is Kenya we're talking about guys). The 2012 race was a dirty one, banned athletes, stripped medals and all. She didn't even make it to the finals. 2013 at 19 years my girl finished 5th in Moscow. 2015 World silver medalist. 2016 Olympic gold at only 22. 2017 World Champion. 2019 silver after being out since she did the 2017 WC. Respect gurl. Respect 👑
      And she's just turned 26. If she ever gets serious with 5k, Obiri will have to move to 10k or something. Like she left the 1500m. Not hating on Obiri, she's great but this small lady is lethal on track.

    Jennie Meadows said the first 4 times were all national records but then Muir was very close to her NR and Deceus-Stafford of Canada in 6th also had a huge NR by almost 4 seconds. This was just such a fast race because of Hussan who was willing to make it fast. A tremendous race.

      Me too. Faith Kipyegon is consistent and just awesome. People always undermine her. She got injured before she crossed the line here, still managed 3.54.22. And that ladies and gentlemen, after being out since the 2017 WC, for maternity leave. She only started training early 2019. 2x Olympic Champion?Can't wait

    EXCELLENT!!!! strategy. Hassan! 👍👏👏👏👏👏
    Yes, u hv the STAMINA to run n win the 5,000m n 10,000m, so in the 1,500m u NEED!!! To run FAST!!!, FULLY STRETCHING ur STAMINA CAPACITY! The other runners' strategy was to run PACED, so that they can settle into their run comfortably, To ready themselves For the final sprint run. So, by ur FAST, STAMINA STRETCHING run, u gv the other runners NO CHANCE of being in the settling (comfort) zone during their paced run.
    Kudos to ur trainer n mentor For helping u To come up with this strategy. 👍👏👏👏👏

    • @malcolmalves2156
      @malcolmalves2156 Před 3 lety

      Exactly. I"ve watched her earlier races over the years where she came in second or third and wondered why on earth was she running at their speed and have them out-kick her at the end? With her stamina she should set the high-speed pace and let them try staying with her. What she did in this 1500m finals is what she should have done earlier. I've never seen a female athlete with such stamina. I still think she should gun for the 800m record. She can sprint two laps. I watched her in 3k and 5k races. She just cruises with them until the final 800m then she goes into her high-speed cruise and they begin dropping like flies. Nobody has her stamina. She drives me crazy running at the very back in all her first laps. Looking forward to her dominating the Olympics, whenever that may be.
