    Well said. I believe you are 100% right. As Christians we need to focus on the Word of God itself... Not so much on the vessel in which it is delivered.

      Tony Evans is telling a half truths… He’s not telling the whole story… That is disrespecting his supporters and congregants… Don’t worry, he will get away with it because his followers love the Bread & Circus, and they will make no demands on their leaders… Christians get the leaders they deserve. And they get the leaders whose behavior and secrecy they will tolerate.

    You are the first person that I have heard say it is none of our business to know the specific sin committed. Dr Evans already confessed to God and is on his way to recovery. People sin is sin, repent, recovery and keep moving forward.

      Sorry, that's not what the Bible says, "Confess your sins one to another that you might be healed" Also, in 1 Corit.5, there was the incident of the brother who had egregiously and Paul instructed the church to not fellowship with him. You would know these references if you ever read the Bible. Now, you idiots are agreeing with a person with a backslidden moniker.

This is why people dont want church. This stuff is of the world. I can get sin anywhere. The loyalty of someone i can trust to bring the word of God to me is priceless

    I'm sorry to hear that, I pray that he asked for forgiveness and continue his walk with Lord. The devil want us all to fall and not get back up. The song we fall down, but we get up. For a saint is just a sinner who felt down and got up. Thank God for His love.

    I agree 💯 that “celebrity pastor culture” has, mainly through social media, become extremely out of hand.
    I doubt those who think Dr Evans owes the public specific details of his sin can be considered true and functioning members of “the church.” His confession was to God and elders, which is as far as it needed to go. His public announcement, however, is appreciated by true Christians who remain steadfast in prayer for him, his ministry, and his family.

    • @davem39
      @davem39 Před 2 měsíci

      He needs to publicly confess that sin bc he publicly preached and his ministry was WORLD WIDE!!! And it’s bc of these non biblical confessions of sin why I continue to stay away from most of these large ministries. They sound good but they’re far from biblical and godly!

    Why not just retire and not make a public announcement? It's really between him and his inner circle. I don't think that the church was ever meant to be a world wide congregation. He needs to confess his sin to his immediate support group. It is no one else's business.

    @ParticularBaptist Před 2 měsíci +1

    It's called church discipline, "Tell it to the church". The sin shouldn't be hidden it should be revealed to the congregation, and the elders should hold Tony Evans accountable. The point of church discipline is to constrain the sin of the congregation and to hopefully bring Tony Evans to repentance.

    Temporarily stepping down to restore
    It seems pretty clear he has been going through a season for several years. He is a powerful man of God's Kingdom. I've never thought of him as a celebrity (?). He knows the Word as is committed to Jesus. He owes no one anything. If 50 years of service doesn't illustrate his devotion to his community and God's Kingdom message then we're judging without righteous judgment or grace.

    I agree. But only if he is stepping down. The idea of stepping away, getting unaccountable restoration for something the flock has know knowledge of, seems nuts. If he steps down and remains out of his office, let it be. None of our business. While I agree that a preacher is not a pastor/overseer necessarily, these lines get blurred in this faulty modern “church” system. If pastors just pastor their flock and don’t seek to expand their preaching and teaching to the four winds, then fine. But that isn’t what is happening. The whole point of this, and the scripture that addresses it, is to protect the body… the flock… the sheep! Not the pastor/preacher/teacher/author/influemcer. Lack of transparency when claiming these roles leads to confusion, disunity, speculation, or apathy when it comes to sin and leadership. We don’t want the sheep walking around aimlessly in the field wondering what is going on.
    Strength, integrity, accountability, transparency is what is required. Yes, the system is faulty and definitions of offices are murky. But sadly this is the system Tony Evans worked in. I love him. I pray for him. He’s gonna be ok in Jesus’ name. But his calling came with a next level requirement and cost.

I try to be led of God who to listen to. You can’t listen to everyone. It’s too many. And I’m not call to listen to “everyone” because God didn’t call everyone. Whatever it is, I choose to forgive!

    How do you step away from celebrity Pastoring? What is a Pastor to do when the ministry & congregation grows into the thousands. Are they to refuse and abandon them because of the number of people the Word of God draws to the church? I honestly just want clarification.

      Hello! This is a good question! We will talk about how to stop being or not be a celebrity pastor in a future episode. In short, Break off and start other communities. And God draws people to himself not pastors and “churches”.

    • @MahoganyBelle
      @MahoganyBelle Před 2 měsíci

      @@churchdropoutI believe we can worship & spend time with God anywhere; however, I do believe he gives us wisdom & guidance on where to fellowship, for instance, when becoming a member of a church. I also believe the church is the body of Christ regardless of the structure and that “God’s Word” draws us to that place, wherever it may be. God uses Pastors and others as vessels to deliver His Word whether to a few or to the masses and it’s the Spirit of God that draws people wherever that message is being delivered and it’s our responsibility to be obedient and follow that direction, wherever that place or “church“ may be. Thanks for your response and I’m looking forward to the video.

    • @rodjjt7742
      @rodjjt7742 Před 2 měsíci

      @churchdropout at my old church, everything was about a new building the pastor wanted. It turned into nearly every sermon being about that building. Scripture was twisted to fit what he wanted to say about how we needed to finance the building.
      Things were going better where we are now. At least until, for some reason, our pastor got elevated to the title of Bishop. I grew up Baptist, so we didn't have Bishops, but my understanding is that in some denominations like catholicism or the AME church, a Bishop oversees a diocese that contains several churches. Our church is a non-denominational church, and it's only one church. There aren't any satellite churches or anything. It's a bishop of one church, which just doesn't make sense to me.
      I can't get a satisfactory explanation of it from anyone either. It's been implied that since the church streams online and people watch it around the world, then it's a global ministry. I might have let that go, but I still don't get why the title of Bishop was necessary.
      They kept making statements like if he, our pastor, is elevated to Bishop, then we will also be elevated and receive more blessings. I can't really find how that's backed by Scripture. This has bothered me for months, and what also bothers me is that it feels like I'm the only one who thinks any of this is weird. Everyone else just claps, laughs, and accepts it. He even said the other day that a Bishop's role is to be the intermediary between the church and government. That is something I've never heard.
      I hate how it seems no one questions anything, and if you do, it's like you're the problem. I think I typed more than I intended to. I think I needed to let it all out. Sorry for the info dump, but I appreciate you asking. I stumbled on your channel, but I'll check out your other stuff.

    • @churchdropout
      @churchdropout  Před 2 měsíci

      That's crazy but common. The building fund. OMG. So much to say on this. You can’t question anything, and when you do, you're the problem. That's concerning. Much of what you mentioned is not biblical. The hierarchy with bishops, mediator talk, etc., is nothing I've seen in scripture. You’re probably not the only one. It’s sounds like an environment where people are reluctant to speak about it. I understand why you are concerned. Truthfully, I would be as well. Doesn’t seem healthy.
