😂😂 that was me back then thing is we did fix that APU it had a clogged fuel nozzle and everyone teach us how to start up that’s why you see kind of struggle but man we were students back then and some other students knew better and they teach us we were a family and help each other out
1. Why do you keep presssed start switch, it is only necessary while starting engines with engine start valves. 2. You shouldn’t connect APU GEN, unless you have checked the voltages and frequencies. Because this aircraft doesn’t warn you in case of any problem in electrical power.
Nope, FCTM states it has to be for greater than 1 second but even two seconds is fine. This guy REALLY wanted to make sure the APU started lol it won't hurt anything if you hold it to start, same as on the 737 NG series bro
You hold it(momentary switch) down until you reach 20% and immediately after you'd see a rise in EGT which indicates ignition and a running state then you can release the (momentary)switch. If you hold it for say 2 seconds, the starter/generator will not spool up sufficiently to compress air and start the unit, it takes about 10 seconds or so of compression but you rely on the rpm and egt gauges instead of counting time.
This was on a A&P school students don’t know at the time how that plane worked and just a few teachers and students knew but hey you know you need to start from somewhere
the guy sitting in the left seat has no clue what he is doing . The guy holding the camera is telling him where the switches are and what to do with them.

Once in a while, when I feel down I come back to this video and watch it from 2:12. The vibes are just free therapy for my soul.
This video clearly shows they do not know this aircraft at all.....
This was a A&P school of course they didn’t knew about it lol 😂
I was the same way 41 years ago.
lol i like how you pronounce it the way it looks as a word "Apoo"
Estos bori son tremendo 👍🙏
I so love watching these old birds. This one feels like a real-life Gundam. God bless

American MD80 N428AA
Do you have to hold the Start switch down during APU start, or just at the beginning for a second or 2?

Jesus christ, let go of the fucking switch!
Prami shit
