Hello sir so I tried this on a older version to make sure that it works before I did it on my brand new one and in the old one is asked for a Apple ID is that still the same for the newer versions of the iPad with the Touch ID?

Hi, I followed all the steps. However, during the downloading of ipad software update, it show, "The itunes cannot connect to the ipad. An unknown error occur 0xe8000015". Then, the download stopped. Try for few times. It still the same. PLEASE HELP ME!
Hmm let me know how you are trying to do the update Over the air or via usb cable and itunes?

try unplugging all other usb devices then try again. I had the same issue until i unplugged my phone from the usb port i was using to charge it.

Hey so I think my ipad is not disabled but it's clearly broken I accidently locked the rotation and not turned it off my ipad is broken bc it wouldnt click a few letters and I cannot click the other letters for my password bc I locked my rotation in landscape position it only clicks all letters when its portrait what do I do help...

I have an iPad 2 that was glitching, it went into voiceover, flipped some screens and somehow changed the PIN. I don't have it synced with my computer (although I do have an iCloud backup from an old computer so I downloaded iTunes.) Of course it doesn't allow the sync because it is locked with a new PIn - I'm just trying to factory reset. Any suggestions besides buying a new iPad (that was a co-worker suggestion)
Factory reset might be the only option or you could try calling Apple and prove your the owner?
It turns out that it was an issue navigating the voice over screen prompts. While it looked like I was entering the correct pass code with the triple taps, there needed to be a pause after the first tap before double-tapping the numbers. I really wish there was a way to keep this feature permanently disabled. Thank you for the response!

Does not work for me! Brand new iPad. My wife forgets her passcode. We try several passwords and they don't work. We plug in iPad to iMac and go through all the steps. Then get a warning that iTunes needs to be updated. We try to update iTunes and get a warning flag. We update computer and get a warning flag. My iMac will NOT allow us to reset out new iPad passcode :-(
