      I think the refs were checking for a penalty! I thought there should have been one at first, but on closer inspection it was a clean hit even though the helmet came loose.

      I was at this game, with the band. The TV producers have to level out the crowd volume so that you can hear the announcers talk, and let me tell you, they must have had to turn those sliders all the way down on this one. It was deafening in that stadium for the next five minutes.

    I think a part of this that gets overlooked is the fact that Clowney was almost falling forward has he was getting ready to make the hit. It’s incredible how he was still able to steer his body into the ballcarrier! This most definitely added to his momentum which is why he almost killed that running back lol!

    I remember watching this live, picking up food at a wing place in the heart of Ohio State territory. I just happened to be waiting right in front of the TV when this hit happened and that place exploded like the buckeyes won a national championship

    I was always so focused on the hit I never noticed that Clowney got through untouched otherwise that play probably wouldn't have happened. And that's the play that put him on the map to be drafted by the Texans who obviously no longer have a need for him

    What makes this hit so amazing and what made it so wonderful at the time, was the previous play that gave UM the first down. The refs had to bring the chains to measure, but absolutely botched the call. The camera clearly showed the runner was short but the refs somehow gave them the first down and directly in front of the SC sideline. It pissed them off. Took the energy out of the crowd. Everyone was just shocked.
    And then Clowney happened
