I never knew the context of that play for a long time. What made that hit and fumble so sweet was the fact the previous play was one of the most blatantly corrupt officiating calls I've ever seen in giving Michigan a first down. Clowney just lined up and said, "fine, I'll get it back myself."
@@haroldfarquad6886 I watched that game live when it happened. I had no horse in the race but after what the refs did to SC i was hyped af when Clowney made that play.
@@macabree5856 that Taylor mays hit was definitely huge. I think the thing that solidifies clowneys hit as hardest to me is that he’s hitting through the RBs midsection. That’s hard af to hit someone so hard in the center of their mass and demolish them like that. A lot of hits like the Wisconsin/Nebraska crack back, that Taylor mays hit etc is they’re up high and the dude getting hit just slingshots backwards. Plus clowneys listed at 274 in college that’s a shit ton of force going full speed through someone 😂 another hit I love in the nfl is when Reggie bush gets destroyed on a swing pass vs the eagles. Can’t remember the eagles defender who hit him but he blew bush up
They are and I think its because of the major differences in skill level. You've got newbs from psychology class vs top NFL prospects playing football. A little bit of an exaggeration, but you get my point..
Commenting because this is such a good video. All truly big hits I haven't seen 10 times in other videos before, good quality, well edited, nice replays, no annoying music or ads. ☺☺☺☺
Mixture of adrenaline and showmanship like trying to make it seem like it didn't hurt. I'm sure a lot of us have bluffed like something didn't hurt knowing damn well that shit hurt like hell lol.
This one I really liked! This hard hitting was what I was taught during JR Highschool '79-'81. I was small but, I saw smaller guys in the NFL make big hits so I decided I could do it too. I would launch myself at guys twice my body weight and take them down, that's football! I was a Chiefs fan but, the Raiders had a smaller defensive guy named Ronnie Lott that I tried to base myself on. He ended up joining the Chiefs and broke his leg during preseason and never played an actual game for us but, he was my favorite defensive player, he flat out laid the wood to people!
If you thought Ronnie Lott was a good hitter, you woulda loved watching this junior high school kid Tommy Chew tackle players. This boy was sendin'm to the ER on the reg. We called him... "the ambulance whisperer" because one would have to show up every game. i don't know whatever happened to that boy. Probably ended up in prison. He just loved to hurt people.
Everyone who played an actual career of this style, now has CTE and horrific mood issues and suicide or memory loss is a serious concern. You're lucky you were a scrub that could only play football for a couple years in high school, or you wouldn't be glorifying this kind of hitting. Destroys mens brains and their ability to be a normal father and family member after a career of playing like this. Rob Gronkowski isn't even 40 yet and he's basically a vegetable
@@turkey4957 Guess I'm just old school, I joined the Marine Corps, and my mentality helped me to be able to push myself harder and do things most wouldn't even attempt. There is a need for all outlooks, the ones that won't put themselves out there and the ones that will. Brains fine and I raised four kids. Now when we played tackle football with no pads during pick your choice PT I did ease up.
“Boom! That’s football” 😂😂😂 dude on the ground someone’s son fresh outta high school just gasping for air with 5 cracked ribs piercing his lungs hahahahaha
CTE is no joke. The NFL should invest a billion into CTE proof helmets to protect investments. These young kids are getting stronger and stronger and hit hard AF.
Definitely should include Nigel Bradham (FSU) hit against LaRon Byrd (Miami). Originally called targeting because it looked so brutal, but was later retracted by the officials head office post-game. Nasty, but clean hit.
There was a time when I was much younger that I would have thought this was awesome. Now I can't imagine thinking these kinds of hits were ever entertaining.
"D.J. Swearinger hitting Andre Ellington" I watch a lot of NFL but not a lot of college football so it's always surreal to see clips of players of people who went on to have full NFL careers squaring off against each other
This is the way footballs should be played!!!!! Defense means don't take a risk or you can get the pain. Today's game is all about offense. They are not scared to come down the middle because they know they'll get the distance and the penalty. F that! Light em up I say!
NO HIT here can possibly top the CLOWNEY trainwreck! The two hits that supposedly top it are both on Quarterbacks and the defensive guys have running starts to just tee off. Clowney has NO running start, he just explodes off the line. He not only dislocates the RB from his helmet but forces the fumble AND recovers it. Plus it was a crucial play in a big bowl game that literally happened right after South Carolina had clearly stopped Michigan on a 4th down. The chains came out and the nose of the ball was nowhere near the 1st down but the ref gave it to Michigan anyway, although it was shown clearly on TV. So it was an incredible hit that was also a game-changing and game-winning play.
1:10 gotta respect the qb. Huge hit, get's up and almost makes the tackle despite probably seeing double.
Yes indeed
one tough MF
Came here to say this. He has earned my respect.
Literally came straight to the comments after seeing that lol
im genuinely mind blown
“YOU GOT BBQ BACK THERE? AND DIDNT INVITE ME?! HURT MA FEELINGS!”😂😂😂☠️
one of the greatest commentator quotes 😂
Iconic. Gus Johnson is the man.
“Looks like he was shot with a elephant gun” on the first one 😂
eric collins the goat. Charlotte legend
They allow them to hit shoulder to chest.
That hit on Cam Rising was brutal to see in-person. The whole stadium exploded when that hit happened.
Hell yeah, SUU!
Yeah I was there aswell
That hit was crazy for sure.
we still won tho
The play by Clowney against Michigan might be the greatest defensive play I’ve ever seen.
Right?? He was like a second away from just taking the handoff directly from the qb
Single play he’s living off of. Hasn’t lived up to the hype in NFL.
100% agree

I saw that final hit on Rising in person, heard it from 70 yards away. That man is a warrior, came up laughing about it. Gotta love football.
Cam Rising's long flowing locks makes that something else.
He deserved to get laid out just for havin that hairdo tbh
@@GORILLA_PIMP that hairdo went on to demolish the southern crybabies afterwards
1:13 announcer says "You don't want that smoke" and then the VT qb gets absolutely drilled
He's in tune with the culture
That first one never fails to crack me up.
"OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!"
These hits hurt more than stubbing my toe 💀
That clowney hit will always rain supreme as the hardest in cfb. Something ridiculous would have to happen to top that

Even better with the first down fiasco that happened right before the hit

Clowneys tackle gets me every time, damn 😮
these hits seem more brutal than the nfl, and there are no penalties! crazy...

This is over years span though, you could make the same video with NFL hits x100

It is college kids... of course, the hits are more brutal compared to the NFL. Collage pride is on the line!
There were plenty of penalties on those hits, but the way this video is edited, glorifies the hit instead of chastising it.
5:25 might be the scariest hit on a kicker ever

College hits are fucking brutal. All of the strength of nfl players but without the form blocking/tackling is a crazy combo
Looking at brock purdy take that hit like a champ 6:24 now look at him on the road to e super bowl rookie year so inspirational
now hes in the super bowl.
That Utah quarterback pac 12 championship hit was crazy watching live.
Imagine celebrating after laying out a dude that isn't looking at you 😂
Great video. Well done.
Wow, Really Surprised about this video, congrats on making a great video
Im kinda surprised that some of them manage to immediately get back up after taking these hits

There’s a reuben foster kickoff tackle that was huge too
Crazy at 5:20 that blindside block would be so taboo today but the announcers are calling a dude getting killed a football play back then
1:14-He don’t want that smoke
“Oh what a hit”😂😂😂
Love it. Talk about getting your sinuses cleared.
These hits are on point by the defense. Goodness

College football has brutal hits compared to NFL
They let the boys play down there. NFL has to protect its investments lol.
Because most watch their blind spots. College is more inexperienced
Back before they changed up the rules high school football practice used to be crazy 😂
No way bro
College players are tryna make it big, nfl players tryna last and roll in doe
