      As I said in the video, not all gacha games are the same. Some are better than others.
      My counterargument for Arknights is their terrible enemy stats UI, which is helped by the upcoming changes in CN server, but they didn't replace the dubious A-D rating for enemy stats.

Your character just can't die in 99.9% of cases.

    Hot take: Yes I play Genshin, Yes I play HSR, And yes I have played many other games from the genre, but I honestly think Gacha games as a whole should never have existed. To me, it is like a sign on the game saying "We just want your money. We don't care." And usually means there is no passion or care. It's why I like Genshin and HSR, they have a LOT of passion put in from the devs and you can tell, but even then, the games I mentioned and other ones I tried look like obvious cash-grabs. (Not saying that they all they are, but I can still see it.) Sorry for the negativity, but it has been really bugging me for a while...

    • @FeyHunt
      @FeyHunt  Před rokem +1

      I do agree with this sentiment, and a lot of players share that sentiment, wishing that their favorite gacha game was never a gacha game. And the boredom you get from daily grinding is gritting to say the least.
      Genshin would be a much better game if you streamlined the artifact system and character progression, add more challenge, then some more actual quests, and make it a full 60$ game like Breath of the Wild.
      The only solid argument for gacha games right now is that it's a platform for endless storytelling. You can sell each update as a DLC pack, but finance wouldn't be as fluid as a true gacha game.
      But the counterargument is that even with those increasing hundreds of millions of dollars of income, the game doesn't become better at the same rate.
      That is why I respected Hypergryph, Arknights developer for trying to make a single player game even after the success of Arknights.

      I agree, but that the passion is funneled to specific things. I've played Genshin and HSR as well (and others but mainly focusing on those 2), and I can never complain about the scenery, the character designs, or soundtracks. They're beautiful! They really know what they're doing with those. It's very clear they respect the areas they take inspiration from and I love it. But when it comes to game design like the artifact system, or combat difficulty design, they are very obviously struggling. They have their elemental system and they've been clearly stuck with where to go from there to create a different combat experience.

      @FeyHunt  Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@bunn228 Exactly. I LOVE everything those artist done to the game. It is amazing.
      Well, my only complain for them is just that they have some back and shoulder fetish for female characters, but that's a whole different topic 😂😂
      The gameplay and story are the ones where they suffer the most. I do believe that Genshin's elemental system has outstay its welcome. It doesn't feel as good as when I played them.
      But maybe that's just my preference. I don't like pure numbers game in my RPG, which is what 99% of elemental system is all about.

    • @MrGamelover23
      @MrGamelover23 Před 9 měsíci

      @@FeyHuntThe elemental system is only a pure numbers game if you're trying to 36 star the spiral abyss. The elemental system as a whole was honestly brilliant and created a really unique combat experience to this day. And they're hardly suffering in the story department because of the exception of Inazuma, they manage to somehow keep outdoing themselves every region. We didn't think that things could get any better after Sumeru, but then Fontaine came and blew us all away. Go check out some playthroughs of the recent quests if you don't play it, it's honestly insane.
      I wish the game had been made fully in advance first, but on the other hand, I never would have touched it unless it was free on the epic game store. If a game manages to get 60 million active players, I'll give it a pass on its predatory nature.

    Great video but gonna have to disagree with 4:06, I think you meant hoyoverse not adding endgame content in the game. I dont think anyone complained for the difficult endgame content, here is probably why Hoyoverse didnt add any -
    Thee mentioned how it would give some players anxiety, and it is true, IF that content gave primo rewards. You call easy content players normies but unlike the sweaty players we dont have time. I work 10 hours job I dont have time to farm primos in a difficult event. Hell I dont even bother with spiral abyss. That feeling sucks, the feeling when u can get 600 primos just for clearing it but dont have time and energy to do so.
    Now why doesnt hoyoverse just add it without rewards? because the sweaty player base is too low, no one avg player will bother playing it because there are no rewards. That makes it like 10-20% of players who are gonna enjoy that. Also there will be no point in adding a gamemode without rewards, because then people will stop playing it after a month or 2 which is not profitable for the company.
    TLDR - Rewards for endgame will make avg player base left out but if they don't give rewards for endgame no one will bother to play it after a month

    • @FeyHunt
      @FeyHunt  Před rokem +2

      Here's my counterargument: Make the new endgame content permanent, no FOMO expiration date limit. So okay, you can't beat it now, but you can build up your characters to eventually beat that endgame. Except this time around, the skill requirement is so high that even with fully stacked up characters, you actually still need to think very carefully. I think many players would love that, an increase to skill ceiling.
      When you have played Genshin for 2+ years, there's no more organic challenge in Genshin. You never ever in threat of failing a challenge even against the hardest weekly boss in the game. Spiral Abyss is just an artificial challenge, which have to rely on time limit as a DPS check. Of course, I don't speak for all players, but I really enjoyed that Sekiro parry event for this reason.

    • @Zetsubou-69420
      @Zetsubou-69420 Před rokem +1

      @@FeyHunt it's not about beating it, it's about the rewards. I think most people will be fine if they add permanent endgame content. The problem is even if its permanent there are going to people who will never be able to beat it. And then there is the problem where people will finish the permanent event day one and complain about endgame again. But if they cycle the endgame then it's the same problem as abyss again, people will be forced to do it just so they can get pulls.
      A lot of people will love that event and the sekiro event was great too but it will get boring in a month for most people.
      I love difficult games as well and I think harder difficulty is really fun. But honestly if I am being forced to do it every 2 weeks just so I can get some pulls for a character I would hate doing it.
      Again if they add one without rewards it would be great but a lot of people will get bored after a while and ask for a new one.
      If I had to take an example I think Simulated universe in HSR is an amazing permanent event. And they are even adding updates to it. The problem with that is something like that doesn't fix the problem for genshin. Because it's not difficult, it's just fun to play. And even if it has rewards and it might be hard for people to farm it every week, the advantage HSR has over genshin is auto play. I can literally farm while I am working which means I am not really missing out on anything

    • @FeyHunt
      @FeyHunt  Před rokem +1

      @@Zetsubou-69420 We can't take into account players who beat every event or new expansion day 1. It's just not viable for even the fastest and greatest gamedev company.
      I was proposing a full permanent content with a fixed end. It's so challenging that even the hardcore players will be unable to beat the last 10% without some solid strategy. When you finish that content, that's it. No more rewards. No weekly rotation stuff. You're done. No FOMO.
      Maybe 6 months later Hoyoverse will add a similar event that you can beat AFTER you beat the first version. And it keeps adding up.
      Let's say that it's a harder version of roguelike Simulated Universe, with an end boss that is hard to beat.
      You will have a good reason to build a proper team, to grind those artifacts autoplay, because in your mind, you know that you want to some day beat that final level. That's a good motivation to keep playing, no?

      @Zetsubou-69420 Před rokem +2

      It is good motivation for some people maybe. Not for me but I don't come under the average playerbase anyway. I build niche characters so I can probably never beat it but yeah it would be fun. Hope they add something like this.

    Sometimes it's not the developer but the publisher who does the survey so there's limit to how much they could do as a publisher. One of the example is FGO, which is a Japanese gacha game. They usually do a yearly survey on the JP server which didn't extend to global, while releasing their response to playerbase request usually on the anniversary. Sometimes they said might implement in the future, sometimes they just reject the idea upfront. Meanwhile if you play on Global, all of the survey is employed by Aniplex.
