My grandson and I just did a build like your mini-itx today, we had fewer issues than you guys, no rubbing it in. Great to see Gordon again!

14:00 - I have an old production system running in an Antec P180 case downstairs. It weighs over 30 pounds empty. It’s still considered a mid-tower. I had a black full-tower case back in the Nineties that we dubbed The Monolith. That was not a machine that you moved around when it was stuffed to the gills with SCSI drives and expansion cards.

Grats on the builds guys. Very entertaining.
Murphy's Law . always something will go wrong during a build. But just work through it.

@3:12:00 I also had a similar conclusion when i did my SFF build. Even though i did research, i still made some sub-optimal choices which were not easily to tell just from spec sheets, etc.
Although i really like my SFF build, I think I will not go smaller than MATX in future...

@1:06:00 I really will not ever use an AIO or water cooling. I value functionality, ease of use, and reliability above aesthetics and, unless you're going for something like a recent i9 from Intel, you don't need the effective cooling of a liquid cooler.
Modern air coolers are getting so good, you don't even need a huge heatsink which covers the RAM slots.
This extends to building for others, too. Anyone who is not that tech savvy isn't going to notice a pump failure. It's just another point of failure that doesn't need to be in the system...
[Edit] And it's funny later watching both "teams" struggling to fit their radiators. LOL!

Holy crap, it was like a reboot of the Verge building a computer. ;) Where's Alaina when you need her??

17:12 Hilarious to put a 420mm AIO on an i5? I had a 480mmx60mm radiator with 8 fans in push pull on a i5-4460 non K. Beat that one!

Gordon was really after that Disney sponsorship. "The fans were sucking and blowing"

I will never understand why people are so obsessed with SFF. Yes, it's nice and small, like in this case it was mentioned to be in a small apartment which is fair enough. But what's wrong with getting a small stool and putting a micro ATX mid tower on the stool under the desk? You can't tell me the desk is human height and too low to the point where a mid-tower won't fit. You could've spent 40% less, use pretty much whatever part you want and not have to cramp your hands and risk damaging things trying to fit things in. That's why people hate on SFF. You're paying more for inconvenience. You're paying more to limit yourself to what parts you can use. You're paying more to limit yourself to a noisier system. You're paying more to limit yourself to a less reliable system. And for what benefit? Yay it's small, big woop it still takes up literally the same footprint as a mid-tower would! And in a lot of cases the footprint is more because SFF usually is designed for low height not low length. You're paying more for tons of downsides and the only good side you're technically not actually achieving because the footprint is larger.

LTT screwdriver cant break down to get into a smaller space and it was designed for PC work? Literally makes you buy another screwdriver because of their own design oversight? That is wild but very on brand for LTT
