1. They have the best physical trainer in pintus who has conditioned players to go for long hours enduring barrage after barrage without losing focus.
2. They restricted foden, rodri from shooting in their most efficient spaces.
3. Kept Bernardo ineffective by making city psychologically aware that vini will always be present on their right flank. If walker had made runs to the front Bernardo could have had some efficiency upfront. Mandy kept him in check.
4. If they had squad depth they could have snatched the win in extra time. But they lacked the squad depth for that. They created clear cut chances in extra time.

The Madrid city game was like when you play fifa with your friend that sucks but there computer defense and goalkeeper decide to play the game of there lives saving. Like 23 shots and then you lose on penalties
TBH I think the game unfolded just as Carlo wanted it to 😂if you noticed towards the end all the Man City players were looking visibly frustrated and angry and all the Real Madrid players looked surprisingly calm and collected and cool they wanted it to go to pens because they knew Real Madrid would win and that's exactly what happened

The two times City took the lead it didn't last more than 10 minutes before Madrid turned it around.

I'll casually mention that Tomas Tuchel managed 3 of the 4 teams in the semis in the past 7 years, which is kinda crazy to think about.

As someone who follows more football than just the Premier League I knew that it was very unlikely that Arsenal would just steamroll over Bayern. Arsenal look great against weaker opposition, but they struggle immensely against teams that are tough and compact, as seen in the previous CL round against Porto. And as you said yourself, they always seem to bottle it late in the season.
That Arsenal squad also has zero experience when it comes to winning tough knockout matches. Bayern, on the other hand, has players who won a world cup and at least one UCL, some even two. That kind of experience and winning mentality is not something you can just ignore - it's the same as with Real. In addition to the fact that both teams have top10 squads in Europe, of course. And speaking about the matchups, it's also interesting to know that if Barca had beaten PSG the four teams in the semi-finals would have been the exact same ones as 2013 where Bayern and Dortmund went to the final - which was also held at Wembley.
It also would have been great to at least touch on the subject of tactical tweaks Tuchel made to keep Arsenal in check. He had two left wing-backs on the pitch to neutralize Saka and he put Laimer on guard duty for Ödegaard, both of which worked very well.
The "farmer's league" term is something uneducated people say and I would even go as far as to say the that the majority of the Premier League is very overrated. Man City are the real deal but they aren't as good as last season, Arsenal is a very good and aspiring team but only being good is not enough to make it all the way. And Liverpool is basically re-inventing themselves but they are not as good as they used to be.
When you look at what happened to English clubs over the past two days there is a clear pattern - City was unlucky and got dropped out of the UCL against Real, Bayern deservedly knocked out Arsenal, Liverpool got knocked out of the EL against Atalanta Bergamo in a bad way and West Ham got knocked out by the new German champs Leverkusen.

@@tomas.lambert Why? Ligue 1 is a good league and we all know that France has probably the deepest talent pool in Europe. The only problem France has is PSG - it's one team that dominates. In England there are multiple teams like PSG, but does that make it better? Yes, the competition at the top is a bit more interesting (I am saying that knowing that Man City has won like 4 out of the last 5 titles), but the gap between the top clubs and the others is absolutely massive as well.
@@MrReese the thing is that apart from PSG, they underperform in European competitions. Yes, Marseille is doing good in europa league, but it’s an outlier rather than the norm (and it’s europa league)
@@tomas.lambert I believe many French clubs suffer a lot from the failed broadcasting deal that was supposed to give them a good amount of money but it failed and they had to settle for a lot less. While the EPL broadcasting deal is of course by far the most lucrative, the deals for the Bundesliga and LaLiga are also quite good. The Ligue 1 deal is a lot lot less. According to wiki this is how much money each team gets from their respective deals:
Premier League: £81,600,000 (so roughly 85m EUR)
La Liga: €49,500,000
Serie A: €46,375,000
Bundesliga: €29,972,222
Ligue 1: €15,315,789
The valuea for the Germany and France are also lower because the deals apparently are for 1st and 2nd division clubs as opposed to only the top division like in the other countries.

Suffice to say that Ligue 1 has a lot less money because their broadcasting deal fell through and they had to settle for less. This does not hurt PSG with an basically indefinite amount of money, but it hurts every other team in the league very badly.

It was a masterclass defending performance by Bayern. If you watched the whole match you could see how perfectly Laimer played on Oedegard, Goretzka was outmuscling everyone around the box and duo Mazzroui and Guerrero were just DOGS on Saka. Plus Guerrero become what everyone thought Davies would be.
