There is a special place in my heart for black cats.
I have a family of hedgehogs in my garden....I loved this video more than many of them, altho' I like them all.. but this was just full of joy .kittens, roses, Christmas and cake, and the quick wit of Sean.... what more could we ask...

I love that your cats are rescue. Charity shop for near perfect condition only. Anything with visable wear, stained, holy is for the recycling bins.
My mum used to have a tea towel with holes in ,and said can’t throw that away yet as it has a few more laughs in it yet lol
Back in 2002 my daughter's black cat sat on my chest when I came home from work. Samantha saved my life. I went to hospital blood clots 3 months in hospital. I love black cats 👍

Home made mince, for your Christmas pies, is beeyoodiful!, unlike bought mince/pies it isn't overly sweet or spicey.
I soften rehydrate/soften my dried fruit in the slow cooker before it goes in the pies, perfect grub!.
I have been a manager of a few charity shops over the years and if a garment had a hole, or was stained etc. we would just 'rag it' - it would go into the rag pile and that would be collected once a week by a company that recycled the garments, they may sell them in bundles to other countries or they may shred it and reuse the material for carpet underlay or other things. However... if the garment was a high value item then the manager could decide to repair or wash the item. We were putting a minimum 1500 items onto the shop floor a week so we didn't have the time to 'faff' much, any repairs or cleaning of garments would be done in our own time. Most charity shops do have a 'steamer' and the items are 'steam cleaned' by hand, but it will not remove dirt, it will just freshen it up and sterilize it to some degree. I found that men's clothes were always in short supply because once they were warn out, the men would then wear them to do the garden or when doing DIY etc. So, even if you have a few things with holes in, it is worth asking in the charity shop if they take them for rag.

Most charitable shops won't exept clothing unless they are in perfect condition washed and ironed they will check your bag any clothing not suitable will be collected by your local concil in a waterproof bag in the correct box please check whith your local council rules

My Mum as a small child, ended up being given day old chicks instead of coins (just after ww2 in London) by the Rag & bone man. Nan was furious! she ended up staying up all night in front of the fire to keep then alive, the first week nan wasn't sure if they would make it, but they all did. They all turned out to be very good 'layers' saw then through rationing and always gave then some 'currency' ie fresh eggs to barter with.
If you need clothes repairing, (or anything else) see if there is a "repair café" in the area, normally once a month, they should be able to advise / help teach you, how to repair, unless it requires a specialist tool / equipment. You might have to provide say a zip, if the zip needed replacing, etc, but they can usually tell the most economical place to get items for the repair. Most just ask for a donation.
It is worth (imho) getting a second hand sewing machine, then you can do some quick fixes, or make beyond repairable clothes into other stuff, or say get a roll of netting and make bespoke tunnels for your veg etc, or fleece covers for your plants / pots. Literally a million uses....

Wow Sean. I don't normally like murals but whoever painted that blue building with the birds & hedgehog on - they are talented. Just watched your other 3 mknth old clip where you ask people what tea bags to buy to try instead of Yorkshire. That made me smile, as tho I don't drink tea, I noticed the box of Yorkshire tea in yr kitchen in Wales recently. So you are still on the Yorkshire tea now u in South Wales. Amazed u got to yr age & never had a minced pie b 4.
In Ontario, Canada, we have Goodwill that's a huge charity organization with a great selection of garments. Goodwill has a steam tunnel where all the clothes are processed. I would never give a garment to charity with a hole in it. They don't want that sort of thing on the racks. The want garments that still have some life left that another person can enjoy.
Mince pies originally had minced meat and dried fruit in but were heavily spiced. It was a medieval delicacy shaped like the crib and would have a small piece of shaped pasty or a raisin on the lid to represent baby Jesus. Usually served at Christmas.
We wash it and send it all. Our charity shops sort things and what is unreliable gets bundled up and sold by the pound to poor countries or is purchased by companies that shread the material and use the fiber to make things like pillow filler and even denim insulation.
They have to be in good kick
A good thing to take to charity shop is bathroom scales,never weigh yourself,weightless rule no 1,cut out sugar,its lethal.cut all all dairy foods,go gluten free,even if you think you don't need to,reduce meat,eat fish and veg mainlybit of fruit daily vary it ,do these things gradually forming new habits,then you can keep old clothes,wear them till they disappear,you won't need the doctor.
Charity shops sell clean clothes that you don't want any more but anything broken or holey goes in the rag bag & they get literally pennies for a black bag full of rags, always best to put damaged stuff in a separate bag & tell the shop they're for the ragman.
There's no little repair lady & I don't think there ever has been but these days they're hard pushed to find volunteers at all.
Just think of s charity shop as
1. a place people who can't afford to buy new can buy sometimes unworn clothing or something someone else is fed up with wearing
2. a place the more fortunate amongst us can pick up a bargain.
They also love clean bric a brac, books, curtains, bedding etc.
Hubby sold the washing to the rag & bone man when he was a little boy in exchange for a balloon & his Mum had to chase him up the road to get the washing back.

Do not send clothes with the holes, the charities then have to pay for disposal of them. As long as the clothes are not worn dirty then put them in the bag and take them away otherwise the risk of keeping everything you cleared out is high, high, high 🤣🤣
In Australia it's nicer to give items that are in good condition as there is so much stuff these days that they just throw damaged clothes away.
Also it costs the charities money to throw away our unwearables
They are not a bin, nobody fixes holes. Send them as rags and they will be recycled.

I wouldn't donate anything that has a hole, especially the trousers which are so obviously worn through in the crotch. Neither would I donate anything from which stains cannot be removed. Anyway, those are the rules here in Edmonton, Alberta. Canada. I go my particular rule of thumb...if it's too worn out or damaged for me to want to wear it, why would I expect others to want to wear the item. It is kind of you to be going through your clothes and figuring out what you can donate. Well done you. Fondly, Dorothy.
