Here on my channel, I am renovating a 250 year old stone cottage on my property in Normandy, France. By using traditional, low-waste and off-grid methods, I'm aiming to keep the charm and character of this old building, and turn it into a furnished, finished home for family whilst keeping environmental impact as low as possible. There will also be content on living in France, visiting beautiful rural places, hunting for antiques, gardening and more! Hit subscribe if you would like to keep up with my journey, and hit the notification bell to be alerted when we go LIVE where we have a first viewing of the video as it is published with a live chat so I can answer all your questions! See you in Sean's World.

We made our young children a large willow fort. We first put the willow branches we cut in bundles tied with jute rope into our pond to grow roots. We tied the rope to stakes by the side of the pond to easily retrieve them out of the pond. It took a very short time for the roots to grow. We arched the largest branches to form a dome shape high enough to walk inside and just kept arching, criss crossing and weaving. By spring/summer all of the branches were covered in leaves and the willow fort was beautiful. My kids loved to play inside of this living fort. Years later the branches grew larger and it looked like an intricately woven piece of art in the winter and in the summer a cool, dark fort. We had to trim it every year, but it still exists for my grandchildren. xx

Sean, whenever you need to rest your back, just having cozy videos of you both puttering inside would be comforting and blissful. I love videos of people making tea and just reading a book, sipping tea, etc.; like quietly hanging out with a friend. Things don't always have to happen. We don't want you straining your back just because it is time to get a video made. I hope your back feels better soon. A history of the native stones would be a fun cold day chat.

You can do this with willows for sure. I have seen people soak them in buckets of water to establish roots first, then save the water for rooting rose cuttings. The willow produces the chemical for rooting very well & makes the water contain the chemical.

Sean, that is coming together well. I worked with a doctor whose husband made willow furniture, peacock chairs, tables, dressers etc. The work was exceptional. He was a school bus driver and did that on the side. He retired and did very well from it. The things one can do with Willow are mindblowing. You and Sam and your family will enjoy this for many years. You will have to make a little table to put your cup of tea. You can do high tea in your willow house. Sweet peas growing up or a climbing fragrant vine sounds lovely. You may get an occasional birds nest also. Awesome idea. I am glad you know your limitations with your back. I have learned to be careful with mine as well. My back problems came from my nursing career. Best wishes.❤

make a thatch roof using some of the smaller whips by tying bunches of long grass together and then pushing the wee whips through them, then layer them like tiles for the roof. should be able to get tall dried grasses from the edges of the fields and fence lines. you can use long green grasses too - they will dry in place.

Love this, I'm sure it will grow will is very good, as its packed full if natural growth hormones. Tip, if you cut up twigs into 1inch pieces, boil up in a pan with water, bring to the boil and then allow to cool naturally, drain off the water, you now have your own natural plant growth mix, use it to help your seedlings or veg or even dip your roots to encourage growth when re planting. Tip2. Dip the ends of your wips in honey, this also is a good growth boosted, spinkle a small amount of cinnamon on the top soil to keep off the bugs and fungus. I know you love natural remedies, Sean, so I hope this helps. DE powder for the slugs is a winner, too! For the new veg, you're growing, happy gardening ya all ❤
