That was a helpful lesson. Needless to say, I got the question about 007 correct.
I would say that "by" and "to" are the easiest ones to mix up.
Reg Dwight is known by his stage name.
Elton John is known to many as a great pianist.

Thank you very much for the extremely generous support! Glad you liked the grammar review. I had to look up the moniker Reginald Kenneth Dwight. What a long name! Here's follow-up question.
Was Sean Connery best known by his first name, middle name or stage name?

Good question. I see that "Sean" is his middle name. His first name is Thomas. @@Englishwithjennifer

I think she won me over when she sang the national anthem at the Super Bowl. It was amazing.
I have to admit, I also like "Poker Face." It makes me want to dance, and I giggle when I recall the scene from Percy Jackson that used that song.

    Mam
I have seen like this sentences
    (It is said /thought/allowed/.....that ...).
    But
    Here l want to ask
    This structure
It is thought/allowed/said (to be ) + etc..
    When we use this and
in Which chapter can we study .

    • @Englishwithjennifer
      @Englishwithjennifer  Před 10 měsíci +1

You're talking about a passive structure used to report information. The subject starts with "It."
      It is said that...
      It is rumored that...
I may create an additional lesson to cover this use of the passive. I have other lessons that review the passive in general. Basically, people use these structures to pass along information more or less objectively. It's likely more common in writing (academic writing or the news) because it helps report opinions and observations.

I'll consider making a new lesson on this aspect of the passive. Here's a good explanation from BBC.
