thanks for the transparency throughout this video dude. i enjoyed this format of video it was easy to zone in on some editing while listening in on your thoughts. I heavily related to your statements on community and being a Work-From-Home Freelancer. Imposter Syndrome settles in easily when working from home sometimes. i made a strong effort this year to make new friends in the filmmaking space and having other creatives to bounce ideas with, and relate to, really benefitted my mental health. great chat, Jesse!

love the tip to quit working on a project on a given day when you're ahead, not burned out on it! I may have to try this, as I often become brain dead after a full day of trying to work on design stuff and just come back dreading having to work on it again the next day because of that. Great video!

To be honest, as a freelance graphic designer, I feel alone, I’m always questioning my own work and ideas. I’ve got to the point where I have no idea if what I’m doing is right. I feel there’s only so much you can do on your own, there’s a lot of limitations without collaboration in my opinion.

I feel like perfectionism is also something I have to learn to combat and start being more flexible. Delegating stuff to other people and start to branch out is a big part of this, I think. And it's just part of life, you have to trust other people to do work for you, and not only do you have more time to make more "executive" or overall decisions, but you grow as a "Senior" designer, taking in aspects of management, direction, collaboration, training, etc.

I recently decided to quit my job to pursue graphic design full time. I've never worked in graphic design professionally but it's what I went to school for. It's been a massive passion in my life for so long but only now have chosen to fully dive in.This new pivot in my life has been scary but watching this video and listening to these tips and overall experience of what design can hold for creatives makes me really excited to begin this new path. I'm not naive to the struggles that I will definitely face as a professionally new designer, but to me it seems worth it to pursue it as I know it is something that will give me fulfillment as a person. Thanks a lot for sharing these videos with us - really appreciate it 🤘

I love this style video thank you for so many good tips. Felt stuck in a couple of ways thst you touched on in this video. From the commercial vs artistic/personal/not Google friendly portfolio and how to tackle that problem (love that solution and instantly wrote a note to make those 2 portfolios this weekend) and the somewhat obvious but didn't feel obvious until you said it, problem/solution of making the personal projects and how to become more favorable or interesting as a candidate for the art projects you want to do (ex if you like cars, do car work, if you like music do album art etc) that seems so clear but really was insightful to hear it all how you provided it. Anyways thank you again, I'm sure you're tired of my endless thanking comments 😂but these videos have been so helpful I wanted to make sure you knew it made a difference posting it to someone out there

I like chatty Jesse Nyberg format. I like hearing your thoughts, I really relate to it, being kind of more of an "alt" person myself. I've always been conflicted about wanting to make more grungy or gothy or experimental types of design vs. the corporate stuff, and in school I made a bunch of corporate crap because I just wanted to get a job, it seemed like that was what got people jobs. But hearing you talk about your own experiences, it inspired me more to go more towards experimental forms of design. It also just kinda helps and relates to life too, a lot of what you say. Like what you say, helps wholisitically, and not just in design. You're not some stale corrupted robotic business dude, which is cool

This is very Insightful as well as all of your videos are 🔥 keep up the great work. It's definitely alot of frustrations out there, and being realistic is rrefreshing. I don't find this common with some graphic design youtubers.
I think this is very eye-opening and would love to see more laid back videos like this.
Don't know if you heard of a CZcams juxtopossed (if I spelled it righ) who is a web designe, but there's alot of same beliefs. Theirs humor in the videos, but the constant rhetoric about style and niche is so common amongst creative especially with social media.

As someone studying gd in college I meet so many people that are looking forward to graduation but have no technical skills, and realizing it kind of opened my eyes on the fact that I have a similar problem. My issue is consistency, doing the 5-9 after the 9-5 can just be exhausting mentally.
