- In this video I show you how I made this systainer inlay for router bits with CNC.
Because I do not have my own CNC, I go to my local makerspace/fablab 'de Kaasfabriek' (cheese factory) which is located in Alkmaar, The Netherlands.
For this project I used some pieces of 12 mm birch plywood.
If you are interested in making this inlay yourself please contact me via my website. I have the intention to make a dxf file available for download in the future.

I think loads of us would like to make things like this but not everybody has access to a CNC Machine looks cool by the way
Dat heb je geweldig mooi gedaan. Echt schitterend.
Nice project! Huge fan of the systainers too. So convenient. Birch plywood is best machined conventional instead of climb cut, it leaves a clean finish with the right routerbit that doesn't require any sanding or filing afterwards.
It looks great and give me lots of idea's
Great build! Everything has a place, and everything is in it's place. All is right in the world! :)
Thanks!
I LIKE your WOOD trays 👍
Very nice. Oh so very nice!
Excellent 👍🏻
Very nice work, You have inspired me to do the same....
Thanks! Good luck.
Absolutely fantastic! Very well made.
Thanks!
i know im asking randomly but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Ronald Josiah Instablaster ;)
@Sean John I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Sean John it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
love it
The cnc did a good job.
Очень классно! Обзавелся systainer - ми и тоже хочу навести в них порядок, но пока нет времени))) Да и содержимое немного отличается))
Thanks, and success with your project!
Amazing
Very nice
It’s a yes from me😊
2absolutely amazing
Mooi hoor 👍✌️
Thanks!
fantastic
Thanks!
Prachtig .Misschien een club oprichten met mensen die dit maken zodat dit aan elkaar verkocht kan worden ..
Which Systainer number is this?
Love the video and your style. Thanks for sharing.
Number 5!
what progam did you used to make your project? you take a picture, but how does stay in right scale?
Easiest way I know to keep the scale when working with a picture is to include a ruler in your picture so that you can use that to reference against.
I use Rhinoseros or Rhino for short. The scale can be adjusted by measuring one or two real dimensions of the object.
That is a great idea! Where can i buy one?
Hi Oscar, thanks for watching my video. I do not sell this product but you can make it yourself. You can find a download dxf file on my website. Success!
Could you represent the plans to be made with a hand router?
I am not able to do that. But you can try.
I really like this idea. I might try this plywood technique with some of my own tools. I like the systainer boxes; I have one that came with a Makita track saw, and I might pick up some smaller ones for hand tools. I don't have access to a CNC router so I would have to figure out a technique that is feasible, perhaps gluing small pieces of plywood to a base piece of plywood to form the tool pockets.
Mike Farrington also used a similar process to organise his tools and made a video about it (czcams.com/video/LHMyhuZo2a0/video.html). He made more of a "3D" toolbox, but I think I prefer the layered trays.
Succes!
I like what he did, but like you, I don't have a CNC machine, but I thought of a way to do something similar. You can still make the individual shelves using a thinner plywood and use foam for the tool inlays.
I get that you have to have some skill to program a cnc but it just feels like cheating to me. Great work though.
