Dude those ARE his ears. Any hardcore DT fan would know he was actually born with extremely hairy ears. It's an extremely rare medical condition. Up until recently he used to shave and wax his ears it but it got too time consuming and expensive so he just let it all grow. In an interview he says the hairy ears actually enhance the focal point of sound waves thus giving him a unique perspective regarding music. Their next album ("The wolf inside of me) to be released in 2020 includes a track about his rare condition and the hardship it created. Run time of the song is roughly 45 minutes.

@@micheladoronzo5506 It is. In fact, the albums from SFAM through Octavarium are all tied. FF's static noise bridges into the begginning of The Glass Prison, and then the very ending of SDOIT bridges into the beginning of As I Am, and the ending of In The Name of God does so into the beginning of The Root of All Evil. Octavarium (the song) then ends going back to TROAE, creating a loop.

The way they refer to a "videogamey tone" or the "videogame thing" is so vague lol, like what does that mean exactly

Does the interviewer mean all the melodic runs in the instrumental section that are doubled by the guitar and keyboard? 'Cause I'm thinking maybe it's the keyboard.

C'mon Grahame, You didn't know that Petrucci wrote music for Necronomicon? Prologue and Epilogue are quite shreddy bits of music. Here's a video of him back in the ibanez days playing those songs live: czcams.com/video/KqCwTFItim8/video.html
